Like a Dragon: Ishin! Battle Dungeon Guide, Part 5: Choosing a Sanada Farming Run
When you need to repeat a dungeon, the route matters as much as the reward. A stage with several switches, compulsory boxes and long return trips can take much longer than a tougher fight in a single room.
These notes cover the 2023 remake. They explain which missions are convenient to repeat and why. They are not turn-by-turn directions for every corridor.
Shorter routes for dragon materials
Sanada 3-7, Trooper Combat Training 1, offers Eye of the Dragon and mostly follows one path, making repeat runs straightforward.
For Dragon Fang, compare 3-1, Reclaim the Stolen 1000 Ryo Boxes 1, with 3-4, Rescue the Kidnapped Official 1. The first has switches and compulsory boxes but little major branching. The rescue mission is another manageable repeat and also drops Yoshiyuki.
Sanada 3-2 offers Dragon Whisker but involves switches and collecting boxes. Sanada 3-3 offers Eye of the Dragon, with a long route, door switches and floor-triggered spear traps. Try 3-7 first for eyes.
Sanada 3-13, Defeat the Sword Squad, involves long travel. Check its other drops before committing to repeat runs.
Money and experience: Defeat the Gun Squad
Sanada 3-15 has no switch puzzle to slow down repeated runs. Its rooms contain plenty of enemies, many carrying guns. It combines experience, a 3 ryo completion payment and equipment you can sell.
Model 14 is the valuable drop to watch for. A Dull copy sells for 78 ryo and 2,930 mon. Dull Double Flash sells for 32 ryo and 3,500 mon, and Dull Spirit Smasher for 13 ryo and 2,300 mon. Better grades sell for more. Those are prices for individual items, not a guaranteed return from each run.
Square Special Moves is also in this mission's updated loot pool. Patch 1.04 improved dungeon drops, so launch-version farming estimates can be misleading.
Check every weapon's Seals and crafting uses before selling it. Keep the copies you need, then sell the spares. This avoids turning a good farming session into another search for a base weapon you just discarded.
A note on Morality
Sanada 3-11, Infiltration Investigation 2, can drop Morality in updated versions. It has switches and relatively few enemies, so it is less convenient as a general farming stage. Choose it when you specifically need that Seal.
Selling dungeon equipment also earns Virtue. Equip your Morality gear before selling if you want to increase that return. Leave space for new equipment before another run; the improved drop rate makes a full inventory a practical concern.
When to move to the final boss
Sanada 3-20 puts you straight into the boss room and can provide Eye of the Dragon, Dragon Whisker and Dragon Fang together. The lack of corridors is useful only if you can win reliably. If the fight repeatedly empties your healing supplies, use the easier material-specific missions until your equipment catches up.
Sanada 3-19 is also a boss-room encounter, but fighting five strong opponents makes it a poor default just because the same dragon materials appear on its list.
