LIKE A DRAGON: PIRATE YAKUZA IN HAWAII ALL 31 SUBSTORIES: LOCATIONS, REQUIREMENTS AND REWARDS Alright, here’s the substory checklist with the details that matter when you’re actually clearing it: where to start, what has to happen first, what to do, and what you get. There are story spoilers below. Entries 1–23 become available during Chapter 2; 24–31 belong to Chapter 3. Several Chapter 2 markers appear only after the early Honolulu introductions, so keep following the story if a location is empty. The rewards here are the named items, money, recruits and activity unlocks tied to each story. Ordinary combat drops and separate activity milestones aren’t being added to an invented grand total. A recruit unlocked for purchase is marked separately from someone who joins immediately. CHAPTER 2 [ ] 1. Kamulop, Fortunes Unfolded Start: Fuji Street in Little Japan, during the story trip from Revolve toward Shinobi Sushi. Follow Kamulop to the shrine and deal with the troublemakers. This is one of the early story introductions rather than a hidden optional encounter. Reward: the Fortune Exchange opens, letting you collect and trade paper fortunes found around Honolulu. Kamulop’s own crew recruitment is a later Fortune Exchange purchase, not an automatic reward for this introduction. [ ] 2. The Symbol of the City, the Street Surfer Start: Aloha Street near the beach during Chapter 2’s introductory story route. Meet Oka, take the short Street Surfer test ride, then beat the men who interrupt. Follow the tutorial controls; this isn’t a race with a score requirement. Rewards: the Street Surfer, Battery Pack α and Oka as a crew member. Having the board early makes the repeated restaurant visits and cross-town substory stops much quicker. [ ] 3. An Alo-Happy Rally Start: Alo-Happy Tours inside Worldwide Market Village. The story takes you there during Chapter 2. Complete the introductory storefront photograph to open Photo Rally. For the full follow-through, finish two entire area cards and return to Alo-Happy Tours: the first completed area brings Alo-Happy into the crew, and the second brings Elizabeth. Rewards: Photo Rally access, followed by Alo-Happy and Elizabeth at those separate completion milestones. Each finished card also has its own activity reward. The tutorial photograph alone doesn’t earn both recruits. [ ] 4. The Kitten in District Five Start: the District Five approach on Anaconda Boulevard, during the story journey toward Diamond Head. Investigate the kitten and defeat the men threatening it. Continue the rescue scenes with Noah. Rewards: Onigiri the cat and access to animal rescue through Goro Goro Kingdom. Onigiri belongs to the animal collection; this isn’t a human crew recruitment. [ ] 5. Stay Crazy Start: Charlie by the fountain in Sunset Park, Downtown, after the early Street Surfer introduction. Visit during the day. Play the three-minute Crazy Delivery trial. You only need to finish this introductory run; a high rank isn’t required to close the substory. Rewards: Crazy Delivery access and $30. The introductory payment is fixed rather than a promise that every later run pays the same amount. Charlie’s later recruitment belongs to the activity’s progression, not this first delivery. [ ] 6. The Smartest Pirate Crew! Start: Ounabara Vocational School on Harbor Street in the Cultural District, after the Street Surfer introduction. Talk to Mifune and take the opening Ocean World exam. It contains five questions and needs three correct answers to pass, but the substory itself ends even if you fail. Reward: Ounabara Vocational School opens. Passing earns the first certificate and its 1,000 Reputation award. Ikari is a later reward for collecting 10 certificates, so don’t expect him to join after this one test. [ ] 7. Dragon Kart in Paradise Start: the Dragon Kart facility at the end of Anaconda Harbor Park’s pier, after the early Honolulu introductions. Speak to Ran and finish the tutorial race. Your finishing position doesn’t prevent this introductory substory from clearing. Reward: Dragon Kart access. The major character recruits and ring rewards are attached to its later substories, listed next. [ ] 8. The Fastest in Hawaii Requirements: win the Resort, Urban and Festival Cups, plus all three rival elimination duels unlocked along the way. Start: return to Ran at Dragon Kart and back out of the activity menu to trigger the next event. Beat Ran in the Elimination Duel. Protect your kart’s health as well as