Like a Dragon: Ishin! (2023): All Heat Actions, Part 1 There are 60 completion entries: 24 Brawler/general, 13 Swordsman, 11 Gunman, and 12 Wild Dancer. These four parts cover all of them. Use Heavy Attack, Triangle / Y, when the Heat prompt appears. Every entry assumes enough Heat. Learned actions also need an orb placed in the ability, including after training or a revelation removes its lock. The follow-up actions need their own upgrades. Check Completion List → Heat Actions after attempting one. A familiar-looking animation doesn't always mean you've filled the entry you wanted. GENERAL ACTIONS These first fourteen don't need a Heat Action node purchased. Use Brawler for the grabs and picked-up objects. Lagoon is an exception explained below. 1. Essence of Wall Smashing Hold an enemy beside a full-height wall. 2. Essence of Face Crushing Hold an enemy beside a low ledge or waist-high object. Try the railing west of Teradaya, away from the water's edge. 3. Essence of Finishing Kick Stand beside the head of a downed enemy lying face-down. 4. Essence of Finishing Stomp Stand beside the head of a downed enemy lying face-up. 5. Essence of Beatdown Hold a small, one-handed street weapon near an enemy. A sickle is suitable. 6. Essence of Crushing Hold a medium, two-handed object near an enemy. Try a chair. 7. Essence of Gravity Hold a large, heavy object near an enemy. Tables and charcoal bundles work. 8. Essence of Swinging Approach a fallen enemy's feet instead of their head. 9. Essence of Throwing Carry a grabbed enemy to water or a drop. 10. Essence of Staff Hold long lumber or a spear near an enemy. 11. Essence of Lagoon Get an enemy near water or a drop without grabbing them. Switch to Swordsman if the Brawler setup is giving you Throwing instead. Some references call this Essence of Downfall; it is the same entry, not a 61st action. 12. Essence of Umeboshi Carry an Umeboshi and approach an enemy without holding Fighting Stance. Don Quijote sells it. 13. Essence of Carrying Pole Stand beside a carrying pole with two loads, with an enemy nearby. Look west of Ebisu Pawn Rakunai. 14. Essence of Scalding Bring an enemy beside a tea-shop counter. Uji Tea Parlor is a useful place to try. You don't pick up the teapot first. LEARNED BRAWLER ACTIONS Buy each named ability on Brawler's wheel. Two also need revelations. 15. Essence of Mikan Carry an Orange; approach an enemy. 16. Essence of Reverse Throw Use the prompt during a successful parry. Requires the Throw revelation. 17. Essence of Mighty Strikes Grab an enemy away from walls and other environmental prompts. 18. Essence of Grounding Strikes Start Mighty Strikes, then take its Heavy Attack follow-up prompt. 19. Essence of Dragon Strikes Start Mighty Strikes, then rotate the left stick when prompted. 20. Essence of Mercurial Fortune Grab an enemy and let them break free; catch the immediate Heat prompt. 21. Essence of Shot Stopper Approach an enemy carrying a firearm. 22. Essence of Swordless Reversal Wait for a swordsman's incoming attack. 23. Essence of Grand Bruising After War Cry Counter, hold Fighting Stance toward a more distant enemy. Requires the Strike revelation. 24. Essence of Empty Hands Use the incoming-attack prompt against an enemy whose weapon isn't a sword. KEEPING THE SETUPS SEPARATE Clear the simple ground, wall, and object entries first. Then work on the counter timings and follow-ups. Refill Heat between attempts and use a tougher enemy if the target keeps dying during setup. For Reverse Throw, act during the parry animation. Grand Bruising uses the protection after the parry and needs distance to the target. Trying both from exactly the same position is an easy way to keep getting only one of them. For Mighty Strikes and its branches, move away from scenery before grabbing. Otherwise the wall or ledge action can take priority. Let the follow-up prompt appear instead of pressing every button throughout the animation.
