Yakuza 6 has ten collectible character photographs that let you take spirit photos around Kamurocho. Each character has four camera hotspots, making forty places to check if you want the whole collection of appearances.
This is optional sightseeing. There is no separate trophy or full-Awards requirement for photographing all forty spots. The pictures can contribute to the ordinary photo-taking counters, but collecting every spirit isn't a hidden condition for platinum or the War God Talisman.
The names below contain spoilers for earlier Yakuza games and an Ishin cameo. These are the characters included in Yakuza 6's photo feature, not a statement about where every character stands in the later games.
First, collect the corresponding photograph from a glowing pickup. Check the valuables section of your inventory if you're unsure whether you already have it. Until that photo is collected, visiting its camera spots won't activate the spirit.
At a hotspot, open the phone camera and move around slowly. A controller can give a slight vibration when you're in the correct area. Take the shot and inspect the saved image. The character appears in the photograph; you aren't looking for a normal NPC wandering around in front of Kiryu.
Selfie mode is useful because it makes the apparition easier to notice. On the standard PlayStation layout, D-pad Up opens the camera and Triangle switches to a selfie. Use the equivalent displayed camera controls on other platforms. You don't have to use a selfie if a normal shot is catching the hotspot properly.
The first location under each name below is a place to collect the photograph and take a shot. The other three are additional appearances for that character. If the pickup isn't there and you don't already own the photo, check that character's other listed spots too; alternate pickup locations are reported.
Yoshinobu Tokugawa
1. Go to the southern end of Tenkaichi Street, by its red entrance gate and the Showa Street crossing. Search the southwest end of the map for the photo, then take the first picture there.
2. Enter the Tenkaichi Street building containing Lullaby Mahjong. On the second floor, go into the club with numbered booths and take the shot near booth 1.
3. Stand around the center of Theater Square. This appearance is easy to dismiss because you only get the top of his head or topknot in the picture. Look closely before deciding it failed.
4. Visit the rooftop garden at Millennium Tower and check the northwest lawn-and-stair area.
Osamu Kashiwagi
1. Just inside the Tenkaichi Street entrance, find the information booth on the east side near the club sign for Becky. Walk through its hanging banners to collect the photo.
2. Visit the castle-styled building in Nakamichi Alley, east of the Nakamichi Club SEGA and north of Ebisu Pawn. Use the southern entrance area of Kamuro Castle.
3. Stand by the closed escalators in front of Millennium Tower, identifiable by their green coverings and caution tape.
4. Enter Kanrai and approach the table along the eastern wall.
Sohei Dojima
1. Go to the corner east of the Theater Square Club SEGA, by the old Dojima office and the ramen shop frontage on Theater Avenue near Shichifuku Street. Collect the photograph there.
2. Enter the abandoned convenience-store space in Nakamichi Alley. Check the interior southwest of the safe's position.
3. On Tenkaichi Street, head south from Wild Jackson and stand at the building entrance advertising Sexy Grace.
4. Walk south from Yoshida Batting Center, then east along the north sidewalk of Shichifuku Street. Stop in front of the small red awning.
Yoshitaka Mine
1. Find Smile Burger at the northwest side of Theater Square. The photo is just south of it, near the elevator doors.
2. Go down to Millennium Tower's basement. On the southern side, approach the three monitors and use the middle monitor's seating area.
3. Climb to the rooftop of the Lullaby Mahjong building on Tenkaichi Street. Cross to the adjacent rooftop and stand beside the blue bench.
4. Visit the parking area on East Shichifuku Street and stand in front of the white car on the right.
Yumi Sawamura
1. At the north side of Millennium Tower, collect the photo near the parking-garage exit marked OUT.
2. Inside New Serena, stand near the tables toward the western side rather than directly in front of the bar.
3. Go to Public Park 3 in Tenkaichi Alley, behind the Stardust area. Stand inside the swing-set enclosure.
4. Enter the toilets in Children's Park on West Shichifuku Street.
Shinji Tanaka
1. Enter MEB on Shichifuku Street and collect the photograph around the middle of the room.
2. On Pink Street, look for the old Club Asia entrance with the Kamurocho Asian Beauty Show signage. It is opposite an entrance into Nakamichi Alley.
3. Go to Shangri-La at the eastern end of Taihei Boulevard and stand by the main entrance with the columns.
4. Move east from that entrance to the roadway near the purple scooter, north of the pair of vending machines. This is a separate hotspot from the doorway.
Shintaro Kazama
1. From Bantam, cross toward the short steps to the northwest. Collect the photo beside that stair area.
2. Take a picture in front of Stardust on Tenkaichi Street.
3. Climb the exterior fire escape behind New Serena and take the shot at the top where the stairs reach the roof.
4. Go into the sewer and stand around the middle of its bridge.
Akira Nishikiyama
1. Enter Millennium Tower, descend to B1, and collect the photograph in the light-colored circular section at the middle of the floor.
2. In New Serena, stand directly in front of the bar counter. This is close to Yumi's area, but the two spots are separate.
3. Go into the alley behind Café Alps and check the square open area beside the stairs.
4. Go behind the Senryo Avenue building containing Nyan Nyan Café and Modern Mahjong. Use the southwest corner of the rear alley, where the tattoo parlor was in earlier games.
Lau Ka Long
1. Start in the center of Little Asia and follow its narrow southeastern alley to the dead end to find the photo.
2. Stand near Little Asia's southern gate, around the white truck.
3. Return to the central part of Little Asia and check around the restaurant and benches.
4. Find the spiral staircase south of Ikinari Steak. Go beneath it and stand by the Moto Boys sign.
Masaru Ihara
1. At the junction of North Senryo Avenue and East Shichifuku Street, check the southwest corner by the gray construction-site door for the photograph.
2. Behind New Serena, take a picture near the vending machines.
3. Check the blue-topped dumpster in the same back-alley area.
4. Move to the narrow stretch along the southern side of the New Serena building, near the green utility box. These three rear-alley spots are distinct, even though they are only a short walk apart.
For a sensible route, collect the ten photographs before doing a dedicated camera sweep. Start at the Tenkaichi gate for Tokugawa and Kashiwagi, go north through the Theater Square area for Dojima and Mine, then work east along Shichifuku for Yumi, Shinji, and Ihara. Pick up Kazama near Bantam, Nishikiyama in the tower basement, and Lau in Little Asia.
Then group the pictures by neighborhood. New Serena alone has multiple indoor, rear-alley, and rooftop spots. Millennium Tower has several different floors and entrances. Finish each cluster together instead of taking one character's complete route and crossing the city ten times.
If a shot doesn't work, check the photo is in your inventory, confirm the floor, and move a few steps within the named area. The New Serena bar, its western tables, and its outside alley are different triggers. Millennium Tower's basement center and its southern monitors are different triggers too. With controller vibration disabled or keyboard controls, use those landmarks and inspect several shots rather than relying on a missing rumble.
If a story objective temporarily blocks an interior, leave that spot for later or Premium Adventure. There is no reason to restart the game over this collection. Keep your own four-location checklist for each character and save any images you like. The reward here is finding the little details, including the strange half-visible ones that are easy to walk straight past.
