Yakuza Kiwami: A Practical Route to 40 Different Heat Actions
All right, if your Heat Action total keeps going up but the number of different moves barely changes, this is the guide for you.
Kiwami wants you to use Heat Actions 300 times and perform 40 different types. Those are separate requirements. You can introduce half of Kamurocho to the same bicycle and still be nowhere near forty different moves.
The route below gives you forty named actions to check off. It uses Brawler, Rush, and Beast, so you do not have to finish the entire Dragon tree first. It also avoids relying on a one-time story fight or a particular boss reaching a healing phase.
These are not forty moves you must do in one battle. Spread them across ordinary encounters, check your Play Log, and skip the ones you have already registered. [Heat Action completion requirements](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/completion-list)
GET THE SETUP RIGHT
When I say “activate,” I mean press the Heavy Attack/Heat Action button while the Heat prompt is showing. Use the button assigned to that action on your platform. Holding a weapon and pressing Heavy Attack without the prompt can just produce an ordinary attack.
“Climax” means the red part of the Heat gauge. Having some blue Heat is not enough for a move that specifically needs Climax. Build Heat through combat or use a recovery drink that restores it. The game does not require you to charge the gauge manually for every attempt. [Heat and Climax basics](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/basic-combat)
Buy Essence of Face Twisting and Essence of Solid Counter in the Soul tree before attempting those two entries. Knockdown Grab in the Tech tree makes the stun setups easier: in Beast, grab a fallen enemy near the head to lift him into a stunned standing position. Grabbing near his feet does something different. [Ability unlocks](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/upgrading)
Use ordinary enemies for the grab and stun work. A boss who breaks every grab or powers through your attacks is a poor practice dummy. You also want enough room to move without another enemy constantly interrupting the setup.
Keep Kiryu above critical health unless a move specifically requires otherwise. Low-health variants can replace the action you were trying to perform.
For the first three groups below, stay in Brawler. Other styles can perform many shared actions, but their own moves can take priority. Brawler keeps these setups consistent.
EIGHT ACTIONS USING THE ENVIRONMENT
Put the weapon away for these. You need to grab the enemy, not hit him with whatever is in your hand.
• Essence of Wall Crush: grab from the front and bring the enemy against a wall.
• Essence of Back Crush: hold the enemy from behind and bring him against a wall.
• Essence of Head Crush: Front: front grab beside a waist-high surface, such as a flatbed truck.
• Essence of Head Crush: Back: rear grab beside that same kind of surface.
• Essence of Door Slamming: bring a grabbed enemy alongside a suitable black car's door.
• Essence of Back Breaking: bring a grabbed enemy beside a railing. Theater Square's bike racks are useful.
• Essence of Ass Crushing: use the end of a railing rather than its long side.
• Essence of Crash and Burn: bring a grabbed enemy beside a burning barrel. Public Park 3 at night is a useful place to try.
The side you grab from and the position beside the object matter. If you keep getting the wall action when you wanted a truck-bed action, change your position before spending more Heat. [Environmental action conditions](https://kouryakutsushin.com/ryu-kiwami/%E3%83%92%E3%83%BC%E3%83%88%E3%82%A2%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%B3)
You can switch a front grab to a rear grab by tapping Guard while holding the enemy. You do not have to circle behind somebody and hope he stays still every time. [Changing the grab position](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/cheats-data/heat-action.html)
SIX ACTIONS AGAINST FALLEN ENEMIES
Pay attention to whether the enemy is lying on his back or his stomach. “On the ground” is not a complete description for these.
• Essence of Finishing: Front: empty-handed, beside a face-up enemy.
• Essence of Finishing: Back: empty-handed, beside a face-down enemy.
• Essence of Stomp Finish: hold a small one-handed weapon, such as a traffic cone, beside a face-up enemy.
• Essence of Weapon Finish: hold that kind of weapon beside a face-down enemy.
• Essence of Weapon Stomp Finish: hold a lighter two-handed object, such as a beer crate, beside a fallen enemy.
• Essence of Pressure Finish '88: hold a large two-handed object, such as a bicycle, beside a fallen enemy.
That is fourteen actions across the first two groups. The ordinary empty-handed finish and the weapon-holding finish are different entries, even when the target is lying the same way. [Grounded-target and weapon conditions](https://kamigame.jp/ryugagotokukiwami/page/334878935110144022.html)
Set up near the object you intend to use. Knocking someone down across the road and then jogging off to find a crate gives him plenty of time to stand back up. If he is already on his feet, the same weapon may trigger a different action instead.
FIVE ACTIONS WITH STREET OBJECTS
Stay in Brawler, and use a standing target for this group.
• Essence of Pummeling: hold a small one-handed street object, such as a traffic cone.
• Essence of Obliteration: hold a lighter two-handed object, such as a beer crate, and move close.
• Essence of Uppercut Crushing: hold the same kind of object but stand a little farther away, around two metres, before activating.
• Essence of Shop Signs: hold a suitable freestanding shop sign.
• Essence of Heaviness: hold a large two-handed object, such as an intact bicycle.
The crate gives you two different standing-target actions, so do not throw it away as a useless duplicate. Close range and a little separation produce different setups. [Street-object actions](https://spwiki.net/ryukiwami/wikis/146.html)
A small object and a heavy object do not always produce the same move just because both came from the pavement. That is why changing weapons matters more than changing the person you are hitting.
NINE ACTIONS WITH EQUIPPED WEAPONS
Again, use Brawler and a standing target. Carry the correct weapon, then draw it in battle.
