YAKUZA 5 REMASTERED: SAEJIMA'S FULL HUNTING WALKTHROUGH Story missions, all 20 village contracts, the 12 Jizo statues, and the traps that waste time. Spoilers follow. PREPARATION THAT ACTUALLY MATTERS The first three hunting missions occur during Saejima's story introduction. You can then leave the village to continue the main plot; that does not mean hunting is complete. Until the bear encounters open the mountain up, follow the tutorials rather than trying to explore every path. Carry a Hut Repair Kit until you have repaired all four hunting huts. Huts restore health and ammunition, so they are the checkpoints for longer trips. Bring healing provisions for trips that carry you away from them. Stags can charge as well as bears. Do not sell everything automatically. Contracts often require items in your carried inventory, and the trader's special requests use direct hand-ins rather than the ordinary sell menu. Reserve three Marten Pelts, three Toxic Mushrooms, and the animal parts required below as their requests become available. The trader pays less than Ebisu Pawn, but the ¥1,000,000 supply contract counts sales to the trader specifically. STORY MISSION ROUTE 1. Introductory rescue trip. Follow the river uphill to Okudera and Baba. You finish with Simple Cold Wear and the Horizontal Double Rifle. 2. Hunter Lesson. Follow Okudera's shooting instruction and hunt deer. The required Deer Meat is set aside for Nishina automatically. Take a couple of deer if possible, rather than immediately leaving after the first. Reward: Ice Walk. 3. Creeping Terror. After meeting the trader, find the white trap-site lights. Set a Snare at the first one and the other three nearby. A set trap glows yellow; blue means a catch. Collect a rabbit to trigger Yama-oroshi. Fight until the scripted interruption involving Okudera. Rewards: Special Cold Wear and Snowman, reducing cold-related health loss. 4. White Darkness. Follow the footprints from the first clearing to Kihachi and speak to him. Back in the village, talk to him again for a free Leghold Trap. 5. The Third Man. Speak to the red-coated man near the village entrance, Narumi, then return to Okudera. The Vertical Double Rifle provided for this mission aims faster than your first gun. Visit the marked smashed boulder, then continue west to Narumi. Reward: Spotter. 6. Kill or Be Killed. Approach the trader to hear that Okudera has a fever. Return to the hut; Sakurai identifies bear bile as the remedy. Follow the early bear tracks to the marked central clearing. Crouch, aim, and shoot the bear. Collect its spoils. 7. Hubris. After the argument outside the lodge, collect all eight marked bait piles. An efficient sweep goes west, east, then west again. Bait does not occupy inventory slots. Expect bears near the start, in the southwestern hut clearing, and near the northwest bait. Once all bait is collected, visit Narumi's marker. After Yama-oroshi appears, escape down the mountain. Reward: Stealth. 8. Pride's Toll. Follow the blood trail from the large clearing into the northeastern ice cave. Find Narumi and escort him back. Walk at a pace he can follow and expect at least one bear on the return. Do not sprint off and abandon him. Reach the trailhead together. Reward: Vertical Double Special rifle. 9. Tag the Beast. Find Yama-oroshi at the marker and provoke him with shots. Dodge while waiting for him to rear up. Keep at least one round loaded for that opening, then land the transmitter shot while he is upright. Once tagged, escape. Reward: Deadeye. 10. Okudera's Escort. Lead Okudera through the successive markers to the canyon. This is a long escort, so use repaired huts to recover rather than trying to do the entire climb on dwindling health. 11. Snowmobile sequence. Speak to Sakurai after Okudera leaves without you. Follow on the snowmobile and concentrate on avoiding repeated crashes. 12. Principles. Bring recovery items. You start beyond the broken bridge; head north. Shoot Yama-oroshi in the head during the firearm phase. The encounter then becomes hand-to-hand combat. Use Saejima's Charging Finishes and heal as needed. Finishing grants Mastery and opens unrestricted mountain visits. Remastered also makes the Golden Rifle available after the finale; it kills animals in one shot. ALL 20 CONTRACTS Ask around the village between story missions. They do not all appear together, and several only appear after the hunting story ends. The five-contract trophy is not the same goal as clearing all 20. 1. Get Marten Pelts. The mustached man near the fishing spot needs THREE pelts. Catch martens using Cage Traps and hand him all three from your inventory. Reward: Deer Meat. 2. Supply the Trader. After his introduction, speak to the trader to accept the cumulative ¥1,000,000 sales request. Keep selling mountain goods to him until the total is met. Selling at Ebisu Pawn earns money but does not fulfill this particular objective. Rewards: Staminan Royale and Bloody Binding. 3. Pray to Jizo Statues. Speak to the trader a second time to hear about the statues. Pray at all 12; the route checklist is below. Reward: Cold Weather Rations. 