Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
All right, so after Infinite Wealth, the next one is Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. And yes, this is an actual continuation of the series. Majima becoming a pirate is something that happens in this universe. We’ve gone from the streets of Kamurocho to this man sailing around Hawaii with his own crew.
It takes place after Infinite Wealth, so that’s where I’d put it in the play order. I wouldn’t move it ahead just because it looks like a separate pirate adventure. The setting and some of the characters connect back to what happened there.
Majima washes up on Rich Island without his memories. Noah, a boy living there, helps him, and the story follows them into this whole mess involving pirates and treasure while Majima tries to figure out what happened to him. That gives this one a different starting point from the games where everyone already knows exactly who Majima is.
The fighting is back to real-time action. You have Mad Dog, with his knife, punches, kicks and aerial attacks, and Sea Dog, where he uses two cutlasses alongside a pistol, a chain hook and the ability to throw those swords. You can switch between the two. There’s also a Madness Gauge, which lets him bring out doppelgangers in Mad Dog or use the Dark Instruments in Sea Dog.
And then there’s the ship. The Goromaru has its own upgrades and crew, so there are two things to keep up with: what Majima can do himself and what everyone you bring with him can do. You fight ships with cannons, then board them and fight their crews. Some recruits are better for attacking, while others can help keep people alive. Just collecting names isn’t the whole job. You have to put them where they’re useful.
There’s still Honolulu to explore, substories to handle, karaoke, Dragon Kart and all that extra stuff. But the ocean, the islands and the Pirates’ Coliseum give this one a different set of things to work through.
So I’m going to cover this the same way as the others: the achievements, substories, the crew, ship upgrades, treasure, the Coliseum and the smaller activities that have their own requirements. The main thing is keeping the actual trophy requirements separate from doing absolutely everything, because those are two different goals.
