For Yakuza 6's substories, the first thing to clear up is timing. A story that hasn't appeared yet usually needs a chapter, a time of day, or another activity completed. It doesn't automatically mean you missed it permanently. Premium Adventure lets you finish the substories afterward.
There are 51 individual substories. Some are short street encounters. Others are the end of a hostess relationship, a baseball season, or a whole string of visits to Snack New Gaudi. This is why walking around looking for icons won't find everything.
I'm starting with Kamurocho. The numbers below are the game's substory numbers so you can compare them with the gaps in your Awards menu.
Chapter 1 opens the first group after you visit Sky Finance and the early street restrictions lift.
3. Haruka's Biggest Fan. Find the mother and daughter at Children's Park. Speak to the girl, ask the Don Quijote clerk about Haruka merchandise, then talk to the fan upstairs at Club SEGA in Theater Square. The song answer is “So Much More!” Buy Haruka's Bromide at Ebisu Pawn for ¥50,000 and bring it to the girl. Return after leaving the area to receive her drawing and actually finish the story. If somebody bought the photograph before you did, step outside the pawn shop, rescue its new owner from the mugging, and receive it that way.
5. I, Hiji. Speak to the phone salesman on Nakamichi Street near Café Alps and accept the app. Use it at Children's Park, leave the park, and defeat the drunk harassing the woman. Return to the salesman to close the story. The dialogue isn't a permanent failure trap.
21. Look What the Dragon Dragged In. Enter the Senryo Avenue building with Nyan Nyan Café and speak to the owner upstairs. This introduces the cat-rescue activity. You don't have to find all nineteen cats to complete this introductory substory. Street cats begin appearing after Troublr activates in Chapter 2.
22. The Temptation of Live Chat. Watch the couple arguing outside Wette Kitchen by the southwest side of Theater Square. Speak to the man, then enter the nearby internet café and speak to the attendant. Follow the introductory session.
23. We're Committed to Results. Join RIZAP in Theater Alley. Do a workout, eat after receiving the trainer's food advice, and report back to finish the challenge. The gym remains available afterward.
24. A Man Rises Up. After #23, defeat Sodachi outside the gym. Find him roaming Kamurocho for two more fights, marked through Troublr, then respond to his invitation for the last fight at Children's Park. The chain starts in Chapter 1 but its concluding invitation needs Chapter 6. If you're waiting early in the game, you haven't broken it. This chain is one of the two required for Amon.
The five Club Shine stories can also be worked on from the early Kamurocho visit. Request the same hostess regularly, raise her to Diamond rank, and finish the meeting she arranges outside the club. The hostess-request trophy is much easier than completing all five stories.
14. Face Your Fears. Raise Saki to Diamond, meet her at Millennium Tower, and deal with the bullies.
15. A Shady Business. Raise Hikaru to Diamond. Find her at Taihei Boulevard and Senryo Avenue, follow her south into the building, and defeat the men involved in the agency scheme.
16. Listen to Your Heart. Raise Sora to Diamond and meet her at Theater Square. Finish the conversation. There isn't a mandatory fight hidden behind a particular dialogue choice.
17. Caught in a Love Triangle. Raise Erina to Diamond, meet her at Theater Square, and defeat the stalker after the date.
18. Hostess with a Heart of Gold. Raise Riona to Diamond, meet her on northern Pink Street, and stop the man harassing a hostess.
The next group opens on the return to Kamurocho in Chapter 6, after the Stardust fight when you're free to explore.
1. The Kabedon Prince. Rescue the host in the small area north of Tenkaichi Alley. Meet him at Bantam, take part in the conversation and demonstration, then leave and win the second fight. The dialogue changes the scene, but you don't need a perfect answer sequence to clear it.
2. Hey, It's Me! Walk through Nakamichi Alley, south of the little lot near the safe, until the phone call arrives. Identify the caller as Taichi, then choose “This is probably a scam” and “This is definitely a scam!” Meet Ishigaki at Millennium Tower and win the fight. If it doesn't trigger during Chapter 6, try again in Chapter 7 while free-roaming.
6. Like, Comment, Subscribe. Meet the man with the selfie stick at Theater Square. Find him again at the batting center, then on Nakamichi Street near Smile Burger. Finally, look up at the man hanging out of the building on Tenkaichi Street. Use first-person view and the Look prompt before entering Lullaby Mahjong. Without that inspection, the next stage may not trigger. Go inside and settle the fight.
8. Baring Their Fangs. Trigger the television scene at the southern Tenkaichi gate, speak to the nearby man, and head to the batting center. Fight the yellow-tracksuit man and follow him through the chase until the conversation finishes.
9. A Rivalry Reborn. After #8, return to the Tenkaichi gate for the call. Go back to the batting center and defeat the group waiting there.
10. Swipe Right. This one needs nighttime. Go north from Theater Square's Club SEGA to the Beauty Relax Salon near Shichifuku Street for the first message. Follow the pictures to Nakamichi Street's Smile Burger, then the tiled frontage of Theater Square's Club SEGA, and finally New Serena's rooftop. Finish the conversation and fight. If Chapter 6's nighttime window passes, return during another night or change the time in the finale or Premium Adventure.
11. Favor for an Old Friend. Walk near the south side of East Shichifuku Parking Lot for the message supposedly from Date. Buy the ¥50,000 prepaid cards from the Tenkaichi Street Poppo. When asked for the numbers, choose “Ask why he wants them,” “Pry further,” and “Pry even further.” Meet the scammers on top of the Senryo Avenue building containing the cat café and defeat them.
12. The Legendary Paul Lim. At Bantam, defeat the easy darts opponent. Paul appears afterward and gives you Intermediate Darts.
13. Showdown with Paul Lim. Also defeat the medium and hard opponents at Theater Square's Club SEGA, then return to Bantam and approach the board. Play Paul. Winning is not required to complete this substory or receive his darts, although defeating him matters if you're doing the full darts Award list.
19. Step Up to the Plate. Complete #35 in the baseball chain, then play three Challenge Courses at the batting center during Chapter 6 or later. Courses played before this unlock window don't count toward the trigger. Accept Yoshida's test and hit five consecutive home runs. When he offers a reward, ask him to join the baseball team.
20. A Promise Between Men. With #35 complete, play three Home Run Courses in the same Chapter 6-or-later window. Accept Gori-san's challenge and hit at least seven home runs. He then joins the team. These are two different triggers: three Challenge Courses for Yoshida, three Home Run Courses for Gori-san.
Chapter 7 supplies the daytime needed for the last two street stories.
4. Runaway Robot. Walk along Suppon Street, speak to Fujita, and agree to find Soji. Follow the cleaning robot through town to the confrontation near Tenkaichi Alley and defend it from the thugs.
7. Follow That Drone! Listen to the two men near Fuji Soba on Nakamichi Street, then speak to the people the drone disturbed. Follow its blue marker through the city and into the Senryo Avenue building. Go to the fourth floor and defeat its operators. Don't stop at the entrance because you already visited that building for the cats.
The useful cleanup check is simple: look for an unfinished final conversation, check the clock, and check the prerequisite. Haruka's fan needs the return visit. The batting stories need the correct course type. Sodachi needs the later chapter. The hostesses need Diamond. Those details account for a lot of apparently missing stories.
