Lost Judgment: Boxing Gym, all 21 opponents, skills, and first-round knockouts
You can replay the boxing opponents after finishing the investigation. If a first-round knockout is taking too many attempts, continue the story and return with better stats and more techniques.
There are 21 base-game opponents in the completion list. Chizuru Sakuma appears twice, once in each of two tiers. The early scripted Oshikiri encounter and the enraged stage of his finale are not extra first-round knockout targets.
Starting at the gym
Boxing becomes available at Focus 2 with the relevant School Stories progression. Get Amasawa's briefing, then visit Todoroki Boxing Gym in southwest Ijincho, near the homeless camp. Speak to Todoroki again after his initial dismissal and complete the tutorial.
You have a jab, straight, and hook, plus high/low aiming, guard, and directional quicksteps. Aim at the body when the head is covered and switch back when the guard drops. Hooks are useful for breaking through but spend more stamina. Repeatedly exhausting your stamina leaves you unable to defend.
Guard and movement let stamina recover. A properly timed guard or quickstep creates an opening, especially after you buy the matching counter technique. When an opponent glows before a heavy attack, step to the side and counter after it misses.
The EX gauge must be full to activate the boxing boost. A knockdown or the end of a round ends the boost, so do not spend the meter immediately before an easy knockdown if you could use it against the opponent's fresh health bar instead.
The first Oshikiri fight
After beating Iwashita, follow the EX tutorial and survive the first Oshikiri fight. This scripted encounter does not count toward the first-round knockout list, but being knocked out yourself can still fail it. Concentrate on defending until the scene ends.
Afterwards, Todoroki's paid training opens. Check it after new victories because several useful techniques unlock through specific opponents.
All 21 opponents
Tier 1:
- 1-1 Yuma Iwashita: opening opponent, Out-Boxer. Basic guard/counter practice.
- 1-2 Makoto Ichinose: Out-Boxer. Close distance instead of swinging at empty space.
- 1-3 Issa Fujiyama: Swarmer. Let his attack finish, then punish without draining your whole stamina bar.
- 1-4 Mori Shuichi: Out-Boxer, available after the initial three and the story event. Watch for his stronger punches.
- 1-5 Kazuo Marciano: Swarmer, available alongside Mori. Watch his opening left jab and counter from the side.
- 1-6 Gaku Onidake: first showdown, Peek-a-Boo style. His red-glow weave precedes the dangerous attack.
After the initial sparring group, tail Oshikiri into the Bar District and defeat the men who confront him. Return for the boxing manual and continue the newly available matches. Defeat Onidake, speak with him outside the gym, and follow the investigation into the Genbukai.
Tier 2:
- 2-1 Shingo Ninomiya: Swarmer.
- 2-2 Koji Oyama: Detroit style. Pressure the openings in his guard, but do not absorb his power punches.
- 2-3 Jiro Koda: Peek-a-Boo. More health and power, with openings when he commits.
- 2-4 Kai Nito: Out-Boxer. Stay ready for his combinations.
- 2-5 Chizuru Sakuma, also listed as Chizuru the Lancer: showdown, Detroit style. Sidestep his charged attacks.
Speak to Amasawa about the Genbukai, return to the gym, and clear the four sparring opponents before Chizuru. Meet him at Bar Rodriguez afterwards. The following act waits for main-story Chapter 5.
Tier 3:
- 3-1 Sanpei García: Out-Boxer. Chase deliberately; do not whiff while he retreats.
- 3-2 Kakeru Sanyama: Boxer-Fighter. Watch the wide swing.
- 3-3 Kozo Wakita: Swarmer, opens after the first two and the Smile Burger visit. Change levels against his guard.
- 3-4 Takashi Sannabe: Out-Boxer, follows Wakita.
- 3-5 Takeru Mikimoto: showdown, Out-Boxer. He gives you head-shot opportunities but has dangerous combinations and a large health pool.
After the first two, investigate Oshikiri's job at the Smile Burger truck near the batting center. Return, beat Wakita and Sannabe, then speak to Amasawa outside. Beat Mikimoto and meet Todoroki at Bar Rodriguez. The last act needs Chapter 8.
Tier 4:
- 4-1 Kazuki Himekawa: Swarmer. Durable and dangerous when his special combination starts. Do not keep throwing into it.
- 4-2 Yum Woon Sen: Boxer-Fighter. Work around his high guard and early jabs.
- 4-3 Chizuru Sakuma/Chizuru the Lancer, heavyweight rematch: Detroit style. Treat this as a second TownGo opponent. His punches do much more damage than in the earlier match.
- 4-4 Go Todoroki: Peek-a-Boo. Strong defense, but his stamina gives you a route to a knockdown.
- 4-5 Kenya Oshikiri: the final, fair version used for replay and TownGo.
After the first two, visit Amasawa at the MRC to plan the trap. Defeat heavyweight Chizuru, leave the gym, and re-enter for Todoroki. Once Todoroki is beaten, visit the MRC, agree to the operation, and equip a disguise. Finish the scenes before returning to Oshikiri.
The finale has successive Oshikiri phases. The enraged middle version is much tougher and only needs its required knockdown to move the scene forward. A full-gauge EX Cross Counter is especially useful there. The final version is the one that matters for the replay/first-round target.
After the boxing, fight Honda's Neo Keihin group outside, then win the two-on-two encounter alongside Oshikiri. Complete the MRC follow-up to finish the investigation and earn Everybody Can Change.
Getting first-round knockouts
End the match before the first-round bell. You need a knockout for the full count or three knockdowns within that round.
1. Build the EX meter without wasting your own stamina.
2. Take the first ordinary knockdown if it is available.
3. Use the full meter for a second knockdown through an EX technique or boost after the opponent rises.
4. Finish the remaining health bar aggressively, but recover stamina under guard whenever it gets low.
5. If the bell ends round one, that attempt no longer meets the requirement. Win for training if useful, then retry.
Against Todoroki, wait for him to exhaust his stamina, then use EX Piercing Straight. Against Oshikiri in the replay, dodge the counterpunch after his deflection and hit him while he recovers.
Bouts improve your boxing attributes. If you cannot do enough damage before the bell, replay a late opponent you can beat to raise those stats, then try again.