your position; losing all its HP ends the attempt. Rewards: Ran joins the crew, the Rising Dragon kart becomes available to purchase, and the follow-up substory opens. Unlocking the kart doesn’t give it to you for free. [ ] 9. The Path to Speed Requirements: complete #8, then speak to Ran again at Dragon Kart. The next challenge pits you against the Robo Michio squad. Win the elimination event, using pickups and barriers to preserve your health while dealing damage. Treat survival as part of the objective rather than driving it like a normal time trial. Rewards: White Tiger Ring, Robo Michio Mach as a crew member, and the Legend Wave kart unlocked for purchase. [ ] 10. Snap Those Sickos! Again! Start: the Aloha Beach trolley stop after the Photo Rally introduction. Wait for and board the trolley to meet Kuroki. Play the first Sicko Snap course. This tutorial substory clears regardless of your score, so a poor first attempt doesn’t lock you out of the activity. Rewards: Sicko Snap access and $100. Passing all the regular courses is a separate requirement for #11. [ ] 11. The Sicko Snap Saga Requirements: clear all three regular Sicko Snap routes: Waikiki Resort Line at 3,000 points, Harbor Line at 6,000, and Night Square Line at 8,000. Speak to Kuroki at the trolley stop, then choose the new Crystal Papillon Island outing. Reach 10,000 points to bring out the boss, then photograph the exposed crystal repeatedly until its gauge is empty. Simply reaching the course score doesn’t finish the substory. Rewards: Scope Ring and Kuroki as a crew member. Crystal Papillon is then added to the exchange for 22,000 points. The Scope Ring marks treasure chests and paper fortunes on the minimap. [ ] 12. The Magic of Food Start: Soleil at Crystal Aloha Resort, beside Aloha Beach, after the early Honolulu introductions. Order something to meet Hauser. Leave the area, return and order again, then repeat the visit-and-order process for a third meal. Return for the final confrontation and defeat the two chefs. Food choices don’t change the final reward. Rewards: Hawaiian Gold Ring and Hauser as a crew member. Budget for the meals, but there is no single fixed meal bill because you choose what to order. [ ] 13. Smile Again Start: Jeff’s Taco Truck on Waikiki Street, north of Worldwide Market Village. Accept the opening taco, then keep returning to buy food as the story with Kirk develops. Leave the area between visits so the next scene can appear. Continue until the confrontation with the suspicious men, then win the fight. Rewards: Hawaiian Silver Ring and Jeff as a crew member. The way you react to the opening spicy taco doesn’t change these rewards. [ ] 14. Goro’s Heart Start: Russell near the waterfront benches and Emma’s Lemonade Stand in Anaconda Harbor Park. Agree to help test his device and follow the scenes with Goro. Choose whichever responses you like during the test; money spent through this sequence is returned at the end. Rewards: Double Silver Ring and Russell as a crew member. You don’t need to find a particular dialogue ending to recruit him. [ ] 15. If I Weren’t an Idol Start: the distressed man near the Orphanage taxi stop by Sunset Park, during the day. Advance through the early Photo Rally introduction first. Join the idol tour, then cross Anaconda Shopping Center within the two-minute limit without bumping into people. Walk carefully toward the northern exit and use the escalator down. Retry the escort if necessary, then defeat the manager in the final fight. Rewards: three crew members, Gu-san, Broto-Op and Mr. Six. [ ] 16. The Miracle Aquarium Start: Yasuda by the western Anaconda Shopping Center entrance on Sunset Street. Take his flyer, then visit the aquarium show in Anaconda Harbor Park. Follow the performance until the bear fight and win it. Leave room to dodge instead of standing in front of the animal through its attacks. Reward: Stephanie-chan joins as a support crew member. This is a crew reward rather than another rescued pet for Goro Goro Kingdom. [ ] 17. The Miracle Aquarium Gaiden Requirements: finish #16. Start: return to Yasuda at the aquarium show in Anaconda Harbor Park. Take part in the ball-catching sequence, defeat the men who interfere, then handle the tiger fight that follows. Follow the on-screen prompts during the performance rather than treating the opening as a normal battle. Reward: Edmundo-kun joins as a support crew member. [ ] 18. Man of Bronze Start: the crowd watching a performer