Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth: Ounabara Vocational School

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth: Ounabara Vocational School All right, this is one of those things that's worth doing even if you're not trying to finish every single thing in the game. Ounabara gives Ichiban a lot of Personality points, and those stats matter when you're trying to open up more of what he can do. But the exams cost money, so I want to cover what you're actually paying for instead of just telling you to go take some tests. GETTING STARTED The school is on Harbor Street in western Honolulu. You can get into this in Chapter 4 through Substory 21, Playing with Fire. Speak to Maeda at the reception desk. Hawaii Proficiency Tier 2 is your free introductory exam. There are 20 regular exams and one final exam. A regular exam gives you five questions drawn from that subject's pool of ten. You need three correct answers to pass. Most questions give you 30 seconds, so read the actual question before picking something that looks familiar. Some of these deliberately ask for the answer that is FALSE or the thing that DOESN'T belong. Failing means paying the entry fee again. Once you've passed a subject, you can retake it for free, but you don't keep collecting its Personality reward. This isn't an unlimited stat-farming trick. EVERY EXAM, ITS PRICE, AND ITS REWARD These are Personality points, not entire Personality levels. The money below is the exam fee in dollars. • Sports Proficiency: $300. Passion +30, Confidence +30. • Hawaii Proficiency Tier 2: free. Passion +30, Charisma +30. • Hawaii Proficiency Tier 1: $500. Passion +50, Charisma +50. • Marine Life: $500. Confidence +50, Kindness +50. • Alcohol Expertise: $500. Style +120. • World Landmarks: $300. Passion +30, Intellect +30. • Muscular Science: $500. Passion +60, Confidence +60. • Gardening Proficiency: $300. Kindness +30, Style +30. • Underworld Studies: $500. Confidence +120. • SEGA Proficiency Tier 2: $300. Confidence +30, Charisma +30. • SEGA Proficiency Tier 1: $500. Confidence +50, Charisma +50. • Honolulu City Proficiency: $500. Passion +60, Charisma +60. • Gem Proficiency: $500. Style +120. • Sujimon Mastery: $500. Kindness +60, Style +60. • Mathematics: $500. Intellect +120. • Outer Space: $500. Kindness +120. • World History: $500. Intellect +120. • Trivia King Tier 2: $300. Charisma +30, Kindness +30, Intellect +30. • Trivia King Tier 1: $500. Charisma +60, Kindness +60, Intellect +60. • Trivia King Special Tier: $1,000. Charisma +90, Kindness +90, Intellect +90. • Ounabara Proficiency: $1,000. Passion +100, Confidence +100, Style +100. Passing everything on your first attempt costs $10,000 in exam fees. Failed attempts and optional help cost extra. So if you're coming in with exactly $10,000, don't assume you have room to fail a few times. The combined first-clear rewards are Passion +360, Confidence +440, Charisma +400, Kindness +440, Intellect +450, and Style +430. That's why this is worth remembering when you're short of a Personality requirement elsewhere. WHAT I'D PRIORITIZE If you only need a particular stat, pick the exams that help with that instead of paying for whatever happens to be at the top of the list. For Style, Alcohol and Gem each give 120. For Intellect, Mathematics and World History each give 120. Underworld gives 120 Confidence. Outer Space gives 120 Kindness. Honolulu City and Muscular Science both help Passion while also raising another stat. The Trivia exams spread their rewards across Charisma, Kindness, and Intellect. If you're working toward certificates rather than one stat, do the free Hawaii exam first and then work through the subjects you know. Finish the lower tier before moving up a tiered subject. You don't need to tackle the hardest trivia first just because it's there. Ten passed certificates earn the 30 Mins or It's Free trophy/achievement. That's ten, not all 21. All 21 is for finishing the school and its related content. THE OPTIONAL HELP Ikari in the lobby offers two exam assists: • Hyper Focus costs $1,000 and adds 30 seconds to one question. You can activate it once during an exam. • Divine Pencil costs $5,000 and removes two wrong answers from one question. You can activate it once during an exam. Those are expensive compared with the individual tests. I'd have the answer reference ready before paying for help. They're options if you want them, but neither is required to pass. Don't build your whole plan around pausing the game to look things up. Have the reference open before starting, and identify the question by its wording rather than by the position of an answer on the screen. For picture questions, identify the object itself. An answer like “top right” isn't useful if you can't be sure you're looking at the same arrangement. THE FINAL EXAM Pass the first 20 exams to unlock Ounabara Proficiency. This one pulls five questions from the earlier subjects, and you need all five right. The normal three-out-of-five pass mark does not apply here. It costs $1,000 per paid attempt, so this is where rushing gets annoying. Keep the whole answer reference available, not just the final regular subject you finished. You could get a sports question followed by a SEGA question and then something completely different. There's no separate fixed five-answer final-exam list. LAURA MAEDA AND CERTIFIABLE LOVER Finishing the exams isn't the only thing attached to this place. Laura Maeda has Substory 47, Certifiable Lover. Complete all 21 exams, then continue her conversations and gift requests. If a conversation isn't available, keep developing Ichiban's Personality and return rather than assuming passing the last exam automatically finishes everything. The requested gifts are an ABC Store Gift Set, Hawaiian Cosmetics, and a Plumeria Bouquet. The ABC Store in Anaconda Shopping Center sells the gift set, Seaworthy Treasures sells the cosmetics, and Melia's Leis and Flowers sells the bouquet. Give her the requested items and follow the conversations through to the concluding scene. Laura also becomes available as a Dondoko Island guest. So for this one, the checklist is pretty simple: introductory exam, ten certificates for the trophy, all 20 regular exams if you're finishing the school, then the perfect-score final and Laura's remaining conversations. Don't confuse getting the trophy with being done with everything here.
