Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: unlocking and beating the Amon Pirates All right, Amon is another one where unlocking the fight and actually winning it are two different projects. This time you have to deal with his ship, his crew, and then Taiyo Amon himself. Don't finish the boarding battle and assume you've done the whole thing. How to unlock it Go to the Pirates' Coliseum reception in Madlantis and clear every ordinary match across all four categories. That includes the Swashbuckler Showdowns tied to the Devil Flags captains. You need to finish the Devil Flags storyline through Captain Zeus, then complete those unlocked Coliseum fights too. Keep progressing the main story if a Tournament of Captains entry is still locked; one of its later fights is story-gated in Chapter 4. Raising Pirate Rank alone doesn't unlock everything. You don't need S-ranks everywhere, but you do need the wins. When the ordinary Coliseum list is cleared, watch the scene introducing the Amon challenge. The Ultimate Pirate Crew Showdown appears under Tournament of Captains. That's the ship and boarding portion. The one-on-one fight is offered afterward, separately through reception. Before entering Upgrade the Goromaru's durability and weapons, put your strongest suitable crew on the cannons, and improve your boarding squads. Having a strong character in the wrong assignment isn't the same as having a strong team. For support, Noah's healing is useful, and Okasana-chan helps reduce damage. Level the people you're actually bringing and restore their morale. A first mate who improves your repair allowance, such as Nishida, gives you more room during the naval battle. These are recommendations, not a required roster or a reason to buy DLC. Bring Majima's health and attack upgrades up before the duel. Stock healing and Heat recovery items as well. You can use inventory recovery in the one-on-one fight, and you get time to prepare between the crew victory and accepting that last challenge. The ship battle The Amon vessel has 10,000 health. It uses homing missiles, explosive barrels and mines, plus lasers and flamethrowers. The dangerous part is staying beside it taking repeated hits while trying to squeeze out one more broadside. Save boost for getting away from incoming missiles and dangerous patches of explosives. Watch where the ship drops mines before turning back toward it. If you're burning, deal with the status rather than continuing to trade damage as though nothing happened. Get your shots in, reposition, and repair before your remaining health becomes too small to survive the next volley. Since there is only one enemy vessel, keep it in view and pay attention to its attacks instead of circling blindly. The boarding battle Now you have 50 enemies to clear. Prioritize their leaders while your squads handle the crowd. Leaving the leaders active gives the enemy more chances to use its special attacks, including lightning and flaming boomerangs. Use your own support ability rather than saving it until everyone is down. Healing keeps the rest of your crew fighting, which is a lot better than trying to clean up the entire deck alone. If a leader isn't safely reachable, thin the nearby enemies first instead of charging through the whole group and losing Majima. Taiyo Amon's duel Once reception offers the individual challenge, take the preparation break. Heal, restock, check your rings, then return and accept. Early on, avoid throwing out long attacks while he's ready to counter. His hook can leave you stunned for a follow-up, and some attacks break your guard. Dodge, get around him, punish the opening, then reset instead of assuming you can hold block through everything. When he summons clones, clearing them becomes the priority. Switch to Sea Dog and use the violin's shark summon when your Madness gauge is ready to damage several together. Removing the extra attackers makes the rest of the fight much easier to read. Watch for the suspended blades that rain down afterward. Guard through that attack rather than trying to attack into it. Sea Dog's all-direction guard is useful here. The problem is the clones can interrupt your defense, which is why leaving them alive while chasing the real Amon is such a bad trade. Use recovery items before you're one hit from death. Spend Heat on attacks you can land safely, clear the clones, and return to dodging and punishing Amon's openings. You don't need to win a damage race against the entire screen. Finish the duel and collect the Champion's Ring from reception. It gradually builds Heat during combat. Defeating the Amon Pirates also earns Legend of the Coliseum. The crew win alone isn't the final completion check: make sure Taiyo's individual challenge is finished too.
