Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth: Kiryu's Bucket List and Life Links
Spoiler warning for the characters involved in Kiryu's side stories. I'm covering the requirements and the order here without retelling how every scene ends.
Kiryu's Bucket List opens in Chapter 8, and this is one of the parts of Infinite Wealth that needs a little explanation. Life Links, Memoirs, Unfinished Business, and Awakening all connect, but they're doing different things. If you're waiting for Date to call and nothing is happening, there's usually a requirement you haven't met yet.
HOW AWAKENING WORKS
Kiryu has three traits: Soul, Tech, and Body. Soul develops Brawler, Tech develops Rush, and Body develops Beast. Raising them improves his Dragon of Dojima abilities.
For a Life Link's overall Awakening requirement, all three traits have to reach the required level. If Soul and Tech are at 8 but Body is at 6, you haven't met an Awakening 8 requirement. Look at the lowest of the three before deciding the next event should be unlocked.
That matters because it's very easy to spend an evening raising the stat you already have plenty of while wondering why the story hasn't moved.
THE LIFE LINK ORDER
The eight episodes run in sequence:
1. Memories of Taichi. This is introduced during the Chapter 8 story.
2. Memories of Date. Awakening 3.
3. Memories of Stardust. Awakening 4.
4. Memories of the Hirose Family. Awakening 5.
5. Memories of Nakajima. Awakening 6.
6. Memories of Sayama. Awakening 7.
7. Memories of Akiyama. Awakening 8.
8. Memories of Haruka. Awakening 9.
Episodes two through six become available as the story allows from Chapter 10. The last two have additional Chapter 12 story progress behind them. Raising Awakening early doesn't bypass those chapter requirements, and you still need to finish the previous episode.
After the introduction, Date's calls lead you back to Harbor Light in Ijincho's Bar District. Use that event marker. Don't confuse Harbor Light with Survive, where you're doing the party's Drink Links.
Some episodes include battles. Bring a properly equipped party and recovery items rather than assuming you're only going to watch a conversation. The later fights are a noticeable step up from walking around collecting memories.
RAISING THE TRAITS WITHOUT RANDOM GRINDING
Start with Memoirs in both Ijincho and Kamurocho. Their map markers lead to memories, conversations, or longer events. Some appear later, and some are attached to other story content. You won't clear the entire list just by sweeping the map once in Chapter 8.
There are 90 Memoirs altogether. The trophy target is 70, but gathering more helps with Awakening, so stopping at the trophy can leave useful progress sitting right there.
Next, do the Part-Time Hero rescues around Japan. They're marked on the map and give you another source of Awakening progress while you're moving between other objectives.
Work through the Japan party's Drink Links too. Their dialogue choices can reward different traits. These are separate from Date's Life Links, but the points still help Kiryu reach the next requirement.
When one trait is lagging, open Unfinished Business and look for unfinished challenges that reward that specific trait. Restaurant orders, party conversations, battles, and other activities can fill the gap. Check what you've already completed before paying for or repeating something that won't give the challenge reward again.
Ordering the remaining dishes at restaurants is a useful cleanup option when you can afford it. You don't have to turn this into an endless fight grind if there are easy food or activity challenges still untouched.
IF THE NEXT EPISODE WON'T START
Check four things in this order: previous Life Link finished, required story section reached, every Awakening trait at the necessary level, and Date's current marker or call handled.
If the story is the blocker, go forward with the story. If one trait is the blocker, work on that trait. Don't keep circling the same bar hoping a requirement will disappear.
Finishing all eight Life Links earns Renewed Purpose. Getting one Awakening trait to level 10 is a separate trophy target. You don't need all three at 10 to finish the Life Link sequence, although further growth still improves Kiryu.
There's a lot of history tied into these scenes. If you've been following Kiryu through the earlier games, I would make room for this part instead of treating it as another batch of map icons to rush through.
