Like a Dragon: Ishin! Guide: Finishing the Other 23 Friendships The substory checkmark isn't always the end of someone's story. A lot of these encounters introduce a bond that needs several more visits. This covers the 23 entries in the regular Friendships section of Diligence Records, alongside the 24 shop friendships covered separately. If the same person has nothing new to say, enter a building and return. For somebody asking for food or medicine, keep checking the actual request instead of handing over your most expensive item out of habit. THE PEOPLE 1. Servile Beggar, Substory 34 Find him on Mukurogai's ground floor, east of the Rakugai gate. Bring food on repeat visits. After Ryoma encourages him to change his circumstances, he relocates: look along the western wall of Scarecrow Chateau in East Umekojicho, Rakugai. Talk to him there to finish. 2. Hungry Sumo Wrestler, Substory 12 On South Teramachi Street in Rakunai. Give him food, leave and return as his wrestling career progresses. Come back for the final conversation instead of stopping after the last meal. 3. Revolutionary Chef, Substory 58 Near Yamabuki in Gion. Bring dishes cooked at your own house; buying restaurant meals isn't the same thing. You can give him the same homemade dish repeatedly. When he leaves to develop his recipe, reload the area and return. Speak again to learn Revolutionary Croquettes and complete the bond. 4. Love-Starved Husband, Substory 13 Down beside the river near the bridge to Gion in Rakunai. Bring home-cooked meals over successive visits until Ryoma explains who's actually cooking them. Finish the conversation and collect the Hungry Man's Bento. 5. Sword Nut, Substory 25 In southern Sannocho, Rakugai, opposite Scarecrow Chateau. He wants to see these swords, in order: • Ebony Sword: Nameless Sword + 1 Crooked Magnet + 5 Iron Scrap. • Yaksha Blade: Ebony Sword + 1 Picture of a Ghost + 5 Metal Sheet. • Vulpecula: Handy Blade + 1 Beautiful Leaf + 5 Metal Sheet. • King of Beasts: Vulpecula + 1 Emerald + 5 Precious Steel. Craft them at Kurogane Smithing. Show him Ebony Sword before upgrading it into Yaksha Blade, and Vulpecula before upgrading it into King of Beasts. Showing a weapon doesn't consume it; crafting its upgrade does. The reward for the completed bond is Tunasmith. The Mysterious Merchant sells Picture of a Ghost once his shop opens. 6. Battered Defender, Substory 26 At the northern Fushimi approach to Rakugai. Give him medicine, then return when he's injured again. Fill the recovery bar above him, not just one item per visit. Stronger medicine fills more of it. Keep returning until his final event plays out. 7. Amnesiac, Substory 65 On the forest road to Kiyomizu Temple, reached from Sannocho. Treat him whenever you find him unconscious. Fill his recovery bar and return for the later incidents. The concluding scene ends the pattern; waking him once doesn't finish the friendship. 8. Oblivious Woman, Substory 14 Near Rakunai's palanquin on Karasuma Street. Bring vegetables on repeat visits until the missing-purse situation is resolved. 9. Veggie-Loving Boy, Substory 66 On Mibu's lower road near the entrance. Feed him vegetables until his mother's dislike of them becomes the problem. Make Refreshing Vegetable Salad at home, bring it back, then return once more for the final conversation. Make a Premium version to cover the request without having to cook it again. 10. Desperate Fisherman, Substory 50 At the Fushimi waterfront on Shinmachi. Give him fish on repeat visits, then finish the conversation where Ryoma helps him learn to fish himself. 11. Injured Grandma, Substory 15 Visit her home on Shinmeicho in Rakunai after helping her in the introductory substory. Her requests are Ointment, All-Purpose Medicine and Yokan. Don Quijote sells Ointment and Yokan; Ecchudo sells All-Purpose Medicine. Return after those errands for the last conversation. 12. Mysterious Merchant, Substory 27 South of the Rakugai Arms Dealer, climb the small steps by the well and approach the wooden shack to the west. His requests are: • 10 tomatoes, grown at the farm. • A Loincloth, sold by the nearby arms dealer. • Scrap Paper, available as the lottery's lowest prize in Fushimi. • Natto, sold at Fermented Goods and the Rice Shop on western Shijo Street. • Ginseng, grown after purchasing its farming unlock with Virtue. Leave and return between deliveries. These requests open his shop. Buy a spare Loincloth rather than accidentally handing over one you wanted to keep. 13. Sexy Madam, Substory 59 Under a tree near Kitchen Aoba in Gion. Her vegetable requests run cucumber, carrot, eggplant, daikon and pumpkin. Bring each requested item on the next visit. 14. Junk Boy, Substory 51 Between buildings behind Teradaya in Fushimi's Kuramachi area. Give him cheap spare items. Continue through the disagreement with his friend, then leave and return for the final conversation. 15. Trash Dealer, Substory 35 Near Mukurogai's northern gate. Bring unwanted items, such as Scrap Paper. Keep returning until the later conversation about his situation finishes the bond. 16. Wood Cutter, Substory 52 Beside the palanquin in South Yashikimachi, Fushimi. Cut 300 logs in total. After he leaves to sell the wood, leave the area and return to speak to him again. You don't need a single uninterrupted 300-log run. 17. Frequently Lost Courier, Substory 53 At the waterfront near Teradaya. Complete his introductory conversations, then deliver his parcels. Read each parcel's description under Inventory → Valuables for the recipient's area and identifying details. Continue until the family story concludes. The separate 20-delivery Diligence requirement can outlast the friendship. THE SIX ANIMALS These are bonds too. All six eventually move into your Another Life home; naming and adopting them confirms you've reached the end. 18. Barking Dog, Substory 16: Teramachi alley, Rakunai. Bring Bones from nearby Ebisu Pawn and return through the neighborhood dispute. 19. Injured Dog, Substory 36: Northern Mukurogai. Treat its injuries, then return to confront the people hurting it. 20. Patient Dog, Substory 54: Yashikimachi, western Fushimi. Feed it until the story about its owner concludes. 21. Hungry Cat, Substory 28: East Umekojicho, Rakugai. Feed fish; later requests specifically require sea bream and tuna. 22. Filthy Cat, Substory 55: South Yashikimachi pier, Fushimi. Keep cleaning it. When it disappears, check farther east toward the crowd for the last event. 23. Lucky Cat, Substory 17: Karasuma Street, Rakunai. Fulfill its money requests, follow it at the end and defeat the bandits. The separate pet guide covers the full adoption steps, money amounts and fishing locations. Once these 23 bonds and all 24 shop friendships are marked complete, you've finished the friendship requirements for Everybody Loves Ryoma.
