Spoilers for the Tarot miniseries ending.
I thought this ending was stupid as hell. Talisman spends all this time fighting against the Order of Tarot, gets imprisoned, and then suddenly he's taking the power and becoming the King of Pentacles. It felt like the whole thing turned around in about four panels.
And I get what he's doing. He's taking the position so he can destroy the Order from within. I'm not saying he suddenly believes in everything they stand for. My problem is how quickly the story gets there after everything it spent building up.
That should have been a major turn in the story. Instead, it felt like they were rushing to get to the ending, and I don't understand why. Give that decision some room. Let us sit with what it means for him after all the fighting and everything that happened to get him there.
As it is, the ending almost made the whole story feel pointless to me. I wanted more out of that payoff. The idea of him going after the Order from the inside could have worked, but the way they got him there just didn't land for me.
