Forge and Naze have a connection that starts years before either of them meets the X-Men. Naze helped raise him and trained him in magic, expecting him to take on a responsibility that Forge eventually decided he didn't want. That makes the...

Naze is a character whose importance is much bigger than the amount of time he actually spends on the page. Most of his place in these stories comes through Forge, but he's part of Forge's life long before the X-Men become involved. He's a...

Forge has had a huge effect on the X-Men for someone who initially enters their lives as a weapons designer working with the government. By the point I've reached, he's become involved in their relationships, their survival, their search fo...

Amanda Sefton has a surprisingly complicated place in Nightcrawler’s life. She first appears in X-Men #98 as a flight attendant who becomes involved with Kurt, but there’s a much older connection underneath that identity. Her real name is J...

Candy Southern goes a lot further back in X-Men than people might realize. She first appeared in X-Men #31, back when the book was still following the original five, and her connection to Warren started before either of them was dealing wit...

Stevie Hunter is one of the supporting characters who doesn't get a lot of time on the page, but there's a detail about her that I've kept noticing: that bad knee. She's a former professional dancer whose career was cut short by an injury....

Moira MacTaggert feels like a staple of the X-Men to me. She's one of those characters who can be out of the picture for a while, then show up when something has gone horribly wrong and end up being exactly the person they need. Sometimes i...

This is something else I wanted to talk about, because there are a lot of supporting characters in the X-Men. Some have a much bigger role than others, and some I know a lot more about than others, but I want to spend some time on their his...

There's been some stirrings going on lately in several areas so I'm just going to cover several of these things at once. - ChatGPT or OpenAI explained something about how they had created an environment, like a separate fake world, for thei...

SCP-109 is an old military canteen that keeps supplying water without its level or weight changing. After some of the things in this series, that sounds like something you'd actually want to find. But then you get into the tests, and the re...

SCP-108 starts with a woman who has a Nazi aircraft factory accessible through her nostrils. That's an actual sentence I have to write to explain this one. She's 51, and the place connected to her nose is roughly two by four kilometers acro...

Pragmata is one of my favorite games. I loved every second of it. I played it when it first came out, and I’ll probably play it a second time when they start adding more content to it. It was an amazing game. The whole setup puts two charac...

Crimson Desert is another game that I played when it first came out. They’ve released a lot since then, so I plan on playing it again in a couple of months, starting over from the beginning and going through everything again. At this point,...

Google DeepMind has released a forest map called ForTy. Now, a forest map probably doesn’t sound like much at first. But the interesting part is that it’s trying to tell the difference between a natural forest, a plantation, and trees being...

There’s a new developer write-up for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. They’re going back to the original 1996 adventure, but they’re also looking at everything that’s happened with Lara since then. The confidence and curiosity from the olde...

We've talked about the Realm Knights and the Hunters. I also wanted to include the other side of this, because Grimm Fairy Tales has groups worth talking about that aren't built around saving anybody. Bad Girls is one of them. The five-issu...

I've been working through Grimm Fairy Tales, and before I get further into the different kinds of people, creatures, and teams in that universe, I wanted to talk about the fairy tales themselves for a minute. Because when you have Snow Whit...

I've been talking about the different worlds in Grimm Fairy Tales, and I wanted to spend some time on two terms that keep coming up while I'm reading: Highborns and Falsebloods. Because once you get beyond the individual fairy tales and sta...
