Lost Judgment: Side Cases 1–20
There are 42 Side Cases in the base game. The Detective Essentials Pack adds twelve more, all connected to its three additional girlfriends. This guide covers the base list, with the case names you'll see in the menu and the request-board names where those differ.
Nothing here is permanently missable. If a marker isn't appearing, check the chapter, time of day, previous case in the chain, and whether the main story currently has somebody following you. The Check Requests app lets you review requests, but accepting them still means visiting the appropriate office board.
1. Skateboard Detective vs. the Reseller
This is part of Chapter 1. Finish the chase and the story sequence that gives Yagami his Blue Tribal skateboard. You don't have to buy a board to open the system.
2. The Falling Man
This is the Chapter 3 introduction to Buzz Researcher and the Noise Amp. Follow the “arachnid man” lead and use the amplifier to locate the man above street level. Let the investigation finish and report back as directed. The wider Side Case selection opens around this point.
3. The Café Robber
In Kamurocho, approach the scene on Tenkaichi Street opposite Poppo. After hearing about the film, search “Office Alone 4” in Buzz Researcher and go to Café Alps.
Examine the sign on the door. Rotate it and check the lower-right corner for the SOS. Enter from the back after picking the lock. Choose the cardboard box as your cover and advance only while the robber isn't looking. Finish the confrontation and chase. The reward includes the Smoke Bomb Tactic extract recipe.
4. Trying the Patience of a Saint
Available from Chapter 4 in Seiryo High's third-floor hallway, during the daytime/evening school period. See the students provoking Ebisu, meet Amasawa in the MRC room, then visit the second-floor faculty room.
There are three trap checks:
- Classroom entrance: the eraser over the door.
- Chair: the cushion and the suspicious floor/carpet beneath it. Say “Not yet” after the first find so you can examine the second.
- Bathroom: the eraser in the doorway and the altered bathroom sign.
Speak to Ebisu when the checks are finished. The final sequence involves fighting the students and then Ebisu himself. His wrestling grabs do serious damage, so don't approach him with an almost empty health bar just because the setup was a comedy case.
5. Where is the Time Capsule?
Speak to the three former students in Seiryo High's courtyard. At the northwest corner, examine the distant Ferris wheel and the nearby tree along the wall. Bring the capsule back and suggest that someone else took theirs by mistake.
The search then moves to Chinatown. Use the sketch to identify the woman in a white coat outside the restaurant. Finish the conversation to close the case. Finding the first capsule is only the midpoint.
6. Where the Kappa Roam
From Chapter 4, go to North Sakura River Street west of the Tsurukame Highway Poppo. Stop the man using a kappa statue as a weapon, then agree to recover the seven remaining statues. That's one introductory statue plus seven recoveries, rather than seven statues altogether.
Here are all seven:
- The riverside fisherman between Fukutoku Bridge and Tsurukame Bridge. Help him bring in his catch.
- Benten Pawn, for ¥100. If it isn't stocked, first listen to the nearby conversation about someone pawning a statue around the homeless-camp/Tsurukame Bridge area.
- The southwest corner of the map, where South Sakura River Street meets Misaki Street. Examine the foam statue beside the real riverside statue.
- The man running around the homeless camp carrying one overhead. Speak to him and complete the chase.
- The rubbish along the south side of the Girl's Bite building on East Central Street.
- The fenced drone-registration field northwest in Ijincho. Speak to the people using one as a soccer target.
- Yokohama 99. This last one appears after the other six recoveries; go inside to find Tsukumo using it.
The important reward is Free Pass Voucher 4 for Dice & Cube.
7. The SRC's Hunt for the Truth
Listen to the students outside Seiryo High to get “UFO.” Search it and visit the empty area by Survive Bar at night. Look up in Observation Mode and wait for the blue object to pause before examining it.
The investigation then goes to the parking lot near Hello Work, upstairs in Wette Kitchen, Fukutoku Park, and finally Seiryo High's courtyard and rooftop. Refresh the UFO search when the current conversation ends rather than repeatedly returning to the first sighting.
For both photo sequences, aim at a place where the object stops, set the zoom/focus, and use Focus Time when it enters the frame. Check the photo conditions before shooting. The case ends with a chase, so keep following the prompts after the rooftop photograph.
8. The Invisible Burglar
In Kamurocho, listen at the hangout south of the Champion District for the “stalker” lead. Search it, then inspect the man perched high above Senryo Avenue. Speak to him and enter the apartment across the street.
Examine the food/snack evidence, insecticide, refrigerator, ceiling hatch and handprint, safe, and sword. Use the Noise Amp on the hatch. The answer is that the thief is still in the attic; use the roach exterminator to drive him out. Finishing gives the Provocateur extract recipe.
