Like a Dragon: Ishin! Dice Games Guide: Cee-lo and Cho-han Ishin has two dice games in the Gambling Den, and they don't use the same rules. Cee-lo is about beating a banker with three dice. Cho-han starts with a much simpler question: will the total of two dice be odd or even? This is for the 2023 remake. Both games have a completion target of 7,500 Wooden Tags earned. Losses don't subtract from that cumulative completion counter. Your actual supply of tags can still go down, though, so those are two different numbers. WHERE TO PLAY Go to the Gambling Den on Sannocho in Rakugai, near the palanquin stop. You can access it from Chapter 3. Buy Wooden Tags at the desk and approach the game you want to play. The chicken races are in a separate building, not at either of these tables. CEE-LO: HOW A ROUND WORKS There are four players and one acts as banker. The other three bet against the banker, not against each other. The banker rolls first, then the players try to beat that result. The banker role rotates. You have up to three attempts to make a valid roll. Once you get one, you keep it. For an ordinary pair, the remaining die is the score: 2-2-5 scores five, not two. A score of one loses automatically; six wins automatically. Special results: - Three ones: five-times win. - Any other triple: three-times win. - 4-5-6: double win. - 1-2-3: double loss. - 3-4-6, called Musashi: six points with doubled stakes. - 1-3-5: copies the previous player's score when applicable; otherwise three. - 2-4-6: copies the following player's score when applicable; otherwise four. - Dice missing the bowl: loss. The All-Odds and All-Evens results depend on your place in the rolling order. Let the result screen settle those instead of adding the three dice together. Addition isn't how Cee-lo scores a hand. “One-Roll Triple” is a risk option before your first roll as a non-banker. It triples the stake and gives you one attempt. It does not guarantee three matching dice. CHO-HAN: THE BASIC BET Cho means even. Han means odd. You're betting on the total of the two dice: 2+4 is Cho, while 2+3 is Han. There's no reason to believe an odd result is due just because the last few were even. A streak doesn't make the opposite outcome guaranteed. Treat the NPC betting display as part of the game, not a reliable prediction tool. HIGHER BETS AND EXTRA OPTIONS The starting cap is 200 tags. Ten wins followed by leaving and returning raises it to 500. Another five wins raises it to 800; five more raises it to 1,000. Five wins unlock guessing one die. Ten unlock guessing both. Twenty unlock guessing the difference. These are more specific bets, not safer ones. You can finish the completion target with ordinary odd/even bets if that's what you prefer. Eventually you can challenge the house after a win. You can keep going up to five times, but one wrong answer loses the winnings from that attempt. Stopping and keeping the win is a valid choice. Watch for a sudden camera cut outside the room during a house challenge. It signals a cheating attempt and a quick button prompt. React to the prompt immediately. THE DEALER'S FRIENDSHIP After playing Cho-han, try to leave the Gambling Den to meet the dealer properly. Her bond advances when you end a playing session after making a bet. If you still need bond progress after finishing the gambling target, play a round, quit and repeat. The final friendship event involves a 10-ryo wager. Have the money ready and save first. This bond is separate from earning 7,500 tags. SAVING YOUR PROGRESS Save before you gamble if you want the option to undo a bad session. After a good session, leave the game and save again. Reloading also restores the earlier completion progress, so don't reload over a useful win just because a later small bet lost. Neither game has a strategy that makes every roll a winner. Set aside enough in-game money for your other plans before you sit down, and check the completion counter instead of continuing after you've already met the target.
