All right, next is Lost Judgment: The Kaito Files. This is the four-chapter story expansion that puts Kaito in the lead while Yagami is away. Play Judgment, then Lost Judgment, then this. The story takes place after Lost Judgment, and knowing Kaito's history with the agency and the Matsugane Family gives the returning locations and relationships more context. This post covers the setup. The guides contain full story spoilers, including the final bosses. The story deals with domestic abuse, murder and an apparent suicide. The case begins with an offer to find a wealthy man's missing wife. The woman is Mikiko, someone Kaito had a relationship with years earlier. Then her son Jun enters the picture, claiming Kaito might be his father. Kaito now has a personal reason to find her. Jun wants answers about his mother and his own family. Kaito doesn't know yet whether Jun is his son, but he still has to look after him while they search for Mikiko. Kaito has spent much of the series backing Yagami up. This time he has to lead the investigation, decide whom to trust, and deal with the consequences of his own past decisions. The flashbacks show Kaito's relationship with Mikiko and why they separated. With Jun beside him, he has to face what happened between them instead of leaving it in the past. The combat is built around Kaito's strength. Bruiser gives him punches, quickstep attacks and counters. Tank lets him defend, grab people and turn nearby objects into weapons. Bicycles and other large objects make effective weapons. If you remember the heavier styles from the older games, that part will feel familiar, but Kaito also has his own upgrades and moves to learn. His investigation tools fit the same approach. Primal Eye handles what he can see, Primal Ear picks up sounds, and Primal Nose finds scents. Use the right sense for each target. Use Primal Ear to find and examine cats. An object that looks ordinary may have a scent worth checking. Some memories are attached to a particular sign or doorway rather than an obvious item on the pavement. Those memories are one of the ways the DLC connects its progression to Kaito's history. Familiar places can prompt a recollection and make a new skill available. You still have to spend SP to learn it. Check the skill menu after finding each memory and purchase its move. The DLC focuses on the four-chapter investigation, Kaito's combat, and collectibles around Kamurocho. Some familiar minigames remain available, but there are no School Stories, Side Cases, or TownGo checklist for Kaito. Finishing the story earns four of the DLC's five trophies. The remaining one asks you to beat all the masked warriors. Reaching the last warrior means working through the skill tree, which brings the memories, cats, crests, skill books and combat conditions together. There are 11 memories, 20 cats and 20 scent pickups. The 20 Matsugane Family Crests are included among the cats and scents, with ten coming from each. They are not another twenty objects on top of those forty discoveries. The Bloody Crest is a separate accessory with a different purpose, so do not confuse the two names. The Kaito Files has no Premium Adventure. Keep a separate save during the final Chapter 4 free-roam window, before taking the taxi for the last story confrontation. Finish the optional challenge from that save if you want the complete DLC trophy set. The guides cover all four chapters, the 71 skills, every collectible location, and the masked-warrior fights.
