If you're going for platinum or all the achievements in Like a Dragon Gaiden, the first thing to know is that this is a much smaller completion job than Yakuza 0 or 5. There are no permanently missable trophies, you can do everything on Beginner, and you do not need 100% of the Activity Log.
You also don't need a second Legend playthrough. The substantial work is Akame's network, building a proper Coliseum team, clearing the arena, and beating Amon. The remaining trophies ask you to sample the other activities rather than master every single one.
Here is how I'd work through it.
STORY AND EARLY PREPARATION
Finish the five chapters at whatever pace you want. Hidden Dragon, Castle on the Water, The Man Who Knew Too Much, The Laughing Man, and The Man Who Erased His Name are the chapter-completion trophies.
The final departure warning does not mean your unfinished substories disappear forever. Reload your completed save afterward to continue in Premium Adventure. Keep a separate manual save before starting the final sequence anyway, and stock up on recovery items before resting on the couch at Akame's hideout.
During Chapter 2, start doing the nearby Stroll n' Patrol jobs rather than walking past all of them. Money and Akame Points pay for your upgrades, and network progression opens the Castle's higher ranks. At Network Level 5, prioritize the investment that increases Akame Points earned. At Level 7, prioritize the investment that reduces the points needed for ability upgrades. Those purchases are more useful before you've already bought everything.
You don't have to make every possible decision efficiently to get the platinum. These are ways to reduce cleanup, not missables.
UPGRADES AND COMBAT
Fledgling Dragon, Respectable Dragon, Ferocious Dragon, and Legendary Dragon require 10, 20, 30, and 50 purchased abilities. The final threshold is fifty, not every ability. Keep developing health, attack, your preferred Heat options, and the gadgets beyond that if the arena is giving you trouble.
Always Prepared asks for ten different equipment items. Buy them, collect them, or open lockers. Repeated copies of the same piece aren't ten types.
Work these into ordinary fights as the gadgets become available:
- Like a Bee: activate Hornet 100 times. Individual drones count, so hold the summon input and let the drones come out when you have room.
- Like a Snake: activate Serpent 50 times during battle. Short bursts count; you don't have to run over fifty different enemies.
- Like a Spider: use Spider on enemies fifty times. Collecting something from a sign outside combat isn't the same action.
- Like a Firefly: detonate Firefly fifty times in combat.
- Extremely Heated: activate Extreme Heat thirty times.
- Untouchable: perform five Ultimate Counters against the charged special attacks enemies telegraph with an aura. Follow the dodge-and-counter prompt rather than treating an ordinary dodge as a counter.
Whip-Splash needs an enemy thrown into the river using Spider. Find a street fight beside the Sotenbori river, position yourself with your back toward the water near one of the short stairways, and pull a lighter enemy toward you. Let him travel past you instead of immediately punching him. Adjust your position if he lands on the walkway. Upgraded Spider makes it easier to pull several targets into the attempt.
AKAME'S NETWORK
Taking Requests, At Your Service, and Go-To Guy require five, ten, and fifteen completed requests. Neighborhood Watch, Neighborhood Defender, and Neighborhood Hero require ten, thirty, and fifty Stroll n' Patrol missions. Those are different counters. Fifty little street jobs do not replace fifteen requests accepted through Akame.
The full substory list also includes the Coliseum storyline and other automatically triggered entries. Don't confuse the number of items in that list with the request trophy counter.
Do the recruitment requests before committing to a long arena grind. Useful early chains include Recruit Homeless Yamanaka followed by The Cat-Lovin' Rapper, The Strongest Convenience Store Clerk followed by Save the Pro Wrestler, and Liberate the Hammer Man followed by The Struggling Host. Gold rank opens End the Destruction, which adds Kaito and Higashi.
Drinkin' and Linkin' is Akame's completed bond. The first drinking event follows Gold rank; the remaining events need Network Levels 13, 16, and 19. Talk to her when each is ready. Dialogue choices don't lock you out. Finish the fourth event and its fight.
Rising Superstar is separate: after the first drinking event, visit Bar New Momoko with Akame and perform Like a Butterfly. That is the duet, with Kiryu doing the interjections. Simply singing another song alone won't meet it.
CASTLE RANKS AND COLISEUM
Silver Tier comes through the story. Gold Tier requires Network Level 10 and three Silver-rank match victories, then reporting back to Akame. Platinum Tier requires Network Level 20 and three Gold-rank match victories, followed by the same check-in.
Rookie Fighter, Up-and-Coming Fighter, Favored Fighter, and Prizefighter are the fan milestones: 1,000, 3,000, 10,000, and 30,000. Fans build through successful arena matches. They are not the same thing as network levels.
Hell's Keeper, Hell's Patron, and Hell's Champion require every Silver-, Gold-, and Platinum-rank match cleared. An S rating is not required. You still need Bronze clears too, because they feed later unlocks and the final arena route. Check every match category, including Special Events. The two Try and Hit Me opponents have invitations and conversations outside the normal selection menu.
