YAKUZA 5 REMASTERED: KIRYU'S COMPLETE TAXI DRIVER GUIDE This covers the actual jobs, race order, answer sequences, and useful upgrades. Story spoilers follow. START HERE Taxi Driver opens in Part 1, Chapter 2. The story introduces a driving fare, a conversation fare, and racing. By the evening, speak to Hirakawa at Nagasu Taxi's desk to choose work or customize the car. Races unlock sequentially. Taxi work offers a changing selection of three jobs of each type, so finish the available ones to expose the remainder. Collect wages separately at a convenience-store ATM. Do ordinary jobs first to earn Driver Levels and Taxi Points. Spend those points on performance before cosmetics. Racing difficulty comes down substantially with proper upgrades, but you still need to drive cleanly and save a turbo for the finish. PERFORMANCE: WHAT TO BUY AND WHEN Tune-ups are the first priority because they raise overall performance: • Driver Level 2: car Level 1 → 2 costs 500 TP. • Driver Level 4: 2 → 3 costs 4,000 TP. • Driver Level 10: 3 → 4 costs 5,000 TP. • Driver Level 14: 4 → 5 costs 6,000 TP. • Driver Level 18: 5 → MAX costs 7,000 TP. Other useful unlocks: • Level 6: Hyper Turbo, 3,500 TP. Builds boost faster, with a small top-speed penalty. • Level 7: Chassis B, 2,000 TP. Better acceleration and handling. • Level 11: Twin Turbo, 3,500 TP. Strong boost, harder handling. Don't buy it expecting it to be easier to control. • Level 12: Pure Sports tires, 2,000 TP. Improve all stats. • Level 15: Chassis C, 2,000 TP. More speed and turbo, less acceleration and handling. • Level 16: Semi Racing tires, 3,500 TP. A stronger all-round tire upgrade. These are available upgrades, not a claim that every race requires the most expensive part. Keep a controllable setup if you are bouncing off barriers. Wheels, colors, and decals do not replace tuning. In Remastered, the Haruka decal is Premium Adventure-only. Free Highway Drive lets you drive through rings for points and is useful if an upgrade is just out of reach. Free Nagasugai Drive does the same at street-driving pace. HOW TO PASS DRIVING FARES Use gentle acceleration and braking, signal before turns, make complete stops, obey red lights, stay in the proper lane, and answer the passenger's prompts. Safe driving and good service earn TP. Repositioning costs points. Horn use can encourage pedestrians to clear a crossing. A quick arrival helps, but reckless swerving and collisions can undo it. All nine driving jobs: 1. Childlike Curiosity, 3:00. Answer the child's questions carefully while maintaining safe driving. 2. A Jaunt in Nagasugai, 5:00. The generous timer is an opportunity to earn safe-driving bonuses, not a reason to speed. 3. Holding It In, 3:00. Keep moving efficiently; the pressure is the short time limit. 4. The Restless Rider, 3:30. Reassure the impatient passenger that you will get her there quickly. 5. A Lonesome Soul, 3:00. Be kind to the talkative man and humor his conversation. 6. The Queasy Man, 3:00. Smooth driving matters especially here. Avoid abrupt inputs. 7. Tail That Car, no ordinary timer. Keep a middle distance and watch the lead car's color indicator. Don't lose it just to preserve a perfect traffic record. Follow to eastern Chikuzengawa Street and stop behind it once the destination appears. This continues into a race and a fight against two men, so arrive with a capable car and enough health. 8. Ticking the Boxes, 5:00. The passenger is particular about service; use the generous time to obey the road rules. 9. An Urgent Fare, 2:00. The trip is short, but there is little spare time. Be decisive without unnecessary crashes or repositioning. The verified reference does not provide exact dialogue trees for these driving jobs. The full answer key below is for the separate conversation jobs. ALL 22 CONVERSATION JOBS: ANSWERS IN ORDER You do not steer during these. The quoted options are in-game selections, not a script to improvise. Tips listed are for the successful response route where the reference specifies one. • An Astute Woman: “Wake the Passenger and Ask” → “Talk About Sports” → “Go and Get Change.” Tip: ¥5,000. • Businessman in Distress: “Speak Up” → “I disagree” → “You should be honest with her.” ¥5,000. • Delinquent Double Duty: “Forbid Them From Smoking” → “Apologize Profusely.” A fight against both passengers happens regardless. • Door to the Future: “You must be really tired” → “If you want to do something else, then leave” → “Yeah, it's interesting.” ¥5,000. • Finding Happiness: “I was just