SCP-109 is an old military canteen that keeps supplying water without its level or weight changing. After some of the things in this series, that sounds like something you'd actually want to find.
But then you get into the tests, and the results get odd.
The water stays at 19°C inside the canteen and contains tin and other electrolytes. Bacteria grow well when cultured in it. Give that water to somebody with a streptococcal infection, though, and the bacteria are nearly eliminated. A blood substitute made using it is used in another successful recovery. Plants watered with it remain healthy.
A dehydration experiment is left unfinished because the subjects can't provide urine samples. The uncertainty leads to the canteen being moved from Safe to Euclid. A proposed test involving SCP-402 is never conducted because of the risks. Meanwhile, a researcher gets permission to use it for his office plant.
The bacteria result is the part I'd spend the most time on. If I were reading only the culture test, I'd expect the next experiment to go badly. Then the infected person recovers. Now I'm looking back at the first result trying to figure out what changed between those two situations.
You can start imagining explanations immediately. Maybe something about the person's body matters. Maybe the two experiments are measuring effects that only look contradictory. The entry leaves room to wonder, and I wouldn't want to settle on one explanation just because it sounds convenient.
Then there's the office plant. Somebody is surrounded by all these unanswered questions and has still managed to get a regular watering arrangement approved. I can picture the paperwork for that sitting beside the much more serious testing proposals. It makes the facility feel like a workplace where people have somehow gotten used to having these things around.
With this one, I'd want another set of experiments. Repeat the bacteria tests. Change one condition at a time. See whether the apparent contradiction holds up. A canteen that never runs out is already enough to investigate, but the water itself is where the explanation gets away from you.
