Like a Dragon: Ishin! (2023): Rakunai Substories 1–7 These seven become available from Chapter 3, although a few need another activity or substory finished first. The numbers follow the in-game list, not the order you'll necessarily find them. This part covers their starts, solutions and rewards. 1. NICHIBUZA'S NEWEST FAN Go to Nichibuza Dance School on Kawaramachi in northeastern Rakunai. Approach the argument outside and intervene. Defeat the four men, then take the introductory dance lesson inside. You don't need a perfect performance to finish the substory. Follow the button prompts as the incoming shapes reach their outlines. Completing the introduction opens the dance school for later visits and gives 250 Virtue. 2. DECEITFUL DEITY Walk north on Karasuma Street toward Ginryu's dojo. A man asks about Ebisu. Next, speak to the woman across from Kamatora on Shijo Street, then search the riverside part of Teramachi. Dark Ebisu is in the small L-shaped lane south of Kanamaru Udon. Defeat him to finish. His hammer makes trying to trade close-range hits a poor idea when you're still weak. Give yourself space, shoot from a distance if needed, and heal rather than gambling on surviving another hit. Reward: 300 Virtue. 3. WHO'S ENTERTAINING WHO? First finish substory 1 and sing at least once at Utamaruya. Then speak to the woman outside Shikokuya, near the southern corner of Ebisu Pawn Rakunai. Meet the artist at Watami on Shijo Street. The outing includes Iji Sakura at the singing bar and Samurai Enbu at Nichibuza. After the first painting, choose “It was bold and virile.” After the second, choose “It's bold, yet elegant.” Finish the fight outside afterward. Your performances and answers affect the item reward. The best outcome gives an Ancient Amulet; lesser results give a Sacred Tree Branch or Glamorous Doll. You also receive 350 Virtue. Save before starting if you want the best reward rather than just the completion entry. 4. I'LL MISS YOU, MIHO Walk along Kawaramachi beside Nichibuza for the scene with Miho and Shinta. After Shinta leaves, speak to Miho. Don't skip that conversation and run straight to the shrine, because Shinta won't be there yet. Find him at the Rakunai shrine and choose “Thank you for caring about her,” then “You're important to her.” Return to where you met Miho and chase her palanquin. Avoid pedestrians so you don't keep losing ground. Finishing gives Rainbow Fabric and 300 Virtue. 5. TALKIN' TOSA Find Fujie standing in a corner near Nichibuza, in the northeastern Kawaramachi area. He needs three letters translated. Leave the immediate area and return between letters. First letter: • “It's been a while.” • “I.” • “She means ‘you’.” Second letter: • “She means ‘is that every day?’” • “Her heart aches.” • “Meet soon.” Third letter: • “Stumble and fall.” • “Cowardly men.” • “Tell her how you feel.” After the last translation, leave and return once more for the closing conversation. Correct answers earn Fine Silk Fabric, a Platinum Chunk and a Phoenix Feather across the visits, plus 350 Virtue at completion. 6. THE MOCHI MYSTERY Find the group in Shinmeicho, just north of Kurogane Smithing and west of the Shogi Parlor. Agree to help and listen to the suspects. The culprits are Higashihara and Minamino. If the names are giving you trouble, they're the first and fourth suspects from the left. Speak to the investigator when you're ready to make the accusation. Getting it right gives a Godslayer's Talisman and 300 Virtue. Don't randomly accuse people; repeated wrong answers can cost the item reward. 7. EE JA NAI FOR JUSTICE This is the last part of the dancing-crowd chain. Finish Ee Ja Nai Ka, substory 47 in Fushimi, followed by Ee Ja Not Ka, substory 22 in Rakugai. Then head to Shinmeicho, west of the Shogi Parlor, and approach the dancing crowd. Defeat the enemies to finish the story. You receive 350 Virtue and the Tranquil Towel. Check that towel before equipping it: it prevents Heat from building. If your Heat gauge suddenly seems broken after changing gear, that can be the reason. If someone isn't appearing, check the prerequisite first, leave the area, and return after advancing the current main-story objective. Completing these seven isn't all of Rakunai; the courier races, bonds and later Spitfire quests have their own entries.
