There's been some stirrings going on lately in several areas so I'm just going to cover several of these things at once.
- ChatGPT or OpenAI explained something about how they had created an environment, like a separate fake world, for their AI systems, the newer ones, and how they were breaking out, getting access to the internet despite trying to stop it. They've strengthened their security and found ways to prevent that. It looked like, as of the 1st, they've continued training on those models, which means those models are being worked on. I'm curious to see how that turns out.
- In the gaming industry BioWare, as you know, got shut down, which is really sucky for people who are long-time gaming fans or people who have played Dragon Age, BioWare games like that, and Baldur's Gate. There's a lot under the BioWare umbrella that just got shut down, the game company. The thing is, there was a petition released. I went ahead and signed it as well but there's a petition out there. I think I reposted it earlier, where people are trying to get their attention, so that's a good step in the right direction. There are a couple of nuances, though, that a lot of people may not realize and I just want to clarify those. From my understanding I think that BioWare is owned by EA Games. EA Games is a company that's shutting down BioWare, which is one of their internal development companies. They're laying off like 400 people at the same time. EA Games still owns the rights, I think, to all of the games that were under the BioWare umbrella, which means we still may see future installments of some of those games (especially when there shows to be a strong demand for it). I just don't know what form that'll look like. Maybe they'll reopen up another version of BioWare that's a smaller company or maybe they'll carry the title over to something else or maybe they'll reassign those games to another part of their division. I have no idea but I'm looking forward to seeing how that plays out. I was really upset by the news that they got shut down because I've been playing their games for decades. Mass Effect is one of my favorite game series of all time. I even loved Andromeda. A lot of people had a lot of complaints about Andromeda. There were a lot of people, even fans, that didn't really like Andromeda that much and I will admit it pales in comparison to the original trilogy. With that being said, if you look at it as its own separate game, it's a pretty solid game. I loved every second of it. I thought it was a great game, albeit with some issues. Anyway tonight I'm going to be playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance here in about 30 minutes. I'm getting to the point now where, again, it's been a while since I've tried to get platinum or 100% completion on everything. I don't really do that a whole lot anymore just because of all the time it takes to get completionist on something. There's so much other stuff you can play. I used to really obsess over that but I kind of broke that habit. Now I just try to do a little bit of everything that I want to do and explore the world as fully as I want. A lot of times if I really love the game after I beat it, I'll go back over the following weeks and months and try to get a perfect game. Like Wolverine, for example, I almost got platinum. All I'm missing for platinum are a couple of the crates that you can find. Other than that I've already got everything.
