YAKUZA 5 REMASTERED: KAMIYAMA CRAFTING, MATERIALS AND MONEY The important distinction at Kamiyama Works is INVEST versus MATERIAL. Investing an item permanently unlocks a recipe but consumes that item. A material is carried in your inventory and consumed when you buy the finished product. Donating a rare item just because a recipe mentions it can leave you needing another copy. UNLOCK AND LOCATIONS During Kiryu's Part 1 Chapter 3, rescue Kamiyama at the exclamation mark north of the apartment. His Nagasugai shop is halfway down Chikuzengawa Street South in the southeast. Other shops can be visited before their arrival text adds the van icon: • Tsukimino: west side of Main Street, south side of the road. • Sotenbori: Shofukucho parking lot across from Komian. • Kineicho: parking lot in the block south of Kume Boulevard. • Kamurocho: off Park Alley, south of Kamurocho Hills. Haruka cannot use K-Works. SHOP INVESTMENT The money thresholds for successive level increases are: level 2 ¥5,000; 3 ¥10,000; 4 ¥15,000; 5 ¥20,000; 6 ¥30,000; 7 ¥50,000; 8 ¥100,000; 9 ¥120,000; 10 ¥150,000. Work from the shop's current investment display instead of treating the final figure as the entire campaign budget. Invest required unlock items first, then add money as needed. A RELIABLE COMPLETION WORKFLOW 1. Keep rare materials, equipment rewards and Shinada's Sturdy weapons in storage until you've checked their recipes. 2. Unlock the recipe by investing the required item once. 3. Buy or retrieve the base weapon, carrying it in personal inventory. 4. Buy the upgrade. Check the completion entry, then decide whether the result is needed for another recipe before selling or investing it. 5. Build chains from the bottom upward. A late upgrade may require a weapon you already made and then accidentally sold. 6. Use Completion Office replacements intelligently. Once one of its reward items is consumed, sold or discarded, another can be claimed. Only one copy can be out at a time across the cast; if a different character holds it, that can block the replacement. PRACTICAL CHAINS Police baton branch: Police Baton at shop level 8, ¥58,000 → invest Super Resilient Resin and use the baton to buy Kamiyama's Police Baton at level 9, ¥62,000 → invest Pearl and use that upgraded baton for Colorful Parasol at level 10, ¥100,000 → invest Sturdy Pole and consume the parasol for Extremely Sturdy Iron Pipe, ¥100,000. Knife branch: buy Nameless Short Sword → invest Chili Pepper and use it for Super Spicy Knife at level 6, ¥25,000 → Chinese Broadsword at level 7, ¥40,000 → Lotus Clan Broadsword at level 9, ¥60,000 → invest Dragon Scale and consume the Lotus blade for Divine Dragon Short Sword at level 10, ¥200,000. That dragon sword is needed by later recipes, so don't discard it. Katana branch: Nameless Katana → invest Cherry Tree Branch and make Sakura Storm at level 6, ¥23,000 → Photon Blade MG at level 7, ¥20,000 → invest Gravity Converter and make Photon Blade PG at level 8, ¥43,000 → invest Eye of the Dragon and make Dragon Slayer at level 10, ¥200,000. Pole branch: invest Gravity Converter to buy Photon Blade WG at level 9, ¥98,000 → invest Seal of the Dragon and consume it for Mighty Dragon Spear at level 10, ¥200,000. Bat branch: invest Block of Brass to buy Patriarch's Bat at level 9, ¥98,000 → invest Sacred Wood and use the bat for Golden Dragon Bat at level 10, ¥200,000. Hammer branch: invest Super Resilient Resin for Toy Hammer at level 7, ¥50,000; invest Maguro and use the toy hammer for Frozen Tuna at level 9, ¥53,000. Raging Dragon Hammer is a separate level-10 purchase unlocked by investing Dragon Tail, ¥220,000. Kali sticks branch: invest Large Blow-Up Doll for Cutie Girl Sticks at level 8, ¥65,000 → invest Dragon Talon and use those sticks for Twin Dragon Sticks at level 10, ¥180,000. Tonfa branch: Steel Tonfa at level 5, ¥27,000 → invest Kamaitachi Utility Knife and use the tonfa for Slashing Tonfa at level 8, ¥42,000 → invest Dragon Talon and use the slashing pair for Dragon Horn at level 10, ¥180,000. Other useful endpoints: Dragon Nunchaku needs a Seal of the Dragon investment, level 10 and ¥220,000. Dragon Grudge Gloves needs Dragon Fang invested, Konpeito carried as its material, level 10 and ¥200,000. Smoking Gun needs SSS Gunpowder invested, Zap Gun carried and ¥190,000 at level 10; Zap Gun itself is unlocked by Small Motor at level 7 and costs ¥80,000. Defensive chains: invest Durable Cloth and use Steel Shin Guards for High-Tech Shin Guards at level 8, ¥35,000, then consume those for High-Tech Arm Guards at level 9, ¥45,000. Invest Fitness Gear to buy Yakuza Training Gear at level 9, ¥20,000; invest Eye of the Dragon and consume that gear for Dragon Shirt at level 10, ¥150,000. Dragon's Binding needs Mystery Stone INVESTED and Bloody Binding carried as the material, ¥80,000 at level 10. SHINADA'S STURDY-WEAPON TRAP The names deliberately cross over. The investment is not necessarily the same weapon category as the output: • Sturdy Pole unlocks Extremely Sturdy Iron Pipe; material is Colorful Parasol. • Sturdy Katana unlocks Extremely