Yakuza: Like a Dragon: all six romances and The Lone Survivor The romance substories overlap with several other completion goals, so it's worth planning them together. They use Ichiban's personality stats, party bonds, business management, the vocational school and job changes. There are six individual romances: Sumire, Saeko, Eri, Miyakoshi, Iroha and Ririka. Completing two is enough for Playing With Fire. Completing all six unlocks The Lone Survivor, which is a separate substory. If you want all 52 substories, you need the entire chain. This covers the original Yakuza: Like a Dragon. These aren't Infinite Wealth's relationship events. HOW THE GIFTS WORK The four non-party characters use three gift conversations. Their relevant personality stat needs to reach levels 4, 7 and 10. Give 1 gift at the first stage, 5 at the second, then 10 at the third. That's 16 of the correct gift in total, not 16 individual flowers picked from a garden. You can buy the finished bouquets and bonsai at Flowers 2 Go in Hamakita Park. If you grow the flowers instead, have Survive's bartender convert the materials into the required gifts. Giving the wrong item or carrying loose flowers doesn't complete a bouquet requirement. Talk to the woman, use her conversation or gift option, and complete each stage. If you've already maxed the relevant stat, you still need to give all three batches. Then meet the separate activity requirement below and return for the final event. SUMIRE: SOMETHING WORTH PROTECTING, SUBSTORY 14 Location: Romance Workshop. Personality: Passion 10. Gifts: 16 bonsai, given as 1, 5 and 10 at Passion levels 4, 7 and 10. Activity requirement: upgrade Romance Workshop's facility to level 4. The facility donations are ¥200,000, ¥2,000,000 and ¥20,000,000, or ¥22.2 million altogether. Buying weapons and paying for individual weapon upgrades do not replace those donations. After the gifts and facility upgrades are finished, leave and return to the workshop, then speak to Sumire for the event. You can combine this with Romancing the Forge instead of treating it as an unrelated shopping bill. SAEKO: GIRL OF MY DREAMS, SUBSTORY 47 Location: Survive Bar. Personality: Style 10. Relationship requirement: Saeko's bond at level 5, including the final Drink Link event. Gifts: none. Once both conditions are met, speak to Saeko at Survive and accept the drinking conversation. When asked, choose the option asking whether there is anyone she likes. Finish the scene for the substory. Do not confuse a full bond gauge with a completed bond storyline. If a lock remains on it, finish the corresponding Drink Link first. ERI: SHARED VISION, SUBSTORY 48 Start: the Ichiban Holdings office. Personality: Kindness 10. Relationship requirement: Eri's bond at level 5, earned by reaching company rank 1. Gifts: none. Talk to Eri at the office after meeting those requirements, accept the invitation, then go to Survive and speak to her there. The second location matters. Standing at the management desk repeatedly isn't the whole event. Eri's bond advances through the business storyline. You can't replace that requirement by taking her to restaurants until an ordinary Drink Link appears. MIYAKOSHI: CERTIFIED LOVER, SUBSTORY 49 Location: Ounabara Vocational School reception. Personality: Intellect 10. Gifts: 16 lily bouquets, in batches of 1, 5 and 10. Activity requirement: pass all 21 exams, including the final Ounabara Proficiency exam. The Certified Genius trophy only needs ten certificates, so that trophy appearing does not mean you're ready for Miyakoshi's final event. Clear the rest of the school, complete the gifts, then speak to her again for the romance scene. IROHA: PILLOW CHAT, SUBSTORY 50 Location: Survive Bar. Personality: Charisma 10. Gifts: 16 rose bouquets, in batches of 1, 5 and 10. Activity requirement: complete at least 16 Party Chats. Party Chats are the conversations prompted while walking around with your companions. Let them finish. Starting one and interrupting it with a battle or another interaction can prevent it from counting. Table Talks are the restaurant conversations, and Drink Links are the bond-story events. Don't assume sixteen of either one satisfies the Party Chat requirement. You can review completed Party Chats with Iroha's story-recollection option. Once the chats, Charisma and gifts are done, leave Survive and return, then speak to her for the final event. RIRIKA: THE REAL ME, SUBSTORY 51 Location: Hello Work. Personality: Confidence 10. Gifts: 16 pansy bouquets, in batches of 1, 5 and 10. Activity requirement: have Ichiban try all his non-DLC jobs. Select the jobs rather than merely unlocking them. Work through Freelancer, Hero, Bodyguard, Host, Breaker, Foreman, Musician, Chef, Enforcer and Fortuneteller. You don't need to grind them to a particular rank for this romance, and Devil Rocker isn't required. The job-change trophies are a useful progress check, but return to Ririka after meeting the full requirement and giving the gifts. Finish her conversation chain and follow the event outside when it begins. THE LONE SURVIVOR: SUBSTORY 52 After completing 14 and 47–51, return to Survive. The follow-up event resolves the six-romance chain. Finish it to clear the substory and receive a permanent Defense increase of 10 for Ichiban. If it doesn't appear, check the completed-substory list instead of assuming every gifted character is finished. One final romance conversation may still be waiting at the workshop, school, office, bar or Hello Work. The efficient approach is to work on personality and gifts while doing the larger activities, then finish the conversations afterward. Business rank 1, all exams and the workshop investment take much longer than the actual romance scenes. Those are the requirements to plan around.