north of Worldwide Market Village. Then find Bronson’s living-statue act near the Aloha Street and Resort Boulevard intersection. After the tipping scene, find him in the men’s restroom at Aloha Seaside in Honu West Shopping Center. Return to his performance spot, beat the thugs, then visit the small Ayame Street park near the East Waikiki trolley stop during the day. Rewards: Chain Ring and Human Bronze Statue: Bronson as a crew member. The optional tip also changes an earlier gift: $1 gives Iced Tea, $100 gives Toughness ZZ, and declining gives neither. [ ] 19. I Want To Be Your Nadeshiko Start: Claire by a palm tree at the eastern end of Aloha Beach, after the early Honolulu introductions. Help her fight off the men, then meet her at Shinobi Sushi on Sakura Street. When asked about Japan’s highest mountain, answer Mt. Fuji. Continue to the nearby plaza behind the restaurant, then meet her at Anaconda Harbor Park for the final fight. Rewards: Hawaiian Silver Ring and Claire as a crew member. A wrong mountain answer prompts another try rather than ruining the recruitment. [ ] 20. Hironobu Shigeta, 65 Years Old Requirements: progress Chapter 2 through the Honolulu objective where you hear Naomi’s information. Start: Shigeta near Onaga Maritime Fare in Anaconda Harbor Park. Listen to his request and sail out. Prepare the Goromaru and boarding crew beforehand because the outing leads into a pirate battle and an onboard fight. Win the encounter to finish his story. Reward: $10,000. Shigeta does not become a permanent recruit from completing this quest. [ ] 21. Coffee & Comedy Start: Cafe Soramame, north of Anaconda Shopping Center on Anaconda Boulevard. Enter the cafe, then find Mameoka just east along the street. Return and talk to Sorata. Choose “Why the heck?” when prompted. Leave the area and come back for the next scenes, repeating the return visit until the story concludes. Rewards: Mameoka and Sorata both join the crew. If the next event hasn’t appeared, travel elsewhere and return instead of repeatedly talking to the same person without leaving. [ ] 22. The Captain’s Return Requirements: unlock the Chain Hook during Chapter 2. Start: the man in the bandana near Julie’s Gearworks on Resort Boulevard. Agree to collect five pieces of trash. Follow the blue markers west along Hula Avenue: four are at ground level, while the final piece requires the hook route onto the No Surf No Life roof. Return and defeat the two men who interrupt. Reward: Dread Pirate Hook joins the crew. Any separate chest found on the rooftop is exploration loot, not an extra substory reward. [ ] 23. Corpirate Compliance Requirements: reach the Chapter 2 stage after the Goromaru’s refit. Start: the argument outside Black Hibiscus on Downtown Street in Chinatown. Speak to Bryan inside, then meet White at the marina northeast of Dragon Kart. For the better ring, answer the training questions with: - “Mornin’, lads!” - “Knock twice.” - Splitting up the treasure equally. Finish by defeating the two troublemakers. Rewards: White and Bryan join regardless of your answers. At least two correct answers give the Voyage Ring; fewer give a Chain Ring. The dialogue changes the item reward, not whether those two recruits become available. CHAPTER 3 [ ] 24. When You Wish Upon Some Balls Start: Captain Beef’s Chapter 3 encounter near Revolve on Fuji Street. Collect all seven Golden Balls: five in Honolulu and two in Madlantis. One costs 3,333 Sicko Snap points; the other six are collected from their individual targets with the Chain Hook. Bring the full set to Shen at Shipper’s Wharf in Anaconda Harbor Park. Rewards: Shen joins, plus one wish reward: - Wealth: $10,000. - Immortality: 100 Staminan X. - Sexy panties: Shen’s panties, which can be sold for $15,000. - Asking for ordinary happiness sends you back to choose again. The sellable item gives the highest fixed cash value, but only after you sell it. [ ] 25. My Dream Minato Girl Start: the story event at the Anaconda Harbor Park bridge in Chapter 3. Wait for Masaru, deal with Kobayashi’s group, then go to Revolve and speak to Kei. Machiko-san asks for $10,000 to arrange the gathering. You can return with the money later, but payment is required to finish this substory and open the chain. Reward: access to the five individual Minato Girl stories, #26–30, and their eventual finale, #31. The women do not join your crew when you make this payment. [ ] 26. #MyNewFriend Requirements: finish #25. Start: