Yakuza 4 Remastered: what you can actually miss If you're coming into this worried about permanently losing half the side quests, the good news is that Yakuza 4 lets you return to its substories. The confusing part is that “not available right now” can look a lot like “gone forever,” especially during Akiyama's story. Here's what needs a save, what just needs a different time of day, and what you can safely leave until the finale. Fashionista really can be missed on a save Hostess Maker has three recruitable women. Once you've trained all three to number one, the management activity ends. Fashionista needs one of each of the 23 outfit types purchased before that happens. Accessories and alternate colors aren't the requirement. Keep a save before finishing your second trainee, then make sure you have every clothing type before finishing the third. If the wardrobe hasn't finished expanding, keep completing shifts while holding her ranking back. Don't just keep selecting the best training routine and assume everything will unlock before she graduates. If you finish all three without the trophy, use an earlier save or another playthrough. Premium Adventure preserves your finished Hostess Maker progress; it isn't a reset button. Indomitable is tied to an entire Normal run Finish Normal without accepting the option to lower the difficulty to Easy. Clearing Hard first does not award it. If you're aiming for every trophy, starting on Normal avoids discovering at the end that you still owe the game a full separate Normal run. Akiyama and Hana Several Akiyama substories need Hana at Sky Finance. The story takes her out of that position during Part 1 Chapter 4, which temporarily blocks those quests. This is why I would clear the available Sky Finance chains before pushing through that chapter if you want to keep everything moving naturally. The main chains are: • Layoff Already → The Apprentice → The Apprentice: Part 2 → A Wife's Concern → Tricks of the Trade. • How to Spend Money → The Fate of the 30 Million Yen → Lonely Hana-chan → Counterfeit Bills → Beware of Impostors. • Pimp My Otaku → Hostess Training. Those quests aren't permanently lost. When you're back in control of Akiyama during finale/Premium Adventure cleanup, use the reminisce option at Sky Finance to restore the earlier situation needed for Hana-related content. Return to the present when you're ready to continue the main story. Counterfeit Bills has another restriction: its dock fight needs nighttime. If you have followed all the clues but the last part won't start, check the time before deciding the quest broke. Character changes aren't deadlines After finishing someone's part, you move to the next protagonist. You won't be freely swapping between all four immediately. The finale is when the game brings them together and lets you do broader cleanup. Saejima's Green Shadow, Kiryu the Babysitter, Floriography and The Hills Have Noise are examples of content you shouldn't expect to clear during the characters' earliest free-roam chapters. Some quests are deliberately late. The Hills Have Noise also needs nighttime and the earlier Floriography chain completed. Use the correct character and map level Saejima has several quests inside the Theater Underground. A street map without a green question mark doesn't prove you've finished everything below it. Go downstairs and check the underground maps. Tanimura has access to Little Asia that the others don't share in the same way. Some locker keys inside it cannot be picked up on an Akiyama sweep. New Serena's interior key is also a later collection. Leave yourself a short list of these restrictions rather than repeatedly returning to a locked door. Taihei locker I1 contains Chunk of Wood (Ash), useful for Saejima's training. If you collect its key as Akiyama, Saejima won't have that key before their possessions are combined. Leaving it for him is convenient. If you've already taken it, you haven't ruined anything: Ash wood can also be earned at the batting center. Bad answers usually affect rewards, not completion A star means the best result; a checkmark means the substory was finished with a lesser outcome. Both count toward substory completion. Save before timed recruiting, batting challenges and expensive or unusual substory choices if you want the best reward, but don't restart ten hours of play just because a completed entry has a checkmark. Keep rare materials Don't sell every unfamiliar item to make inventory space. Store crafting ingredients, weapon designs, gambling cheat items and useful equipment. They're more valuable for specific jobs than their pawn-shop price suggests. In particular, save casino cheat items for Tanimura's casino requirement and keep the three Sacred Tree pieces for his late fights. The saves I'd actually keep • One rotating story save before each major chapter sequence. • One safe Hostess Maker save before the activity can end. • One before the finale's final departure, after equipping all four characters. • Your completed Normal clear data. • Your main Premium Adventure cleanup file. • A separate Hard/Legend progression file. New Game+ preserves your character development and most possessions, but starts the story and substories over. If you're carrying additional Premium Adventure progress into a new run, create updated clear data at New Serena first. Keep the old clear file until you've confirmed the new run has the equipment and abilities you expected. The short version is: protect Fashionista, don't downgrade your Normal run, and don't confuse temporary availability with permanent failure. Almost everything else is a matter of using the right character, time and prerequisite.
