Yakuza 4 Remastered: Tanimura's substories Tanimura has sixteen substories. There are two important chains here: his investigation with Saki, and the Little Asia stories involving Zhao and Mei Hua. A few quests also depend on main-story progress inside a chapter, so having the right chapter number isn't always enough by itself. Chapter 1, after first visiting Little Asia 12. Gambler's Blues Find the arguing couple west of Homeland, near Little Asia's western exit. Speak to Zhao and head to Dragon Palace. After talking to the men outside, agree to collect three debts: • Akune is in the northwest Underground Parking Lot. Catch him in a chase. • Kamei is in the northeast Champion District. Defeat him. • Maria is in front of Millennium Tower near the manhole. Defeat her bodyguards. Return through the resulting scenes to finish. This opens Dragon Palace access for Tanimura and leads into several later substories. 1. Be My Boyfriend? After Gambler's Blues, return to Homeland and meet Fay. Agree to pose as her boyfriend, meet at Shellac and defeat her ex outside. On leaving the district, he comes back armed. Win that second fight, then leave the area and answer Fay's call. Go to Purple Moon, south of Beam on North Pink Street, and complete the chase. Don't stop after the first date scene; the substory continues through all three confrontations. 8. The Mixer Finish Gambler's Blues and wait until the main-story destination is the docks. Meet the two men near Nakamichi's Club SEGA and join them. For the best result, introduce yourself as Ryota, leave the decision to Yusuke, choose any answer for the next question, throw Yusuke a lifeline, recommend cocktails, and tell Yusuke to take care of her. The reward is ¥50,000. 16. Tanimura vs. Hostess Clubs After Gambler's Blues, meet Minamizawa outside MEB. Visit Himeka at Shine and Chihiro at Jewel at least once, then report what you learned at Cuez Bar. The Elise trainees aren't part of this investigation. Himeka: Chicken Basket; a harassing customer; she loves comedians. Chihiro: avoid strong drinks; Kabuki Theater club; she wants to become an actress. Perfect reports pay ¥30,000 each. Leave and return between reports if the next one isn't offered immediately. Chapter 2 and the investigation chain 3. Another Case Approach Homeland for Mei Hua's interruption. Rescue Zhao in the alley east of southern Senryo Avenue. Visit Naomi's Palace, find Saki north of Shine and win the chase. Follow her information, then go to the docks and defeat the traffickers to recover the passport. This is the first Saki investigation; later chapters won't finish it automatically for you. 4. Clues After Another Case, respond to the murder report near Mach Bowl. Speak to the officer, leave and answer Saki's call. Meet her at Shellac, investigate Nakamichi Alley behind Club SEGA, then return to Naomi with ¥50,000 for the information. Visit Cuez Bar and follow the lead to the Underground Mall lockers. Defeat the waiting group and return to the bartender to finish. 9. The Witness Find the man in red inside Kamuro Theater, down the eastern Theater Square steps. Take his description, then look for the suspect in Theater Square. The correct man wears black and has lighter-colored hair. Defeat him and his companions. The Blackjack Amulet reward is worth saving for casino cleanup. 7. Looking Down After The Witness, speak to the worried woman on the west side of Theater Square and escort her. Check the roof above Volcano, then move around to observe that location from the building to the south. Find the watcher and win the chase. The requirement is the viewing position across the street; repeatedly searching the first roof won't progress it. 10. Kamurocho Culture After The Mixer, help the foreign visitor just south of Park Alley and Kamiyama Works. After defeating the men, identify the places he describes: a shogi salon, then a hot spring. Complete the tour for ¥50,000. 11. Car Thieves Hear the discussion at Theater Square's northwest exit, leave and return near Children's Park. Walk toward the two suspicious men rather than running and scaring them away. Ask whether that is the key to the car, then win the fight. The Red Jewel reward is useful for roulette later. 14. Stolen Funds Finish Be My Boyfriend? and progress far enough in the story to have deposited the ¥100 million at Homeland. Approach a Little Asia boundary for Mei Hua's call, return to Homeland, then go to Public Park 3 and the backlot north of it. Defeat the group to recover the stolen money. 15. Voiceless Cries After Stolen Funds, speak to Zhao and Mei Hua at Homeland. Find and follow the three children around Little Asia: • The boy initially near the northeast entrance hides in the food stall east of Homeland. Look directly at him in first-person view. • The child near Nair's upstairs room hides beneath the western stairs. • The girl with the pink scarf in the southern passages moves to the catwalk above Homeland's entrance. The different floors and first-person inspection are what make this one easy to overcomplicate. Chapter 4, after meeting Akiyama 2. A Dangerous Game Finish Gambler's Blues first and make a separate save. Speak to the seated old man near the Dragon Palace casino bar and accept his challenge. This is a scripted in-game Russian-roulette scene. When prompted during the later rounds, select the fearless trigger option, then the impassive trigger option. Completing the sequence awards ¥3 million, making this a major contribution toward Walking Bank. Keep the save until you've confirmed the reward and completion. 5. Burning Bridges After Clues, go to the crossroads by Nakamichi Alley's Poppo and defeat the suited attackers. Meet Saki at Shellac, then consult Naomi. Follow Saki's call to the roof garden above Volcano; prioritize the grenade user in that fight. Finish at Suppon Street by defeating Tsugawa's group. 6. Successor Complete Burning Bridges, leave the Champion District and answer Naomi's call. Return to her, follow the plan to Pink Alley and defeat the waiting men. Continue to Millennium Tower, clear the bodyguards and win the chase. This closes the investigation and awards a Seal of the Dragon. 13. Letter to Mei Hua After Voiceless Cries, find Zhao outside Homeland. Follow the letter's lead to West Park, win the fight, then go to the northwest Hotel District. Rescue Zhao through the outside and inside battles to finish the family chain. For quick checking, the two long routes are: Another Case → Clues → Burning Bridges → Successor. Gambler's Blues → Be My Boyfriend? → Stolen Funds → Voiceless Cries → Letter to Mei Hua. A Dangerous Game branches off Gambler's Blues later. If you're one quest short, check the prerequisite, the current story objective and whether you need to leave an area to receive a call before assuming something is missing from your map.
