Like a Dragon: Ishin! (2023): adopting all six cats and dogs The animals become available after you unlock Another Life in Chapter 4. Each has a substory that starts a friendship. Finishing the first encounter isn't the adoption: you need to keep helping until the bond is complete. Three dogs Barking Dog, substory 16: look in the Teramachi alley in eastern Rakunai. Bring Bones, which cost 100 mon at nearby Ebisu Pawn Rakunai. Give the dog three across its encounters, then return for the final event and adoption. Injured Dog, substory 36: search the northern part of Mukurogai for the dog lying injured on the ground. Give it medicine; ordinary Ointment works. Keep returning with treatment. Later you'll discover men hurting it. Come back for the final confrontation, defeat them and adopt the dog. Patient Dog, substory 54: this one waits in Yashikimachi on the western side of Fushimi. Bring food from your inventory and continue feeding it on later visits. Finish its story once the bond is full and Ryoma will take it home. Three cats Filthy Cat, substory 55: check the pier in South Yashikimachi, Fushimi. Walk right up to the edge near the cat if the interaction prompt doesn't appear immediately. You don't need a purchased gift; choose to help clean it. After several encounters it won't be in the usual place. Look a little farther east toward the crowd to finish the event and bring it home. Hungry Cat, substory 28: find it on the ground in East Umekojicho, Rakugai. Feed it fish. Ordinary fish work at first, but later it specifically wants sea bream, followed by tuna. Sea bream can be caught at the Fishing Banks and bluefin tuna at the East Coast. Both trips leave from the fisherman south of Teradaya. Keep those two fish rather than selling every catch or using them in orders. Lucky Cat, substory 17: look along Karasuma Street in northwestern Rakunai. It wants money in increasing amounts: 1,000 mon, 2,000, 3,000, 5,000, then 1 ryo. Have 2 ryo and 1,000 mon available if you want enough to cover every request without depending on intermediate returns. For the last event, follow the cat east and deal with the bandits. You'll receive 5 ryo and be able to adopt it. If a bond doesn't advance again immediately, leave the area and return. Don't assume the first completed substory means the animal is already living at your house. Back at the farm The dogs stay outside and the cats stay indoors. You can name them when adopting them. Interact with them when you visit: feed, pet or play, and pay attention to what Ryoma says about their mood. The dog-house and cat-bed upgrades improve their item benefits. Dogs can leave pickups in the yard; cats can help bring extra rewards when you fulfill Trade Orders. These are useful sources of materials while you're already farming and cooking. For completion, check both places in the menus: Another Life wants all six pets adopted, while the Diligence Records also track your interactions with them. Adopting the animals and then never visiting them again leaves that second job unfinished.
