RYU GA GOTOKU KENZAN: CEE-LO, EVERY RESULT AND CHEAT ITEM
Cee-Lo, or Chinchirorin, is the three-dice game. One banker plays against three other players. When you are not the banker, your result only needs to beat the banker's result. Beating the other two players does not affect your payment.
Where to play
Gion's gambling den opens from 5-1. Enter from the gap in the torii corridor between Komaki's dojo and Gion Inari Shrine. The Cee-Lo players sit in the middle of the back room, past turtle betting.
Rakugai's table opens from 5-6. Find the stalls on the western part of Nagaya Street, the second east-west road below the northern main road. Cee-Lo is immediately west of the Hanafuda stall.
Buy wooden tags from the cashier. They cost 1 Mon each, in purchases of 1,000 or 10,000. The same tag balance works for Hanafuda, Cho-Han and turtle betting. Mahjong uses a different currency.
How a round works
The three non-bankers place their bets first. The banker rolls, then the other players roll individually if the banker's result has not already settled the round.
You get up to three throws to produce a valid result. A valid combination ends your throwing turn; you cannot reject a poor but valid point and keep rolling. If all three throws fail to make a point or special result, you have no score.
The ordinary result is a pair plus a different die. The unpaired die is your point:
- 2-2-5 gives five.
- 6-6-3 gives three.
- 4-4-1 gives one.
The size of the pair does not matter. Five beats three, even if the three came with a pair of sixes.
Higher ordinary points beat lower ones. Special results have their own payments. The game handles the exchanges separately between the banker and each opponent.
All results
Pinzoro, 1-1-1: the best result, paying five times the stake. As banker, it settles as a win against the table.
Arashi, matching triples from 2-2-2 through 6-6-6: pays three times the stake when it wins. Triple ones are pinzoro instead, with the larger multiplier.
Shigoro, 4-5-6: pays twice the stake. As banker, this is an immediate win.
Ordinary point six: a pair plus an unpaired six. As banker, it wins immediately at the normal one-stake payment.
Ordinary points two through five: compare the banker with each player. The winning side receives the normal stake.
Ordinary point one: a pair plus an unpaired one. As banker, it loses immediately and pays each player's stake.
No score: three unsuccessful throws with no valid combination. This is a losing result, with a normal one-stake payment.
Shonben: at least one die goes outside the bowl. The throw loses and costs the normal stake.
Hifumi, 1-2-3: the bad result that costs twice the stake. A banker pays double to all three opponents; a non-banker pays double to the banker.
The banker can win from or lose to several people at once. Do not judge your risk by the single bet you would place as a non-banker.
Betting limits
The starting maximum bet is 1,000, with opponents holding 10,000 points. Higher limits require BOTH story progress and enough wins:
- From 6-1, after at least 10 wins: 1,500 maximum; opponents have 15,000.
- From 9-1, after at least 15 wins: 1,800 maximum; opponents have 18,000.
- From 12-1, after at least 20 wins: 2,000 maximum; opponents have 20,000.
Playing late in the story therefore lets you make faster progress than staying at the first limit. Bring enough tags to absorb losing banker rounds rather than staking your entire balance.
All five cheat items
Use an item through the minigame's item command before the roll it should affect. These are consumed, so keep a save before spending a difficult-to-replace item.
Shigoro Dice: forces 4-5-6 on your next throw. Invent it from one Tengu Stone and one Tamahagane. Both can be bought at the weapon shop for 400 and 1,000 Mon respectively.
Pinzoro Dice: forces 1-1-1 on your next throw. Invent it from one Tengu Stone and one Scrap Iron. Scrap Iron costs 500 mahjong chips at that game's exchange. Use the correct dice item: Pinzoro Tag is for Cho-Han, not Cee-Lo.
Arashi Yokan: forces a triple on your next throw. Invent it from one Manju and one Star Steel. Manju costs 10 Mon at Arigataya; locker I-3 supplies Star Steel. Request 37 can also award an already-made Arashi Yokan.
Hifumi Tobacco: makes the other players roll 1-2-3 during that round. Invent it from Glass Kiseru and Lapis Lazuli. The Glass Kiseru requires the best result in Request 53, including the earlier schoolwork answers in Requests 13 and 45. Lapis Lazuli is in locker C-1, is awarded by Request 38's good outcome, or costs 5,000 Mon at Ebisuya. Preserve the kiseru if you want this invention.
Shonben Jizo: makes the other players throw dice outside the bowl during the round. Invent it from one Dosojin/Traveller's Stone and one Empty Stomach Pill. Request 98 gives the stone; after inventing Empty Stomach Pill, pharmacies sell it for 230 Mon.
These recipes appear from 8-1, but several ingredients arrive later. The complete invention guide gives the remaining material alternatives and prerequisite routes.
For the biggest useful swing, save your forced winning rolls for banker turns, when a strong result can collect from all three opponents. The opponent-targeting items are also most useful when you are banker. Check whose turn it is before using one.
Completion and prizes
Cee-Lo needs 200,000 cumulative points in its own completion record. Hanafuda earnings and purchased tags do not replace that requirement. Check the record after a session and save progress once it is recorded.
There is no timing trick established here that makes ordinary throws reliable. Bet smaller while building wins, use the later limits when they become available, and plan around the cheat items instead of assuming a sequence of losing rolls makes a win due.
The shared prize exchange offers Manju for 10 tags, Mandarin for 10, Special Grade All-Purpose Pill for 500, Lapis Lazuli for 5,000, Miracle Water for 200 and Dragon Whisker for 1,500. You can also exchange 10,000 or 100,000 tags directly for the same amount of Mon. The full mini-game completion reward is Runner's Shoes, not a separate Cee-Lo equipment prize.