• Essence of Batting: equip a bat.
• Essence of Golf: equip a golf club, such as the Wooden Driver.
• Essence of Bowling: equip a bowling ball, such as the Master Ball.
• Essence of Stun Gun: equip a stun gun.
• Essence of the Umbrella: equip an umbrella.
• Essence of Pole Choke: equip a one-handed pipe or baton.
• Essence of Stabbing: equip a dagger and use open ground.
• Essence of Stabbing: Wall: equip a dagger beside a wall.
• Essence of Stabbing: Table: equip a dagger beside a waist-high surface, such as a car bonnet.
One dagger covers three entries. Move away from the wall or car before attempting the plain version, or the environment can give you the wrong animation. [Equipped-weapon action conditions](https://darage.com/guide/ryukiwami1/k10.html)
You do not need expensive versions of these weapons. The action is tied to the weapon type, not how much money you spent on it.
Ebisu Pawn sells the Wooden Driver. The West Park weapon seller has the Master Ball and Iron Pipe. Don Quijote sells an umbrella, and Beam sells daggers. [Weapon shops and stock](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/equipment-shops)
The lockers supply three other useful pieces: B2 has Brass Knuckles, H1 has a Stun Gun, and J1 has a Metal Bat. Check storage before buying replacements. [Locker rewards](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/locker-keys)
Those four groups give you twenty-eight different actions without touching the style-specific section below.
FOUR BRAWLER ACTIONS
Put away the weapon again.
• Essence of Brawler: with Climax Heat, grab an enemy and activate on open ground, away from objects that could supply another action.
• Essence of Double Head Crush: with Climax Heat, hold one enemy and move close to another standing enemy.
• Essence of Face Twisting: with Climax Heat and the ability learned, activate directly in front of an enemy who is guarding.
• Essence of Solid Counter: after being knocked down, activate as Kiryu gets back to his feet near an enemy. Learn the ability first. This one does not require Climax Heat.
Face Twisting needs a guarding target, not a grab. Solid Counter needs the recovery animation, not a standing Kiryu. [Brawler action conditions](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/heat-actions)
TWO RUSH ACTIONS
• Essence of the Flying Fist: reach Climax Heat, stun an enemy, and activate in front of him while empty-handed.
• Essence of the Iron Fist: equip knuckles, face a standing enemy, hold Fighting Stance, and activate. Ordinary Heat is enough.
The Flying Fist needs a stunned enemy, not merely one who has staggered from a punch. You can stun him in another style and switch to Rush. You can also use Rush's punches, but stop attacking once the stun has happened rather than immediately knocking him out of that state. [Rush's stun mechanics](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/cheats-data/battle-style.html) [Knuckle-action input](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/cheats-data/heat-action.html)
Knuckles are the important distinction for Iron Fist. An empty-handed Rush attack is not the same entry.
SIX BEAST ACTIONS
Use Climax Heat for the first five. Keep the last hammer action away from a wall so a different weapon action does not take over.
• Essence of Piledriver: hold an enemy from the front on open ground.
• Essence of Knee Slam: hold an enemy from behind on open ground.
• Essence of Post Slam: bring a grabbed enemy beside a pole or streetlight.
• Essence of Knockout: Front: stand in front of a stunned enemy without grabbing him.
• Essence of Knockout: Back: stand behind a stunned enemy without grabbing him.
• Essence of Iron Bash: equip a hammer and activate near a standing enemy. This one only needs ordinary Heat.
For the two Knockout actions, Knockdown Grab helps create the stun: lift a fallen enemy by the head, then position Kiryu in front or behind before activating. Do not confuse these with Piledriver and Knee Slam, which begin while you are holding the enemy. [Beast action conditions](https://appmedia.jp/ryugagotoku_kiwami/78197297) [Stun setup](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/cheats-data/heat-action.html)
The Iron Hammer costs 30 tags at the Gambling Hall, so you do not need one of the expensive hammers for Iron Bash. [Gambling Hall prizes](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/gambling-games)
That brings the main checklist to forty.
IF ONE PARTICULAR ACTION WON'T COOPERATE
You have other choices. Forty is the target, not an instruction to force these exact forty no matter how awkward one setup becomes.
Essence of Force Feeding is an easy substitute: carry a Mandarin Orange from M Store in your inventory and activate near a standing enemy in Brawler. Do not eat the orange beforehand. Essence of Eye Salting is another: equip Table Salt and activate near a standing enemy. Don Quijote sells the salt. [Alternative item-based Heat Actions](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/heat-actions)
The Coliseum's Street Fight GP is useful if you cannot find a particular street object. It contains a wide selection of objects for Heat Actions, including the more unusual small items. Use the arena as another option rather than insisting every action happen on the same stretch of pavement. [Street Fight GP](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/coliseum)
When a move fails, check the actual condition:
• Is Kiryu in the right style?
• Is there enough Heat, including Climax when needed?
• Is the ability unlocked?
• Is the weapon drawn, not just sitting in inventory?
• Is the enemy standing, stunned, face-up, or face-down as required?
• Is a nearby wall, another enemy, or a low-health variant producing a different action?
Change the thing that is wrong rather than drinking another Staminan and repeating the same setup.
Most importantly, look at the Play Log after a few attempts. Once a move is registered, it is done. If you already performed one of the boss finishers, Dragon moves, or unusual weapon actions earlier, those can reduce how much of this checklist you still need.
You are trying to reach forty different entries, not prove that every enemy in Kamurocho can survive the whole list.
