Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: SEGA Racing Classic 2, both versions
All right, there are two versions of this one in the arcade, and you need to finish the courses in both for the completion list. If you've already cleared one cabinet and the other challenge is still sitting there, that's probably why.
Where to go
Use Anaconda Arcade inside Anaconda Shopping Center in Honolulu. It's downstairs, behind the escalators toward the eastern side. Look at the cabinet title before starting: Battle on the Edge and Power Edition are separate entries.
Battle on the Edge has three courses. Power Edition has four. Finishing all the courses in each version awards 1,000 Reputation, so both challenges together give 2,000.
You're aiming to complete the races before time expires. The challenge doesn't ask for first place, a particular car, or a specific finishing position. A result well down the field can still be a successful finish.
The complete course checklist
Battle on the Edge:
• Beginner, Forest Dome: 8 laps around the short oval.
• Advanced, Joypolis Amusement Park: 4 laps.
• Expert, Virtua City: 2 laps.
Power Edition:
• Beginner: 8 laps around the revised oval.
• Advanced: 4 laps.
• Expert: 2 laps.
• Challenge: 1 long lap combining the Advanced, Expert, and Beginner sections, in that order.
That's seven course finishes across the two cabinets. Challenge is not another short oval just because the menu says one lap. It's the combined course, and running out of time is the part to watch.
Setting up a completion run
Choose Easy when the race gives you the option. Start with a car favoring handling and automatic transmission if you're mainly trying to finish. The faster, harder-to-control options and manual gears can be useful once you've learned the course, but they also give you more to manage.
The controls include steering, acceleration, braking, four manual gears, and changing the camera. Check the cabinet's control legend rather than carrying over the controls you were using for Dragon Kart.
Keep the same car and camera while practicing. Changing both after every failed race makes it harder to tell whether you've learned the corner or simply changed the handling again.
What changes between versions
Battle on the Edge's beginner oval has the forest-and-dome surroundings. Power Edition replaces that scenery with a more traditional open speedway setting while retaining the basic oval layout.
Power Edition also revises a difficult Advanced-course corner, adjusts handling and opponent behavior, adds the combined Challenge course, and includes the Hornet car. Expect some familiarity when switching cabinets, but don't assume every braking point will feel identical.
Getting through the longer tracks
For the oval, concentrate on coming out of each bend cleanly. Eight laps give you repeated chances to learn the same turns. A small mistake repeated on every lap adds up.
On Advanced and Expert, look ahead instead of correcting only after you've already reached the outside wall. Ease off or brake before the tight section, get the car pointed toward the exit, then accelerate out. If a corner keeps costing you time, make that your practice target on the next run.
Following another car can give you a drafting speed advantage, but leave yourself room to move out before hitting it. There's little benefit in gaining speed only to lose it in a collision.
For Challenge, practice Advanced and Expert individually first. Those are the first two sections of the combined route. You want to reach the final oval with time to spare, not spend the first half recovering from corners you haven't learned yet.
Don't treat another player's finishing position or remaining seconds as a required threshold. The useful test is whether you're reaching the next section with enough time and avoiding the mistakes from your previous attempt.
After each successful course, keep a note of which version you completed it in. Once all seven are done, check both challenge entries and save. There isn't a separate prize counter to clear here, so those two course-completion challenges are the main goal for this arcade stop.
