LIKE A DRAGON GAIDEN: ALL SEVEN GOLD BALLS
Gaiden has seven Gold Balls, and collecting them is more involved than the trophy description makes it sound. Gotta Catch Some Balls! unlocks after your first ball. The Akame request Gotta Catch 'em Balls! needs all seven and a final visit to the man who offers you a wish.
You can start collecting before you can finish the whole request. The final ball is tied to a Chapter 4 street job, so searching the same empty awning in Chapter 2 won't help.
Here are all seven, including the two that are easy to walk straight past at the Castle.
EBISU PAWN
Buy the Gold Ball from Ebisu Pawn Sotenbori for ¥77,777. This is the straightforward one. It sits in the shop inventory, so you don't need to search the building with Spider.
KISS SHOT BILLIARDS & BAR
Exchange 777 billiards points for the ball at Kiss Shot. Reserve those points before spending everything on the other prizes.
If you're also working on Surgical Precision, the Easy-to-Normal 1-Shot Challenge progression gives you a reason to spend time here already. Check your points after those clears instead of assuming you need a completely separate grind. Do the related street requests first if you want your challenge attempts to count toward them too.
AKAME'S SHOP
Expand the shop to Level 3 and buy the ball for 777 Akame Points. The investment sequence is ¥15,000 to open the shop, ¥80,000 for the next expansion, then ¥150,000 for the third level.
The relevant expansion is the one about having a little bit of everything. Network Level 3 by itself is not Shop Level 3. Raising the network won't automatically purchase those shop expansions for you.
THE SIGHTSEEING BOAT
Go to the Sotenbori river during daylight and watch the sightseeing boats. You're looking for the boat moving from west to east with a man posing at the front. Stand on one of the bridges and use Spider on the sparkle when the boat comes within reach.
If the boat you see has no man on the bow, wait for the next one. The boats alternate; an empty boat doesn't mean you have already collected the ball or broken the quest. If it is nighttime, return during the day rather than waiting beside an inactive river indefinitely.
You can also photograph the man for the separate Photograph the Boat Guy street job. Accept that job first, take the photo when he passes, and collect the ball with Spider. The photograph and the collectible are separate interactions.
THE CASTLE'S DANCERS
From the Casino entrance on Castle Central Street, look to the left toward the people moving around on the rotating platforms. Wait for the masked, muscular dancer with the sparkle to come close, then retrieve it with Spider.
It moves with him. Scanning the floor beneath the platform won't find it.
THE GIANT STATUE
You need Silver rank to access the Fighters' Lounge. Take the staircase from the lounge toward the lower entrance area and stop partway down. Look upward beneath the enormous oni statue and use Spider on the sparkle between its legs.
Yes, that is where they put it. If the marker seems to be above the stairs, keep looking up instead of trying to find another room behind the wall.
SOLVE THE MYSTERIOUS NOTE
This Stroll n' Patrol job appears in Chapter 4. Speak to the man sitting on the northern river footpath and accept the note.
Its clue leads to the turtle-pillared hotel in Shofukucho, southeast of Wild Jackson. Stand near the turtle pillars and look across the street to the building on the north side. The ball is on its awning. Pull it down with Spider.
This ball is tied to accepting that specific request. If you've already checked the spot and found nothing earlier in the game, that is why. Finish the street-job interaction as well as collecting the item.
RETURN TO AKAME AND CHOOSE THE REWARD
Once all seven are collected and the request is active, return to Akame. She directs you to Shen in the back alley near Fukuru. Speak to him to finish the request and choose your wish.
The choices have different practical rewards:
- Asking for your former peaceful life doesn't provide that outcome. He asks you to choose again.
- Endless riches gives ¥1 million.
- Eternal life gives a large stock of Nourishment of the Sea King, recovery items rather than literal immortality.
- Sexy panties gives Shen-san's Panties, which sell at Ebisu Pawn for ¥1.5 million.
For cash, the last option pays more after selling the item than the direct money wish. If you're preparing for a difficult fight and want recovery supplies, the eternal-life reward has a practical use too. I wouldn't describe either as mandatory for Amon; you can buy recovery items and earn money elsewhere.
Before leaving this off your list, check the full chain: seven balls in hand, the Akame request turned in, the final alley conversation completed, and any separate street jobs handed back to their requesters. Collecting the last ball isn't always the last conversation.
