Like a Dragon: Ishin! (2023): Story Walkthrough, Chapters 3–4 SPOILERS: This part covers joining the Shinsengumi and the investigation through Chapter 4. Boss names and story destinations are included. 3. MIBU WOLVES Leave Fushimi through the northern gate and continue through Rakugai toward Mibu. The Shinsengumi headquarters is in Mibu, not inside the central shopping streets. Follow the story marker to its entrance. The blacksmith becomes available during this chapter. Check your equipment and spend any unused ability orbs before the entrance test. You can explore the newly accessible districts and do side activities first, but grinding chicken races or buying a particular expensive weapon is not a story requirement. BOSS: NAGAKURA SHINPACHI Nagakura's rising sword attack can break your guard and lead into a damaging follow-up. Give him room to start a combination, dodge out of its path, and attack during the recovery. Repeatedly blocking at close range is a poor answer to his strongest moves. Be especially careful once he powers up. His charging stab is a reason to move immediately, not an invitation to finish your current combination. If you prefer Gunman, fire after avoiding his attack and stop shooting in time to evade the next approach. The basic rhythm is the same whichever style you use: make him miss, punish, reset. After the test and subsequent scenes, Hijikata asks you to meet him at Tsubakiro in Gion. Leave headquarters and follow the map east toward Gion. Restock before entering Tsubakiro. Ginryu's dojo is another useful optional stop if you want more sword training. BOSS: MAN IN WHITE Watch for the slow approach with both arms raised. That is a grab, and blocking will not save you. Back out of reach, then attack while he recovers. He can also challenge a Heat Action with a button prompt, so keep watching the screen after activating one. Avoid trading blows directly into his defense. A few safe hits are more useful than losing a large amount of health while trying to force another attack. Win the fight and watch the scenes that end the chapter. 4. JOINT STRUGGLE Leave the officers' meeting and collect your blue haori from Todo. Head back toward Fushimi and Teradaya. On the way, the Shinto priest introduces you to Haruka and the home that becomes Another Life. Complete the introductory tour before trying to leave. Inspect the outdoor facilities and the indoor points the tutorial asks for, including the cooking area and trade ledger. Once the introduction is finished, you can return to Fushimi by boat. Paying all of Haruka's debt is optional work, not something you must finish to advance this chapter. At Teradaya, the next problem is finding Oryo. Go to Shijo Bridge in Rakunai and speak to her. Return to the inn afterward. The message waiting there sends you to Kiyomizu Temple. The temple approach lies east of Rakugai, across the river and along the wooded route. The injured man on that route belongs to an optional substory. Continue toward the story marker when you are ready for the main mission. KIYOMIZU TEMPLE ESCAPE Meet Nakaoka, then fight out with him when the Tosa Loyalists arrive. Break the barricade to continue. Nakaoka can occupy enemies while you attack, but don't assume he will keep everyone away from you. The gunmen are the dangerous part of the route. Use the available pillars and other solid cover rather than standing in the open exchanging shots. Move between cover during a gap, close the distance, and deal with the shooters. Pick up the medicine along the escape route before pressing on. FINAL ENEMY: MIYOSHI The armored hammer wielder is slow but hits hard. Work on his armor with your sword, evade the hammer swing, and attack from the side or rear after it misses. Don't keep attacking through the start of his next swing. Once his protection is gone, your damage will be much more effective. Defeat him to finish the escape and the chapter.