Welcome to the Family, Strength in Numbers, and They Can't Stop Us All require ten, twenty, and thirty Joryu Clan recruits. Requests, recruiters around the Castle, and fighters you can speak to after their arena appearances all contribute. DLC characters are not required.
To Train in Life, To Train in Death, and To Train Beyond require one, five, and ten fully bonded recruits. Fully bonded means Level 20 AND Bond Level 3. Meeting only one of those conditions isn't enough. Run repeatable team matches with the recruits you intend to keep, and use the experience and bond gifts from the Fighters' Lounge to bring late recruits up to speed.
Gold Tiger Festival 1 is useful while building the team. Later, Platinum Tiger Festival 4 gives a repeatable higher-rank fight without the giant enemies that slow other rounds down. Team matches build money, fans, recruit experience, and bond together.
The four King Dethroned trophies require Dan Brody, Kunimitsu Samejima, JUSTICE, and Kiyoshi Ugajin. JUSTICE's timed team fight is a common wall. If you keep timing out, improve the whole team's damage and levels instead of repeatedly trying to do all the work with Kiryu.
The World's Strongest requires the final Amon fight. The route is the Four Kings, Operation Family Welfare through Akame, the remaining Special Events and all other arena clears, then Path to the Strongest. Tetsu Amon is a team fight. Gai Amon afterward is a separate fight where recovery items can be used. Finish both. You don't need every unrelated Akame request or every Activity Log entry to unlock him.
COLLECTIBLES AND CLOTHING
Locked Up requires thirty lockers OPENED, not thirty keys left in your pocket. There are fifty keys across Sotenbori and the Castle. Buy and equip Contact Lenses from Mizorogi for ¥14,000, or collect the pair in locker D2, to mark nearby key locations on the map. High-up sparkles often need Spider.
Gotta Catch Some Balls! requires one Gold Ball. The associated request needs all seven, but the trophy itself doesn't. Do the full request if you want its rewards and substory completion.
Fashion Scrub, Fashionista, and Trendsetter require fifteen, thirty, and fifty outfit items obtained. Buy distinct items at the Boutique as higher ranks expand its stock. Check casual clothing and Coliseum options. Equipment you wear for combat stats is not automatically an outfit purchase, and the default clothing can make the Activity Log total look higher than the trophy's acquired-item count.
HOSTESSES AND POCKET CIRCUIT
Heavenly VIP means completing both Club Heavenly hostess tracks, Kei and Ayu. Castle VIP means completing Ai, Kaname, and Kokoro at Castle Cabaret. Each needs three hearts and the final interaction. Mini-more Perfume from Ebisu Pawn improves affection gain, and correct level-ending answers matter more than just buying another expensive drink.
Pocket Circuit Pro requires UNLOCKING the Masters Circuit. It does not require winning every later event. Left in the Dust needs three Rival Match victories. Rival Matches are the one-on-one races unlocked through people and related street jobs, not three ordinary championship races.
THE REMAINING MINIGAMES
Retro Gamer needs five different Master System games played at the Daidoji hideout, available from Chapter 3. Four are supplied from the start; acquire one more. Locker F1 is inside the same hideout and contains Alien Syndrome, making it a convenient fifth game.
Arcade Dweller needs all six arcade activities tried: UFO Catcher, Virtua Fighter 2.1, Sonic the Fighters, Fighting Vipers 2, Motor Raid, and Sega Racing Classic 2. You don't need their high-score targets for this trophy.
The Man Who Had Too Many Hobbies requires ten different minigames. The distinct arcade games help here, but don't count five Master System cartridges as five separate general minigame categories. Check the Activity Log if you're unsure what has registered.
Bullseye requires a darts win against an opponent. A 301 match is a straightforward option. Royal Gambler requires playing at both the Castle Casino and Castle Gambling Hall, not just visiting the buildings or using the Sotenbori gambling spot.
Surgical Precision requires the Normal 1-Shot Challenge at Kiss Shot. Clear Easy first to unlock it. Each difficulty has three trick shots, so this is not just sinking a ball during an ordinary game of pool. Wait for the related Stroll n' Patrol requests before doing those challenges if you want the same clears to complete the jobs too.
My final check would be: story finished, fifty abilities, the six combat counters plus the river throw, network request and street-job thresholds, Akame's bond and duet, all Castle ranks, all required arena matches, thirty recruits, ten fully developed recruits, four Kings, both Amon battles, thirty opened lockers, a Gold Ball, fifty outfit items, all five hostesses, the two Pocket Circuit requirements, and the remaining arcade and minigame trophies.
That is the platinum route. Full restaurant menus, every gambling target, every Pocket Circuit event, and the rest of the Activity Log are a separate completion project. Do them if that's the run you want, but don't let an older game's requirements convince you they're mandatory here.