thinking how lucky you both are” → “Yes, your girlfriend is cuter” → “I can't do that.” • Flight of Fancy: “You look and sound Japanese to me” → “What's a princess doing in Fukuoka?” → “Where is this Kingdom of Coutand?” Then stay ahead of the pursuers for 90 seconds. Upgrade before attempting this one. ¥30,000. • The Harrying Harpy: “I'm sorry, but that's not possible” → “Ask Her Preference” → “Calmly Persuade Her.” ¥5,000. • International Taxi: “Karashi Mentaiko” → “Very” → “A Phrase About Encounters.” ¥5,000. • Just Like TV: “No, I must have missed it.” → “Not a president, but I was a chairman” → “I'd prefer not to dwell on the past.” ¥5,000. • Leaving Town: “I see Hakata has a special place in your heart” → “You don't look too happy about it” → “There's still time to turn back and tell him.” ¥5,000. • Life Ain't Easy: “It's just as hard in every industry” → “I welcome any customer, even short fares” → “Couples making out in the back seat.” ¥5,000. • Looking For Stories: “A Freelance Writer” → “Your First Day on the Job” → “The taxi light also serves as a hazard light.” ¥5,000. • Looking Forward to Love: “I'll ask what her plans are first” → “I'll just point the rearview mirror at her.” ¥5,000. • Man and Woman: “A way of complimenting people” → “A kind of chanson” → “Apologize for lying to her.” ¥5,000. • The Masked Man: “Do you have a cold?” → “Misfortune can lead to new opportunities.” ¥5,000. • On the Other Side: “I'm sorry, but there are rules” → “I think fate plays a part of all encounters” → “Maybe some other time.” ¥5,000. • The Scent of Danger: “Are you two on a date?” → “Stay on Course.” Defeat the yakuza afterward. ¥10,000. • A Scheduled Meeting: this is a scam, resolved by fighting four men. ¥10,000. • Seduced by Beauty: “I'm sorry, but I can't do that.” → “Maybe I can cheer you up.” Expect a yakuza fight. ¥10,000. • Shady Man: “I'm very jealous!” → “What do you do for a living?” A pursuit battle follows. • Three Sheets to the Wind: “Tell a Bad Pun” → “You should give her a good scolding” → “Perhaps you see yourself that way.” ¥5,000. • Voice of the People: “I only moved here six months ago” → “You should be listening to them” → “I don't take tips like that.” ¥20,000. ALL NINE STORY RACES Major corners should be drifted. Hold the drift control through the turn and build blue sparks for the exit boost. Save turbo for the final straight whenever possible. Opponents can catch up sharply even after you have built a lead, so an early advantage is not a guaranteed win. A Heat Action can be used once per race. Take the prompted opportunity. The routes have different trigger points: before the final straight, the two-truck section on Intermediate, and a point on Advanced. Don't spend the entire race waiting for a second use after using your one action. Progress in this order: 1. Devil Killer's Duel! Two Beginner laps. 2. Searching for a Son. Two Beginner laps. Afterward Kiyotaka appears at the office with the Get to the Top! CD and access to four more music CDs for ¥2,500 each. Music is optional. 3. First of the Four Kings. Two laps, Beginner then Intermediate. Defeat Kawajiri after winning. 4. Racing Blood. Two Intermediate laps. 5. Data and Analysis. Two laps, Intermediate then Advanced. 6. A Veteran's Approach. Two laps, Intermediate then Advanced. 7. The Final Battle! Two laps, Intermediate then Advanced. Then defeat six Devil Killers. Despite the name, this is not the last race entry. 8. Anything for a Friend. Two Advanced laps. 9. Breaking the Sound Barrier. Three Advanced laps. Manage the longer race and keep a finishing boost available. Clearing the race sequence awards Sakura Storm and unlocks Free Race, including Furumichi as an additional opponent. Free races are useful for driver experience and TP; they are not extra story chapters. FINAL CHECK Check off nine driving jobs, 22 conversation jobs, and nine race missions rather than stopping at The Final Battle! Claim your ATM wages. Keep the free driving options available for TP if you still want cosmetics. No cosmetic purchase is a substitute for completing a missing mission. Source: CyricZ, Yakuza 5 Remastered, “Taxi Driver,” version 1.2. This is a simplified reference walkthrough, not a claim of personal play experience. TROPHY DISTINCTION: Veteran Driver needs ten taxi missions, while Devil Killers Defeated tracks the leader. For Dream Ride, reach Driver Level 25 and buy the Otaku decal for 9,000 TP. That cosmetic has a trophy purpose even though it does not improve racing performance.
