Like a Dragon Gaiden: Pocket Circuit builds through the Grand Masters Cup
Pocket Circuit opens at CourStar during Chapter 2. The main races unlock in sequence, and the parts shop expands as you win. You can finish the entire progression without chasing every Time Attack record.
I'd collect the High Torque Motor Mark II before starting seriously. Find locker key H5 on Yotsudera Kaikan's roof, near the blue table, then open its locker. The stairs beside Kiss Shot Billiards lead into that building. While on the roof, use Spider to collect the Super Balanced Frame from the building to the south. Buy Metal Frame Plus from Ebisu Pawn for ¥980. These three parts remove a lot of early frustration.
The other awkward early component is Super Slick Tires, obtained from locker E5. Most remaining components below come from CourStar's shop. Spend your points on the next build before buying cosmetic bodies and decals. Check the shop again after Rookie, Veteran and Official, which unlock important new tiers.
Read the builds in this order
Every line lists tires, frame, motor, gears and battery, followed by any extras. Leave unlisted extras unequipped. The exact part tier matters: Regular Gears and Regular Gears Plus are different selections.
These are documented winning loadouts, not a promise that a car can never derail. Watch the first attempt at normal speed. When the stability prompt appears, tap only until the car settles. Continuing to mash wastes the meter you may need on the next lap.
Introductory through Veteran
• Introductory Race: Slick Tires / Balanced Frame / High Torque Motor Mark II / Regular Gears / Regular Battery.
• Rookies Welcome Race: Keep the Introductory build. Neither opening race needs a boost.
• Rookie Race: Slim Tires Plus / Balanced Frame Plus / Speed Motor Plus / Balanced Gears Plus / High Capacity Battery. This is a 12-lap race, so keep the specified battery.
• Standard Race: Extra Spiked Tires / Extra Metal Frame / High Torque Motor Mark II / Extra Balanced Gears / High Capacity Battery.
• Pro-am Race: Extra Slick Tires / Metal Frame Plus / High Torque Motor Mark II / Regular Gears Plus / High Capacity Battery / Light Suspension. Boost as you enter the loop on your first pass through it.
• Veteran Race: Super Slick Tires / Super Balanced Frame / High Torque Motor Mark II / Extra Balanced Gears / High Capacity Battery / Light Suspension. Leave boost alone.
Expert through CourStar
• Expert Race: Super Soft Tires / Super Speed Frame / High Torque Motor Mark II / Godspeed Gears Plus / High Capacity Battery / Front Wing.
• Official Race: Super Spiked Tires / Super Speed Frame / High Torque Motor Mark II / Godspeed Gears Plus / High Capacity Battery / Front Wing.
• CourStar Race: Ultra Slim Tires / Ultra Metal Frame / Godspeed Motor / Godspeed Gears Plus / Regular Battery / Medium Suspension / Flat Wing. Do not boost. Pay attention to the opening jump before deciding the build needs changing.
Winning CourStar opens the Masters Circuit and awards Pocket Circuit Pro. That is different from winning the later Masters Cup. Left in the Dust only needs three Rival Match victories, so trophy hunters do not need to finish every cup below.
The cups and Ran's progression gate
• Invitational Cup: Ultra Slim Tires / Ultra Balanced Frame / Godspeed Motor / Super Boost Gears / Regular Battery / Heavy Suspension / Box Wing.
• Champions Cup: Super Soft Tires / Super Balanced Frame / Super Power Motor / Ultra Boost Gears / High Speed Battery / Heavy Suspension / Rainbow Wing.
• Expert Cup: Ultra Soft Tires / Ultra Metal Frame / Godspeed Motor / Ultra Boost Gears / Regular Battery / Heavy Suspension / Rainbow Wing.
After Expert Cup, beat Ran in a Rival Match to open the final three cups. Continuing to repeat Expert Cup will not bypass her challenge.
For Ran, use Ultra Slim Tires / Ultra Rocket Frame / Godspeed Motor Mark II / Ultra Regular Gears / Regular Battery / Light Suspension / Rainbow Wing. Save your boost for the final lap after the hills. Godspeed Motor Mark II comes from beating Momozo.
Momozo appears near the Turtle Hotel in central Shofukucho after you have beaten Toru and won CourStar. To find Toru, first beat Kazuko, then look on the riverside path southeast of Bishamon Bridge.
• Professional Cup: Ultra Low Profile Tires / Ultra Rocket Frame / Ultra Godspeed Motor / Ultra Boost Gears / High Capacity Battery / Heavy Suspension / Rainbow Wing.
• Masters Cup: Ultra Spiked Tires / Ultra Speed Frame / Ultra Godspeed Motor / Ultra Boost Gears / High Speed Battery / Heavy Suspension / Rainbow Wing.
• Grand Masters Cup: Ultra Low Profile Tires / Ultra Speed Frame / Ultra Godspeed Motor / Ultra Godspeed Gears / High Capacity Battery / Heavy Suspension / Rainbow Wing. Use your two boosts on the loop while occupying the green lane, rather than immediately after starting.
Rivals, the Manager and Time Attack
For three early rivals, find Kensuke outside CourStar, Kanami east of Osaka King and Yusuke in Yotsudera Kaikan's basement. Speak to them first, then select their challenge at CourStar. Many rivals share a normal race layout, but some have their own courses. Do not assume every rival uses the same track.
After Grand Masters, visit the back room for the Manager. Try Ultra Slim Tires / Ultra Metal Frame / Ultra Godspeed Motor / Ultra Godspeed Gears / High Capacity Battery / Heavy Suspension / Rainbow Wing.
Time Attack is solo racing against a target time. A normal-race win does not prove that setup can beat the gold target. Use Test Run to inspect where a car becomes unstable, then a real race or Time Attack when testing boost timing: Test Run does not let you use Boost or Focus.
If a setup repeatedly fails, change one part at a time. A slower motor or sturdier frame can help you finish; adding speed to a car that already leaves the track will not. Once a build works, save it before experimenting with the next course.
