Judgment: What You Can Actually Miss
If you're starting Judgment for the platinum or all achievements, keep this one nearby. You can finish the side cases, friendships, and KamuroGo work after the story. The things below are the ones that need attention while you're moving through the main case.
There are seven story-related missable trophies. One runs across the whole game. The other six happen during particular scenes. Keep rotating manual saves, with a separate save before each chapter's important investigation. A save from before a mistake can save you another playthrough. A save made afterward can't undo it.
Spoilers below for investigation settings, dialogue choices, and late-game evidence names.
The cats: 14 story searches, one playthrough
For “Oh Look, a Cat!” you need all 14 required cats in the same playthrough. Optional side-case cats and the cats you photograph for Nekomiya are different objectives. They won't replace one you missed in the story.
During an investigation, find the cat and use the examination prompt before completing the search objective. Seeing it on your screen isn't enough. Listen for the meowing and check that Yagami actually acknowledges the cat.
Six are in Chapter 1:
1. When looking for your drone in the Champion District, check the outdoor air-conditioning unit beside you.
2. Outside Club Amour, while finding the security camera, turn around and check the doorway at the northeast edge of the search area.
3. Outside KJ Art, while looking for Kaito, inspect the cat on the vending machine near the entrance.
4. During the drone search for Murase, fly up to KJ Art's rooftop corner closest to your starting side, the northwest corner. The cat is on the ledge.
5. Inside KJ Art's security room, look through the window and beyond the building's front doorway. The cat is outside at ground level.
6. Near Kyushu No. 1 Star, during the security-camera search, inspect the ground beyond the southern end of the accessible alley.
Chapter 2:
7. At the second murder scene in Tenkaichi Alley, look up at the ledge above the yellow crates on the left/northwest side.
Chapter 4:
8. During the cake investigation at Genda Law Office, look out the window toward Club SEGA. The cat is across the street on an electrical box, by the blue shutter. Although “Justice Is Sweet” is listed as a side case, this story-required search DOES count.
Chapter 5:
9. During the investigation inside Yagami's office, look through the south-facing window toward the entrance across the street, near the bicycle.
10. During the ADDC flashback, in the patient's room, look outside and down toward the base of the pillar supporting the connecting walkway.
Chapter 7:
11. While investigating Kaito's fight on Suppon Street, go toward the truck and inspect behind the fallen sign at the western end.
Chapter 8:
12. While searching the Matsugane office for electrical outlets, check the far window. The cat is visible through the gap beneath the blinds. Do this before finishing the timed search.
Chapter 9:
13. While looking for Shono in the ADDC lobby, look through the large window at the southeast side. The cat is immediately outside.
Finale:
14. During the search for the gold keycard at the ADDC, look outside to the right of the walkway toward the Research Wing. The cat is on the ground near the tree and bushes.
There are no additional required cats in Chapters 3, 6, 10, 11, or 12. The trophy should unlock at the last cat. If it doesn't, don't assume photographing random cats around town will repair it. Reload a save from before the missing search and continue from there, or collect all 14 again in another playthrough.
Chapter 2: I'll Make It Double
Save when you first enter L'Amant and receive the introductory chips. During this specific story visit, earn a net increase of 300 chips at poker or blackjack before leaving the game. On a fresh run, that takes your 300 starting chips to 600.
Don't quit the table to try the other game. Quitting advances this part of the story. If the session goes badly, reload the save. Coming back to the casino later doesn't count for this trophy. On New Game+, the target is still a 300-chip gain during the scene, not doubling a huge balance carried over from your previous run.
Chapter 5: Way Too Thorough!
Save before going to the ADDC. During the flashback investigation in the patient's room, examine Terasawa's face, chest, and backside before finishing the room's evidence search. All three examination points are required. Your later investigation upgrades aren't available in this flashback.
The cat in this room is a separate requirement, so get both before leaving.
Chapter 7: The Art of Conversation
Save BEFORE entering the hair salon. You'll be committed to the next sequence afterward, and Saori's outfit or makeup doesn't decide the trophy.
Use these choices at the club:
- “My name is Saori.”
- “Were you asleep?”
- In the dressing-room exchange: “Hashiki-san?!”
- “Give Mika a sign.”
- “Get close to him.”
Follow the sequence through the last customer. If you choose the wrong response, reload the salon save rather than carrying on and hoping the scene will still count.
Chapter 8: Professional Password Presenter
Save before speaking at the closed gambling-hall entrance in the Champion District. The first attempt must be correct:
- Knock three times.
- “Can I talk to Moon?”
- “Chateaubriand, blue.”
The wording is odd on purpose. This is one place where guessing costs you the trophy for that attempt.
Chapter 12: Hung Jury
Save outside the abandoned hotel before entering. When Sugiura is hanging and the three-minute timer starts, defeat one attacker and reduce the other to very low health. Keep the last enemy alive until fewer than ten seconds remain, then finish the fight.
I would aim for roughly five to eight seconds remaining, rather than trying to interpret the exact ten-second boundary. Don't wait until the final second either. You still need the hit to connect.
Avoid accidental finishing damage while waiting, including damage from escaping a grab. The goal is to time the last knockout, not simply wait beside Sugiura after both enemies are already down.
Finale: The Final Nail
Make a fresh save at Genda Law Office before leaving for the trial. Use the correct evidence sequence:
- “It created cushy retirement positions.”
- Shintani's Phone Log.
- Shono's Connection to the Kyorei Clan Murders.
- Hamura and Ichinose's Missing Link.
Don't experiment with the evidence if you're doing the trophy. Save the speculation for outside the selection menu.
Three free skill books worth collecting
These are recoverable later, so missing one doesn't permanently ruin Skill Master. Still, collecting them during the story avoids spending extra SP at Onodera's shop.
- Chapter 1, KJ Art: during the drone reconnaissance, examine the man reading a book. Later, reach the fourth-floor room with the code 8919 and collect Rush Training. The earlier observation matters; don't skip it and assume the code alone will make the book appear.
- Chapter 6, Honmaruen: in the red-carpeted section, unlock the first door on the right, then the next locked door. Collect Secret Technique: Reverse Beatdown inside.
- Chapter 12, the secret laboratory in Monsieur Lee: on the second floor, check the second room along the right-hand corridor for Secret Technique: Front Beatdown before moving on to the rescue.
One last thing: finish your optional cleanup in Premium Adventure before using that save for New Game+. Keep the completed save separately. Side cases and friendships don't carry forward as completed work in the new story run.
