Like a Dragon: Ishin! Battle Dungeon Guide, Part 3: All 10 Bandits' Mine Missions
Bandits' Mine is the second dungeon area in the 2023 remake. Clear the Cave's ten missions to unlock it. This is where armor becomes a bigger problem, so check your equipment before carrying the same setup straight into another ten fights.
A weapon with bonus damage against armor helps. If your attacks are barely making progress, look at the enemy's armor rather than assuming that repeatedly attacking faster will solve it.
The mission list
1. Reclaim the Stolen 1000 Ryo Boxes 1 — 1 ryo, 5,000 mon.
2. Reclaim the Stolen 1000 Ryo Boxes 2 — 1 ryo, 5,000 mon.
3. Reclaim the Stolen 1000 Ryo Boxes 3 — 1 ryo, 5,000 mon.
4. Trooper Combat Training 1 — 1 ryo, 5,000 mon.
5. Trooper Combat Training 2 — 1 ryo, 5,000 mon.
6. Defeat the Sword Squad — 1 ryo, 5,000 mon.
7. Defeat the Spear Squad — 1 ryo, 5,000 mon.
8. Defeat the Gun Squad — 1 ryo, 5,000 mon.
9. Defeat the Two Elite Thieves — 2 ryo.
10. Defeat the Leader of the Thieves — no fixed cash clear reward.
These are clear rewards, not a promise of how much money you'll make from selling everything afterward.
Working through the first eight
For the box missions, clear the branches methodically and check the objective before trying to leave. Keep an eye on the map as you double back. Running past a side room can cost more time than checking it on the first trip.
The first three missions also offer Sturdy Lumber, which you'll need for certain equipment recipes. Break the containers along the way instead of treating the objective boxes as the only things worth opening.
Use the training missions to see whether your squad is keeping up with the fights. If you're regularly leaving a dungeon with no healing left, spend some time improving the setup before the last two missions.
The Two Elite Thieves
Don't spend the entire fight spreading damage between both opponents. Pick one and work toward removing him, while keeping the other in view. A fire weapon is an option for creating openings here. Bring healing you can use immediately if an exchange goes badly.
Search the containers in the final room before leaving. Getting through the fight and forgetting the loot is a frustrating way to waste a successful run.
The Leader of the Thieves
The final boss is another giant, accompanied by five ordinary enemies. He can throw firebombs when you're farther away, so distance alone doesn't make you safe.
Clear the smaller enemies, then concentrate on the giant. Swordsman guarding and short counterattacks are a workable approach. Give yourself time to defend again after attacking rather than trying to finish an entire long combo every time he pauses.
If you're using Wild Dancer and have learned Essence of Majestic Dispersal, the opening group gives you a chance to use that multi-enemy Heat Action. Don't assume a Heat Action that works on the smaller enemies will work directly on the giant.
After clearing the Mine
Check the mission list for Sanada Stronghold. Before starting it, replenish your supplies and review the materials you've collected. The next area has twenty missions, so it's worth taking a break to craft an upgrade instead of carrying weak equipment into a longer grind.