4. Find the Time Capsule. Speak to the green-coated man with glasses near the trader. Search at the Ghost Pine on top of the small central hill within the large middle clearing. Return the capsule. Reward: Lighter Oil. 5. Get an Antler. Give an antler to the green-coated man by the fishing spot. Reward: cash. 6. Get Bear Meat. Hand Bear Meat to Kihachi near the trader. Reward: Toughness ZZ. 7. Get Rabbit Meat. Give Rabbit Meat to the pink-coated woman by the fishing spot. Reward: two Carrots. Return later and speak to her gray-coated mother-in-law for a Rescue Card. 8. Get Some Bear Fat. Another pink-coated woman at the fishing area wants Bear Fat. Reward: Block of Brass. 9. Get Toxic Shrooms. The time-capsule client returns and needs THREE Toxic Mushrooms. Check beside logs and in the northeastern ice cave. Keep three in your inventory and return them. Reward: Tauriner Maximum. 10. Hunt the Gold Stag. Available after Principles. Speak to the young red-coated man seeking help for his mother. Hunt the gold stag near the northernmost hut and return its meat. Speak to the client again later for a Goddess of Children Amulet. Its hide and antler remain yours to sell. 11. The Outsider. Speak to the woman in blue boots near the fishing spot. On the mountain, find her on the east side of the main central clearing. Her son is farther west, near the Jizo at the far end of that clearing. Escort him to her. This immediately ends the mountain trip, so plan any remaining harvesting accordingly. Reward: cash. 12. Hunter's Test. After the main missions, ask Okudera to “Demonstrate Rifle Skills.” Kill three deer with only four shells. The simplest approach is to shoot the first immediately as it clears the snowbank, before the second has spawned; repeat for the second, then take the third carefully. Waiting until several are visible risks scattering them all with one shot. Reward: Vertical Double Rifle (Extreme). 13. Trapper's Pride. Meet the self-proclaimed Trapmaster, then find him near the northernmost hunting hut. Talk to him TWICE to release him. Return to the village and meet Sakurai. Reward: Even Goro's Beads. 14. Chase the Snowman. The antler client returns to the fishing area with a yeti story. On the mountain, follow the tracks from the shattered-boulder area toward the northern hut. Meet the hunter there, then return to the village to finish. 15. Get a Bear Skin. The green-coated man with glasses near the fishing spot wants a Bear Skin. Reward: Magnetized Metal. 16–20. The trader's direct-delivery chain. These must be carried and handed over; don't sell them through the normal shop menu first. • Sell a Marten Pelt: available on the trader's third conversation. Bring one pelt from a Cage Trap for double price. • Sell a Fox Skin: next direct request. • Sell Deer Meat: next direct request. • Sell a Whole Deer: carry Meat, Antler, and Hide together. • Sell a Whole Bear: carry Meat, Hide, Fat, and Bile together. JIZO: 12-STATUE CHECKLIST The game does not mark which statues you have already prayed at, and you can pray repeatedly. Keep your own checklist. If you finish one short and cannot identify the omission, repeat the full circuit. 1. Southeast corner, just above the first trap site beside a rock. A Snare is here. 2. West of the little path leading up toward the first hunting hut. 3. Directly east of the first hunting hut. 4. Along the western part of the river. 5–7. Three statues within the large central clearing. The eastern statue has a Leghold Trap. Search the whole clearing and explicitly count three; the source groups these three rather than giving separate verbal coordinates. 8. West side of the southwestern clearing containing a hut. 9. Far western end of the large central clearing. 10. Inside the northeastern ice cave, north of the central hut. 11. Beside the northernmost hunting hut. 12. Just south of the bridge across the chasm. A Cage Trap is here. For the central group, the map on the source's Hunter and Killer page is the visual reference. Do not count the far-west statue twice as both one of the central three and number 9. TRAP-SITE SWEEP, IF YOU WANT ALL 36 RECORDED This is a separate map sweep, not a substitute for contracts: • 1 east of the river bend; 2 directly west near the river. • 3–4 flank the small southern path to the first hut. • 5 midway along the river-to-first-hut path. • 6 along the river around the bend's southernmost point. • 7–10 around the first hut's clearing. • 11–21 throughout the large central clearing. • 22–23 at that clearing's far western end. • 24–27 beside the western river stretch. • 28–32 in the southwestern hut clearing. • 33 in the northernmost hut clearing. • 34 south of the chasm bridge. • 35–36 in the far northern Yama-oroshi area, accessible after the story ends and the bridge is repaired. FINISH WITHOUT EXTRA GRIND Finish the story, then use the stronger equipment for remaining hunting and sales. Recheck villagers after every hand-in so the next contract appears. Keep direct-request items out of the sell pile. Repair all huts for convenient resupply. Verify all 20 contracts, not merely the five needed for Full-fledged Hunter. Yama-oroshi Defeated is the story-finale trophy, not proof that the contract list is finished. Source: CyricZ, Yakuza 5 Remastered, “Hunter and Killer” and “Trophies,” version 1.2.
