Kurohyō 1: communication mode, all 50 missions and outfit completion
There are two different things under communication mode: co-op missions and versus battles. Co-op allows solo play. Versus is where the multiplayer-only title requirements come from. Clearing the co-op missions alone won't satisfy those titles.
Your custom character uses the level, styles and special techniques you've unlocked for Tatsuya. Customize those choices in character editing. The character is for communication mode, not a replacement for Tatsuya in the story.
You can also use recruited allies. Their stats are fixed, so don't expect them to level up alongside your custom character. Rest injured characters by using someone else.
THE THREE VERSUS MODES
Dogeza Battle: a two-to-four-player free-for-all. Last one standing wins; defeated characters kneel.
Tag Match: two against two. CPU fighters fill the remaining positions when fewer than four people participate. Knock out both opposing fighters.
Team Battle: a best-of-five team contest. First to three wins takes it.
THE 50 CO-OP MISSIONS
They unlock in sequence. English names may differ by patch; the order and enemy style should help you identify the right entry.

GETTING THE OUTFITS
Ranks depend on both time and remaining health. An S rank awards all three of that mission's outfit parts, including the lower-rank rewards. You don't have to replay it at A and B. All 50 S ranks are the target for the outfit collection; password-exclusive parts aren't required for the title.
A fast clear with heavy damage can still miss S. A nearly untouched clear can also be too slow. Check both results before deciding what to change.
Against groups, don't get trapped in a corner while finishing one opponent. Change targets and move when another enemy closes in. Against a single opponent, short attacks into a grab are safer than committing to a long sequence that gets blocked.
The low-health endurance missions punish even a brief mistake. A fast-grabbing style is useful because it gives you a way to remove an approaching enemy before the crowd develops. The final mission is a substantial jump from the earlier ones; returning after postgame leveling is sensible.
With two players, time is shared but remaining health is assessed separately. One player can earn S while the other gets a lower rank. Check both players' results rather than assuming one S clears it for everyone.
Return to story mode after earning communication achievements so their associated titles register. Keep the versus records separate from co-op rewards and the story's partner Heat Actions. They overlap in appearance, but the game doesn't count them all the same way.