Sturdy Knife; material is the Divine Dragon Short Sword. • Sturdy Knife unlocks Extremely Sturdy Katana; material is Dragon Slayer. • Sturdy Iron Pipe unlocks Extremely Sturdy Pole; material is Mighty Dragon Spear. All are level 10, ¥100,000 each. Keep these Sturdy rewards. Shinada receives the iron pipe through his story; the other Sturdy weapons come from his baseball side story. WHERE THE IMPORTANT MATERIALS COME FROM Side-story and training completion: • Dragon Scale: complete Taxi Driver. • Seal of the Dragon: complete Hunter and Killer. • Dragon Tail: complete The Cost of a Swing. • Eye of the Dragon: complete Tendo training. Collect these through the Completion Office, not by searching the ending scene for a dropped item. Substories and side activities: • Sacred Wood: Shinada's Saving Yourself. • Cherry Tree Branch: Shinada's Dirty Heart or Wanna Party?, also a blue Drawing Tickets prize. • Fitness Gear: Akiyama's Haggle Wars or Kamurocho locker B1. • High-Grade Platinum: Kiryu's A Knock on the Door or Shinada's A Precious Meal, also Coliseum exchange. • Block of Brass, Magnetized Metal, Bloody Binding: hunting rewards; Bloody Binding also has a Coliseum source. • Durable Cloth: garbage collection or Akiyama's Bad Boys. • Pearl: Drawing Tickets grand prize. • Mystery Liquid: IF8 repeat reward. • Small Motor: IF8 or blue Drawing Tickets reward. • Gravity Converter: IF8 or Sotenbori locker D2. Lockers worth preserving: • Sotenbori C2 Large Blow-Up Doll; C3 Squid; F5 Chunk of Wood (Ash); H3 Super Resilient Resin. • Kamurocho A2 SSS Gunpowder; B1 Fitness Gear. The blow-up doll also appears among white lottery rewards and resin among red rewards. Shop purchases: • Aji Spicy Roe 240g (Regular): Fukuya in Nagasugai, for Cod Roe Blackjack. • Aoyagi Sweet Rice Cake 5pcs: Dagaya in Kineicho, for Uirou Pole. • Battery: Don Quijote in Sotenbori/Kamurocho, for Stun Gun. • Chili Pepper: Don Quijote in Sotenbori/Kamurocho, also garbage collection. • Rubber Ball: Don Quijote in Sapporo, also garbage collection, for Slime Gun. • Lighter Oil: Sapporo Don Quijote, hunting contract reward or blue lottery prize, for Bottomless Lighter. • Kamaitachi Utility Knife: Ebisu Pawn in Tsukimino, Kineicho or Kamurocho, also baseball rewards. Fish: Squid is available through sea fishing as well as its locker. Marlin comes from Nagoya sea fishing or a red Drawing Tickets prize. Maguro means tuna and comes from Tokyo sea fishing. A fish needed as an INVESTMENT and a base weapon needed as a MATERIAL are different parts of the order. Coliseum exchange supplies Dragon Talon and Dragon Fang at 150,000 points each, Bloody Binding at 150,000, High-Grade Platinum and SSS Gunpowder at 100,000, and Mystery Stone at 200,000. Don't spend every point on recovery items before budgeting these. THE NINE MODIFIED DRAGON WEAPONS At shop level 10, invest the corresponding ordinary dragon weapon to unlock its Modified version. Each Modified weapon costs ¥800,000 and normally lists Mystery Stone as its material. The nine are Golden Dragon Bat, Divine Dragon Short Sword, Dragon Slayer, Mighty Dragon Spear, Raging Dragon Hammer, Twin Dragon Sticks, Dragon Horn, Dragon Nunchaku and Dragon Grudge Gloves. Budget ¥7.2 million for the nine Modified purchases alone, before base weapons and other upgrades. CyricZ documents a same-order material-consumption quirk: once all nine recipes are unlocked, one carried Mystery Stone can cover all nine if they are selected and bought in ONE order. Don't buy one, exit and expect the stone to remain. The guide also warns that multiple stones carried can all be consumed by that order. Save first, put spare stones in storage and verify the order before confirming. This is a documented quirk, not a requirement to gamble your only save on it. Dragon's Binding still needs its separately invested stone. MONEY PLAN Early on, use your protagonist's substantial side activities rather than selling irreplaceable-looking crafting pieces: taxi work for Kiryu, hunting for Saejima and baseball progression for Shinada. Save plates and saleable surplus for when cash is needed, but remember Tendo needs one Gold Plate. Late-game Deathmatch 100 can pay over ¥1 million for a successful clear. It requires Coliseum rank 20 or better and real combat preparation, so it is a funding route after training, not an early shortcut. Repeat with a character whose crowd control you can reliably use. Keep ¥5 million available for Hinata's final relationship event. That money only needs to be shown, not spent, so finish that event before pouring the same fortune into Modified weapons. Likewise, Honoka's event asks you to offer your money but does not actually take it. This is the route and bottleneck checklist, not a claim that every cheap shop entry is reproduced here. Use the in-game equipment completion list to buy remaining straightforward items and the linked recipe reference for their exact level, price and dependencies. The expensive mistakes are losing a prerequisite, confusing investment with material, and crafting piecemeal before the final budget is ready.