9. The Body Model Walks at Night!!!
Get the “body model” keyword near the school and investigate the first-floor marker at night. The search moves upstairs. Use the Noise Amp down the hallway until you reach the correct sound, then catch the fleeing model.
This isn't over when the chase ends. Return during the day and speak to the student in the cafeteria for the final conversation and completion.
10. Dueling Dojos
Accept “The Saga Continues: Ryan's Rival Appears!” from the Yagami Detective Agency board in Kamurocho. Meet Ryan at M Side Café. Look above the stairs if you can't immediately see him.
Visit the rival dojo on Senryo Avenue in the supplied disguise. Complete Kalashnikov's chase and his darts challenge, then win the fight with him and the students. Follow through with Ryan's duel scene afterward. The Training Band is the useful reward here.
11. The Forbidden Taste
Accept this from Yokohama 99, then meet Joe at Meng Wu in Chinatown. Search “phantom ramen stall” and listen to the three conversations around Chinatown all the way through. Return to Joe, then investigate the cat south of the restaurant.
Your first attempt doesn't work. Nekomiya's arrival introduces the proper cat-befriending system. Choose a name for each cat and remember which one belongs to it. Correctly calling the name lets you pet it, look at it, or give food. Food raises affection more quickly.
Max one cat's affection, then return to the front of Yokohama 99 at night. The cat leads you to the stall, and the case rewards Book of the Ravenous. The other cats remain useful afterward because their individual rewards include books, a record, equipment, extracts, and a VR voucher.
12. Paradise VR Unlocked!
Speak to Tashiro in his gold tracksuit near Sesil Café on Hamakita Park Avenue. Play the introductory Dice & Cube session. It teaches the board rules and opens the venue. You don't need to finish every course for this introductory case.
13. Paradise VR Upgraded!
Return after the introduction. Tashiro adds the Strong Rivals. Defeat every named Strong Rival, selecting them when starting a game. A normal anonymous opponent doesn't count as one of these.
There are seven named rivals. Keep track of which ones you have beaten. Short Standard is a convenient choice when the goal is a particular rival rather than a long-course payout. The separate Dice & Cube guide covers the roster, unlocks, course goals, and six Free Pass Vouchers.
14. Let the Drones Fly!
Visit the drone-registration area east of MIRAI Batting Center. Complete the introductory race/test flight to open registration and the parts service. This is the activity unlock, not the trophy for winning the Grand Prix series.
15. Extracting the Past
This happens through the Chapter 3 story. Help Iyama, follow the extract introduction, and bring him Mugwort. If you haven't picked any up, Flowers 2 Go in Hamakita Park sells it for ¥5,000. Completing this gives access to the extract shop and the early recipes.
16. Extracting the Truth
Return to Iyama after his introduction. Bring the ingredients in the requested order: Rose, Garlic, Four-Leaf Clover. Flowers 2 Go sells the flower and clover; Hero's Harvest in Hamakita Park sells garlic. These unlock Willow Snake, Rushing Tiger, and Dancing Crane respectively.
When experimenting, remember that only one extract effect runs at a time. Drinking the next one replaces the previous effect.
17. A New Partner?
This is the Chapter 4 introduction to Ranpo. Follow the dog and complete the investigation. Several later cases and collectible rewards expect you to have him, so a missing dog-related request earlier in the story isn't a broken unlock.
18. The Chaos of the Masked Writer
From Chapter 5, when Yagami is free to investigate alone, accept “Please Investigate a Corporate Spy” at Yokohama 99. The actual client is in Kamurocho, on the third floor of the Lullaby Mahjong building.
Speak to the four groups inside, then the writer on the roof. Back inside, use Ranpo around the meeting-table ashtray and window. Examine the stain and fur on the windowsill. Follow the scent onto the roof to the cat-food can.
Present the deductions in this order: listening device, can of cat food, animal fur, sound of firecrackers, and a suspect from outside the group. Finish the pursuit and confrontation. Your reward includes Showa Duel Records: Earth.
19. Flight of the Game Creator
After obtaining Ranpo, accept “Find Our Runaway Game Director” from Yokohama 99. Meet the client upstairs in Wette Kitchen, then search the homeless camp. Inspect the bearded man in the gray jacket at its southern end.
The decoy is part of the case. Examine the laptop beside him and let Ranpo follow its scent to the real director. Finish the conversation and fight with the producer. Die Hard is the extract-recipe reward.
20. A Particularly Hardcore Demo Event
After the previous case, accept “On-Site Demo Test” from Yokohama 99 and meet the developers outside VR Paradise. Play their Aircelios demonstration, then resolve the argument with another fight.
The demo does not require a perfect score. Completing it opens regular Aircelios play and gives Enhancement Contacts 1. You can then buy the later missions and work on the nine score targets and final-mission trophy.
The next part covers the whole Dastardly Detective chain, the squirrel finale, the school-linked cases, Emily, and the final Amon request.
