Like a Dragon: Ishin! How to unlock and beat both Amon fights Amon isn't another numbered substory in the 2023 remake. He's a separate challenge after all 72 substories and all 40 Battle Dungeon missions. You fight him twice. Once both lists are finished, speak to the mission receptionist at the Shinsengumi barracks. Accept the renewed challenge through “Defeat Sanada Nobuyasu.” Save and restock first. The dungeon fight Three colored enemies protect Amon. Deal with them before concentrating on him: • Green: gun damage. • Purple: sword damage. • Red: fists. The wrong attack type does very little damage. Switch styles deliberately rather than assuming the health bar means your equipment is broken. With the helpers gone, Amon takes normal damage. Dodge sideways around his sword attacks, punish the opening, and heal before another combination can finish you. The second challenge Return to the barracks, leave and re-enter or visit your quarters, then speak to the receptionist again. Amon now wants a duel at Kiyomizu Temple. Follow the forest road east from Rakugai to the temple, checking the nighttime meeting if he's absent. This is a one-on-one fight. Bring your strongest upgraded equipment, useful Trooper Cards, and plenty of recovery items. You don't have to prove anything by leaving healing unused while he takes your last bit of health. Watch for the sword-sheathing charge. Stop attacking and defend or evade until the sequence ends. Later he changes into a Wild Dancer-style phase. Fire damage can help here, unlike the earlier dungeon encounter. Okanehira is one option for applying it. Keep your card abilities available for the moments when you can actually land hits. Firing everything off while he's in an attack you need to avoid wastes the benefit. Don't rely on Shinada's slowing effect against this boss; the remake interaction can make Amon faster instead. The reward Win the temple duel for the Worn Magical Sword. Keep it. Its weak starting attack doesn't make it junk; it's used for the Last of the Dragons crafting path. Before leaving this finished, check that you've won the temple duel, not just the dungeon encounter. The first victory opens the second fight. It doesn't award the sword.
