Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: Sicko Snap, Crystal Papillon, and the rewards
All right, Sicko Snap is worth doing fairly early in this one. You get crew members out of it, one of the Treasury treasures, and a ring that makes finding other collectibles a lot easier. There's also a fourth course with an actual boss encounter, so finishing the three trolley routes isn't the end of it.
This is the Pirate Yakuza version. The scores, prizes, and progression aren't the same as Infinite Wealth.
Getting it started
In Chapter 2, go to the Aloha Beach trolley stop on Aloha Street in eastern Honolulu. Call and board the trolley to start substory 10, Snap Those Sickos! Again! If it isn't available yet, continue the early Honolulu story and the introductory Photo Rally sequence before returning.
Finish the introduction, then speak with Kuroki at the stop to choose courses and exchange points. The introductory substory can finish without a passing score, so check your actual course clears afterward. You need successful clears of all three regular courses to open the follow-up.
The four courses
Waikiki Resort Line
• Clear score: 3,000.
• Film: 50 shots.
• Targets: 30.
Harbor Line
• Clear score: 6,000.
• Film: 75 shots.
• Targets: 40.
Night Square Line
• Clear score: 8,000.
• Film: 99 shots.
• Targets: 50.
Crystal Papillon Island
• Clear score: 10,000.
• Film: 99 shots for the course.
• Listed targets: 55. The boss encounter has its own capture requirement.
• Unlock: clear the three regular courses, speak to Kuroki for The Sicko Snap Saga, then select the island course.
Use the score shown during the ride to judge whether you're on track. You don't need to photograph every person perfectly to pass. You do need to finish with enough points, and running out of film ends the attempt.
How to get better pictures
On PlayStation, move the camera with the left stick, hold R2 to zoom, and press X to shoot. Keep the view wide while searching, then zoom when you've found somebody. Center the target before pressing the shutter.
Don't spend the whole ride zoomed in. That's how you get one nice photograph and miss three other people outside the frame. Once a regular target has counted, move on; repeatedly photographing that person doesn't keep adding points.
White targets stay in place. Check windows, roofs, signs, and other elevated spots as well as street level.
Blue targets pop out briefly from cover. Watch bushes, low walls, and gaps instead of looking only at open pavement.
Red targets move through the scene. Vehicles and boats are worth watching, and you want the camera ready before the target has nearly left the screen.
Gold targets have a timing bonus. Wait for the Ono Michio pose, with the arms making that angular N shape, then take the shot. Shooting immediately can cost you that bonus.
For a first attempt, concentrate on seeing the whole route and getting clean shots. On the retry, prepare for the turns and moving targets that caught you out. There is room for missed shots, but firing continuously at scenery will burn through that spare film quickly.
Crystal Papillon Island
After clearing the regular routes, return to Kuroki and accept the new substory. The island ride uses a boat and takes you through another photography course. Reach 10,000 points to get to the Crystal Papillon encounter.
Passing the score requirement alone doesn't finish the substory. You also have to empty his gauge before the encounter ends.
Aim at the crystal around his crotch when it is exposed. If his hands are covering it, a picture of him standing there isn't enough. Wait for the opening, keep the crystal centered, and take several photographs while the opening lasts. Unlike the ordinary targets, repeated successful photographs are exactly what this encounter wants.
Watch for him moving vertically on the UFO, appearing from behind cover, and crossing the screen. Keep your camera ready around those positions rather than following every movement after it has already happened. When he's exposed and you have the shot, keep shooting instead of immediately moving away to search for another target.
Once you've weakened him enough, you get a much easier opportunity to finish him off. Use that opening to empty the remaining gauge. A course result without the capture scene means you still have the boss part to finish.
The rewards for finishing the Saga
Kuroki joins your crew, and you receive the Scope Ring. Equip it to show nearby treasure chests and fortune slips on the minimap. It doesn't reveal everything across the entire full-screen map, and leaving it in your inventory won't help you while exploring.
Crystal Papillon also becomes available in the points exchange. Catching him unlocks the purchase; you still need to spend 22,000 points to recruit him.
Everything in the exchange
Treasure and quest item:
• Silver Treasure Chest: 29,000. Contains Ring of Flowers, Treasury entry 47.
• Golden Ball: 3,333. Appears after the Chapter 3 Golden Balls request starts.
Crew:
• Papillon Boy: 3,300.
• Patriarch Gondawara: 11,000.
• Crystal Papillon: 22,000, after the island storyline.
Scourge of the Night outfit pieces:
• Top: 3,500.
• Bottom: 3,500.
• Shoes: 2,000.
• Makeup: 2,000.
Music:
• BORDER BREAK soundtrack CDs 1, 2, 3, and 4: 300 each.
Items to sell:
• Bronze Plate: 260.
• Silver Plate: 2,600.
• Gold Plate: 13,000.
• Platinum Plate: 26,000.
• Swiss Watch: 52,000.
• Vintage Luxury Watch: 130,000.
All prices above are Snap Points. The treasure, crew, outfit pieces, and CDs are one-time purchases. Save your points for the things you actually need before turning them into pawn-shop items.
For planning, the treasure plus all three exchange recruits costs 65,300 points. Add the Golden Ball and that becomes 68,633. All four outfit pieces and CDs add another 12,200, for 80,833 points across that whole set of unique purchases.
Completion beyond the story
The photography challenges go through 50, 100, and 200 targets photographed. Course-clear challenges go through 1, 3, and 5 successful runs. Capturing Crystal Papillon has its own challenge too.
Those are cumulative totals. There aren't five separate standard routes hiding somewhere. Repeat a course you can clear reliably if you still need the fifth run or more photographs.
The practical order is to clear the three regular routes, finish the island boss, equip the Scope Ring, and buy the rewards you're collecting. Then use repeat runs to finish the remaining totals. You get the useful exploration reward sooner, and the extra points aren't being spent before you know what you need.