Ena at the Crystal Aloha Resort pool. After the pool encounter, meet her at Ahi Poke Garden on Ayame Street and defeat the men bothering her. Follow the next lead to Polaris on Candle Street. Deal with the entry situation and win the fight inside. Reward: Ena’s contact and her completed invitation requirement for #31. There is no separate cash or equipment prize to collect here, and her crew recruitment comes with the finale. [ ] 27. Hello, World! Requirements: finish #25. Start: Misoshi at the ground-floor arcade in Anaconda Shopping Center. Win the opening fight, then join her stream at Revolve. The responses are timed. For the better reward, use the Captain Ma-z-ma introduction, “Very happy” after the combo, and “Frustration” after the ring-out. Take the final fighting-game legend response when it appears. Rewards: Misoshi’s contact and a ring. Getting at least two of the three graded reactions right earns the S Ring; the lower result gives a Double Silver Ring. Either result completes the substory and counts toward #31. Don’t let the response timer expire while choosing. [ ] 28. Can You Keep A Secret? Requirements: finish #25. Start: Kaho outside the hotel on Seaside Avenue, near Pigeon Family Market. Win the fight against her bodyguards. Meet her again by Hyper Ecstasy on Night Street, then defeat the men in the next confrontation. The conversation choices don’t prevent completion. Reward: Kaho’s contact and her invitation requirement for #31. Her crew recruitment happens at the end of the complete Minato Girl chain. [ ] 29. Truth Requirements: finish #25 and unlock Dragon Kart through #7. Start: Seiko on Kolonahe Street near Shark Teeth Souvenirs. Speak to her, go to Dragon Kart and take part in the race. Finishing the race is enough to move her story along; you don’t need to restart for first place. Continue through the drink afterward and defeat the men who interrupt. Reward: Seiko’s contact and her invitation requirement for #31. She doesn’t join the crew yet. [ ] 30. Lovely Traveler Requirements: finish #25 and bring $360. Start: Ai’s signing event on the second floor of Anaconda Shopping Center. Buy a $30 photobook twice, then the ten-book bundle for $300. That is 12 copies and $360 in total. Win the shopping-center fight, take Ai aboard, then complete the Rich Island visit and its pirate fight. Rewards: Ai’s contact, one personal photobook copy, and 11 usable gift copies. The gift books raise crew morale and experience. Majima keeps one for himself, so you cannot use all 12 as gifts. Ai’s recruitment waits until #31. [ ] 31. The One Requirements: finish all five individual stories, #26–30. Start: speak to Machiko-san at Revolve. Begin the gathering and follow the live-action sequences. When the story returns to the bar, speak to all five women, then continue into the finale. Your dialogue and final selection change parts of the scenes, but don’t restrict the final recruitment to one woman. Rewards: Ena, Misoshi, Kaho, Seiko, Ai and Machiko-san all join the crew. Finishing the complete Minato Girl storyline also earns the My Dream Minato Girl trophy or achievement. A PRACTICAL CLEARING ORDER Get the story introductions out of the way first. Street Surfer travel and the activity unlocks make the rest of Honolulu easier to cover. Next, combine the Harbor Park stories in one trip: Goro’s Heart, the aquarium pair, Dragon Kart’s introduction and any later Shigeta or compliance markers that have appeared. On the eastern side of town, start Jeff’s and Hauser’s food stories early, then leave their return visits between nearby errands. Prioritize #11 if you’re also collecting fortunes and treasure chests. Its Scope Ring makes that cleanup easier. Work on the three regular Sicko Snap courses while also banking the 3,333 points needed for the Golden Ball purchase. Keep Dragon Kart’s longer cup-and-duel chain for a dedicated session, then finish #8 and #9 together. Don’t confuse the tutorial clear with completing the whole activity. Once Chapter 3 opens the Minato Girl chain, set aside $10,000 for Machiko-san and another $360 for Ai’s books. Clear all five individual stories before returning for #31. Their contacts are progress markers for the finale, not five immediate crew rewards. Finally, check the substory log rather than relying only on an empty map. Revisit activity counters for follow-ups, return to food stalls after travelling away, and check daytime locations if a performer or tour event isn’t appearing.
