RYU GA GOTOKU KENZAN: AMON'S UNLOCKS, LOADOUT AND FOUR-PHASE FIGHT Amon Jonoshin is Request 100, Justice For All. His health refills completely three times, so prepare for four full phases. The first empty health bar is only the end of his single-sword phase. Exact unlock requirements Reach Chapter 12 and resolve: - Requests 1–99. - All 20 commissions, entries 101–120. - All 20 bounties, entries 121–140. - Every one of the 50 Arena opponents, defeating each at least once. FINISHED request outcomes count for Amon. You do not need COMPLETE on every request, although a lesser outcome can forfeit useful equipment or a revelation. An unfinished request is different: it still needs resolving. The Arena condition means 50 different fighters, not 50 tournament wins. Check the opponent record. Winning a familiar event repeatedly will not fill missing names. Several fighters require training clears: Hozoin Inei needs Jiraiya, Tokage needs Scarecrow, Kaei needs Waterfall, Inshun needs Melon Cutting, and Ryuma Yotaro needs Horse Archery. Kisaragi depends on Zanki training; Komaki also needs his complete training and the concluding Shibusawa episode. Follow their tournament-entry conditions in the Arena guide. The last opponent, Kurokawa Hannya, requires all Tengu training, victories over the other 49 fighters, at least an 80% Arena win rate, and victories over both Komaki and Kisaragi specifically in Peerless. Do not stop after encountering them elsewhere. You do not need to finish restaurant menus, gambling targets, the weapon register, all inventions or every Heat Action for Amon. The training requirements matter because they unlock Arena opponents. Starting the request From 12-1, speak to Okappiki at the police box in northwest Rakugai. Return at night and inspect the empty box to receive the pigeon letter. If you first spoke at night, leave Rakugai and return to refresh the scene. Night becomes available at 12-2. Alternatively, at 12-5 Koetsu lets you change the time. The letter sends you to the bridge on Kawara Street at night. Approaching Okappiki there starts the confrontation, so save and finish preparation first. Buy Gion-only supplies before speaking to Ito at 12-3, which closes that district for the rest of the story. A first-clear loadout Aim for level 50, the level cap, and start with full health. This is preparation advice, not an additional unlock condition. For a strong single-sword weapon, craft Twin Dragon Sword: 1. Obtain Twin Dragon Book from bounty 139, Enryu. You already need that bounty for Amon. 2. Buy Unsigned Sword at Rakugai's weapon shop for 2,000 Mon. Refine it to 2nd Grade for 500 and Final Grade for another 500. 3. At the blacksmith on Rakugai's eastern street, craft Twin Dragon Sword for 20 Ryo, one Dragon Fang and one Dragon Scale. 4. Fang costs 500 Mon and Scale 2,000 at Ebisuya from 11-1. Locker B-5 is another Scale source. 5. Pay 3 Ryo for the sword's Final Grade: 130 Attack, 150 Force, Fast speed. Buying everything on that route costs 23 Ryo 5,500 Mon. A Peerless Sword is stronger if you already have the all-60-abilities reward, but it is unnecessary for this plan. Twin Dragon's pairing bonus needs its matching shortsword and dual-wield stance; the single-sword plan below does not depend on that bonus. Ancient Armour is a straightforward purchase: 2 Ryo at Ebisuya from 10-8, with Impact/Blade/Bullet/Fire defenses of 25/20/0/1. Sacred Tree Armour costs 1 Ryo 5,000 at the weapon shop and has 15/15/25/-10, trading melee protection for bullet protection while worsening fire defense. The first three phases favor melee protection. Equip a Resurrection Magatama and carry replacements if available. Sources include lockers H-1 and E-3, Request 9, and the repeat Purgatory Scarecrow reward for a time under 2:20. It must be equipped to revive you. It is consumed on activation, so pause afterward and equip another. For the other accessory slot, Wrath Talisman doubles Heat gain. It comes from bounty 131 or Scorching Blaze Arena prizes. Avoid Bloodstained Sarashi while learning: its faster Heat gain comes with -30 to every defense. Remove Shirikenzan for this approach. It automatically performs Cat Flip, whereas you may need to stay down during the final phase's explosions. Healing and the useful Heat Action Invent All-Purpose Pill: Ultimate through Gyotensai using one Special Grade Vitality Pill, one Special Grade Frenzy Pill and one Special Grade All-Purpose Pill. Pharmacies then sell the Ultimate version for 1,000 Mon. It fully restores both health and Heat. Fill your available recovery slots before the fight. Learn Secret Sword: Rising Fish, also called Tenshogyo or Ascending Fish in older guides. Get Shichigoro's Fish Picture in Chapter 6, observe the fisherman on River Road by day or evening, press Triangle for the revelation and choose the second answer. In combat, use single-sword stance with enough Heat. Release R1, roll FORWARD toward Amon with two X inputs, then press Triangle as you reach him. Sideways or backward rolls do not trigger it. Practice the input before this fight. Use Rising Fish for a clear damage opportunity, then return to movement. When health and Heat are depleted, an Ultimate pill replenishes both. Heal before a dangerous combo can kill you rather than waiting for the last sliver. This is a repeatable approach documented in the guides, not a promise that Amon cannot interrupt a mistimed attempt. Phase 1: single sword Stay outside his immediate reach and let him commit. Backstep or roll past an attack, take a short opening, then move again. He can block, parry and reverse careless pressure. Do not keep swinging into his guard expecting a full combo to connect. Use Rising Fish when your approach and Heat allow it. Phase 2: dual swords His sidesteps and long attack strings make this the harder melee phase. Track him when he moves around your flank. Create space before starting another attack rather than attacking the position he just left. Holding guard through the whole string is dangerous: he can break it and land the remaining hits. If you are already caught, prioritize surviving and healing when the menu allows it. Do not trade away most of your health to finish a combo of your own. Phase 3: long blade His larger swings are slower. Keep enough room to read the attack, roll around its end and punish the recovery, preferably from behind. The opening is brief, so a short attack or properly set-up Heat Action is safer than committing to a long string. Watch the bar refill again. You still have the mixed-style phase afterward, so retain medicine and replacements for your revival accessory. Phase 4: mixed weapons, pistol and bombs KHHsubs describes switching among the three earlier sword styles and the gun; Coffman's older account emphasizes single sword and pistol. React to the weapon he actually draws rather than expecting a fixed rotation. Use the earlier spacing plan while he has a sword. When the pistol appears, close the distance with evasive movement. Remaining far away gives him repeated shots and bomb throws. If an explosion knocks you down, do not immediately Cat Flip into the next blast. When getting up, be ready to evade the follow-up shot. Coffman specifically warns that repeated quick recoveries can turn the explosions into a devastating chain. Seamless Raiment, sold for 500 Ryo at the weapon shop, makes bullets pass through you. It does not make the bombs harmless, so it is an expensive option rather than a complete answer to this phase. After victory Request 100 awards Teppogiri Kanemitsu and 15,000 EXP. Completing the Memo Pad also awards Matchless Wakizashi. Those are reasons you cannot rely on the full weapon-register reward, Dragon Armour, for a first Amon clear. On a later run, Brawler God Amulet from an Expert story clear provides unlimited Heat. That is an optional post-clear advantage, not a prerequisite for defeating Amon normally.
