LIKE A DRAGON: ISHIN! MATERIAL SOURCES AND FARMING This is a practical source list for the 2023 remake's standard crafting materials. Each dungeon entry gives somewhere to obtain the item, not a guaranteed reward or every possible drop location. Check the mission's loot list before entering. Dungeon numbering follows the selection menu: 1 means Bandits' Cave, 2 Bandits' Mine, and 3 Sanada Stronghold. The number after the dash is that area's mission position. These are NOT story chapter numbers. BUY THE COMMON MATERIALS Kurogane Smithing, on the western Rakunai/Rakugai boundary, has a separate materials vendor. Stock grows as the smithy unlocks its A and B variants. Available without a variant unlock: Iron Scrap; Misshapen Screw; Dead Branch; Quality Hide; Volcanic Rock Fragment; Crooked Magnet; Lime Powder; Lead Chunk; Iron Hammer. A variant, smithy level 5: Metal Sheet; New Screw; Worn Out Cogwheel; Soft Lumber; Beautiful Pelt; Wild Silk; Amber; Bronze Hammer. B variant, smithy level 10: Precious Steel; Solid Wood; Gold Dust. Ichikura General Goods in Fushimi or Don Quijote on Rakunai's Shijo Street: Exquisite Cogwheel. Both also sell some common metal supplies, so check your materials while passing them. Don Quijote: Charcoal and Ceramic Sake Bottle. The roaming General Goods merchant: Gold Chunk and Sacred Wood. Look around Shijo Street for the carrying-pole merchant, and check his shop label because different wandering merchants have different stock. If he isn't present, return after changing areas rather than assuming a fixed storefront exists. The Mysterious Merchant's unlocked shop in West Umekojicho, Rakugai: Picture of a Ghost, Elegant Hair Ornament and Firework Ball. Complete his friendship errands to open it. The requests progress through tomatoes, a Loincloth, Scrap Paper, Natto and Ginseng; the friendship guide gives the quantities and suppliers. USE THE SHINTO PRIEST FOR CLOTH AND WOOD After Another Life opens in Chapter 4, buy the Shinto Priest's Exchange opening upgrade for 500 Virtue. The shop is at Rakunai's large shrine. Further Exchange upgrades expand its stock; these purchases are separate from buying the materials themselves. Opening stock: Quality Hide and Cracked Cutting Board. Level 1: Beautiful Pelt and Wild Silk. Level 2: Water God Stone. Level 3: Beast's Tail, Fine Horse's Mane, Grinding Stone and Flint Stone. Level 4: Gold Nugget, Vermilion Fabric and Fine Silk Fabric. Level 5: Sacred Wood, European Fabric and Rainbow Fabric. Firework Ball is also sold through the upgraded Exchange. This is useful when preparing special ammunition. Keep enough Virtue for farming and other upgrades you still want before spending it all on cloth. DUNGEON MATERIAL LOOKUP Silver Scrap: 1-2, Reclaim the Stolen 1000 Ryo Boxes 1. Platinum Filings: 2-1. Also repeat the Swordsman Bonus course in Cannon Coaching. Platinum Chunk: 2-1. Rainbow Shard: 3-1. Also the regular Prize Wheel's top prize. Rusty Spring: 1-1. Small Wind-up Device: 1-1. Mechanical Parts: 2-2. Broken Compass: 2-2. Precise Machinery: 3-1. Sturdy Lumber: 1-1. Driftwood: 2-4. Thousand-Year Tree Branch: 2-4. Cloudy Hand Mirror: 1-3. Beautiful Leaf: 1-3. Emerald: 1-4. Pearl: 1-4. Obsidian Chunk: 1-5. Carved Wooden Bear: 1-1. Ominous Prayer Beads: 1-1. Fluorite: 1-1. Broken Awl: 1-1. Ronin's Hair Tie: 1-5. Straw Effigy: 1-6. Jet Black Belt: 1-8. Killer's Handcuffs: 1-8. Marksman's Fan: 2-4. Bloodstained Cloth: 1-9. Aquamarine: 2-4. Gold Seal: 2-1. Charming Doll: 2-2. Tear of the Dragon: 2-3. Crystal: 2-6. Phoenix Feather: 2-8. Ancient Amulet: 2-10. Crimson Bead: 3-6. Eye of the Dragon: 3-3 or 3-20. Golden Medicine Case: 3-12 or 3-20. Great Serpent Skin: 3-8 or 3-20. Godslayer's Talisman: 3-9 or 3-20. Dragon Whisker: 3-2 or 3-20. Dragon Fang: 3-1 or 3-20. Provincial Dojo Certificate: 3-20. Snake Eyepatch: 3-17 or 3-20. Torn Haori: 3-18 or 3-20. For repeat runs, 1-1 is Defeat the Sword Squad; 2-1, 2-2 and 2-3 are the three Reclaim the Stolen 1000 Ryo Boxes missions. Sanada 3-20 is Defeat Sanada Nobuyasu. These make useful starting points when several missing ingredients overlap. HAMMERS AND NON-DUNGEON ALTERNATIVES Iron and Bronze Hammers come from the smithy. The Gambling Den exchanges 1,500 wooden tags for a Silver Hammer. The regular Prize Wheel can also award Silver; the Rare Prize Wheel can award Gold. Later Sanada missions list Gold Hammers among their drops. Kiwami Hammers are limited major rewards, including Substory 72 and completing the Battle Dungeon category. The Arena exchange is useful for a specific shortage: Silver Scrap, Sturdy Lumber, Thousand-Year Tree Branch, Grinding Stone, Pearl, Carved Wooden Bear, Killer's Handcuffs, Marksman's Fan and Aquamarine. Buy Bronze or Silver Hammers there if you already have spare points. See the Arena post for prices. HOW TO MAKE THE GRIND SHORTER Group your missing materials by mission instead of chasing them one at a time. Clear enemies and break containers on the way through. Move to a shorter route once you no longer need the rare item that justified the longer one. Keep both the materials and useful equipment drops until you have checked their crafting branches and removable Seals. Do not sell every extra dragon item based on a one-of-each recipe total: branching paths and Seal attempts can require repeated crafts. Food and fish used in unusual recipes sit outside this material list. Keep the actual recipe quantities available: plants, Doburoku and Great White Sharks cannot be substituted with similarly named smithing materials.
