The gambling games in Yakuza Kiwami 2 have two different jobs attached to them. There's the Completion List, where you can build up winnings over time, and then there are Haruka's requests, where she wants a particular result from the game you're playing with her.
That distinction matters most in poker. Winning a thousand chips across several visits isn't the same as leaving one session a thousand chips ahead.
Here's how to get through poker, blackjack, koi-koi, and oicho-kabu, including the rules, useful settings, cheat items, and the things that can waste an otherwise good attempt.
**Where to play**
In Sotenbori, Yotsudera Kaikan is in southwestern Shofukucho. The casino is in the basement. The Japanese gambling hall is on the first floor, reached along the northern corridor.
Kamurocho's Dragon Palace has the casino on the second floor and the gambling hall on the third. Finish To the Dragon Palace, substory 22, to open it. Purgatory has another casino as the story progresses. [Casino locations](https://darage.com/guide/ryukiwami2/mini07.html) | [Dragon Palace access](https://neoseeker.com/yakuza-kiwami-2/walkthrough/Substories16-30)
Buy the correct currency from the attendant. Poker and blackjack use casino chips. Koi-koi and oicho-kabu use wooden tags. Both cost ¥100 each, but buying them doesn't count as earning them through play. [Gambling currencies](https://darage.com/guide/ryukiwami2/mini10.html)
**The targets**
For ordinary completion:
- Poker: earn 1,000 chips.
- Blackjack: earn 1,000 chips.
- Koi-koi: earn 1,000 tags.
- Oicho-kabu: earn 1,000 tags.
For Haruka's active requests:
- Poker at Purgatory: finish one session at least 1,000 chips ahead.
- Blackjack at Purgatory: finish one session at least 800 chips ahead.
- Koi-koi at Dragon Palace: earn over 500 in one game.
- Oicho-kabu at Dragon Palace: earn over 300 before ending the session.
[Completion targets](https://neoseeker.com/yakuza-kiwami-2/walkthrough/CompletionList) | [Haruka's separate requests](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/218734-yakuza-kiwami-2/faqs/76366/harukas-requests)
Save before using rare cheats. When a normal completion session goes well, leave through the game menu and check the counter. For Haruka, stay seated until the whole requested profit is there.
**Poker: understand what belongs to everybody**
This is Texas Hold'em. You have two private cards, and the table gradually reveals five shared cards: the three-card flop, then the turn, then the river. Build the best five-card hand from what's available.
You can use both private cards, one, or neither. The five shared cards can sometimes make the best hand for everybody.
Check passes when you don't owe a bet. Call matches the outstanding bet. Raise increases it. Fold abandons the hand and whatever you already put in. The blinds are mandatory bets that rotate around the table. [Poker rules](https://darage.com/guide/ryukiwami2/mini07.html)
From strongest to weakest, the hands are:
Royal flush, straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, one pair, high card.
A flush is five cards of one suit. A straight is five consecutive ranks. A full house is a triplet and a pair. When both players have the same category, the ranks and remaining kickers decide it. Identical best five-card hands split the pot. [Hand ranking](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2407247194)
The board looking impressive isn't enough. If four hearts are showing and you have a low heart, somebody can still have a higher flush. If the board itself makes a straight, your two unrelated cards don't give you an exclusive claim to it.
**A practical poker approach**
Fold weak hands when somebody is making you pay heavily to continue. Take a free check when it helps. Raise a good hand when there are opponents willing to contribute, but keep looking at what the shared cards allow them to have.
Don't keep calling because you already paid a blind. That money is gone from your stack whether you make the next bad call or not. Decide whether the next bet is worth paying.
The Royal Joker Card helps the next community-card reveal. It doesn't make the other players call your raises. I'd save it for a promising hand after the flop, before the turn or river, when one useful card can complete something strong and there's a pot worth winning. Using it before the flop can improve the shared board for everybody. [Royal Joker behavior](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/218734-yakuza-kiwami-2/faqs/76366/casino-poker)
A cheat-assisted good hand can still win a small pot. Don't assume one card means one thousand chips, and don't burn another card immediately just because everybody folded.
**Haruka's poker request: do the subtraction**
Write down your balance before sitting down. Add 1,000. That is your target balance when you leave.
If you start at 2,500, leave at 3,500 or more. If you lose 200 and later win 1,000, you're only 800 ahead. The total number of chips you own isn't the profit from the session.
Do not leave after each winning hand while doing this request. Those separate seated sessions don't combine into the requested net result. [Single-session requirement](https://playstationtrophies.org/forum/topic/303626-warning-harukas-request-poker/)
If a cheat-assisted attempt goes badly, reload the save from before the session. If it succeeds, save the successful result before doing anything else risky. Reloading an old save restores the old inventory and also removes the progress you just made.
**Blackjack: you're playing the dealer**
Number cards use their printed values. Face cards are ten. An ace can be one or eleven. Hit draws another card; Stand ends your draws. Going over twenty-one busts immediately.
A starting ace and a ten-value card is a natural blackjack. Reaching twenty-one with three or more cards isn't the same thing. Ordinary wins profit one wager; natural blackjack profits one and a half. A tie pushes. The dealer draws through sixteen and stands from seventeen. [Blackjack rules](https://darage.com/guide/ryukiwami2/mini08.html)
The other players' hands don't have to be beaten. You can win while somebody else at the table also wins.
Double Down doubles the wager and gives you one final card. Split separates an eligible pair into two funded hands. Surrender returns half the wager. Insurance is a side bet against the dealer having blackjack, not protection against any possible loss. [Table actions](https://yakuza.fandom.com/wiki/Blackjack)
A soft hand has an ace that can still count as eleven. A hard hand doesn't. That makes a soft total more flexible when drawing, because the ace can drop to one instead of forcing a bust.
For a simple starting approach, don't hit a hard seventeen or higher, and don't treat insurance as something you need to buy every time it appears. Pay attention to the dealer's visible card before deciding to chase a higher total.
**The blackjack cheats aren't interchangeable**
A Blackjack Amulet gives five blackjack hands. A Bust Amulet lasts seven hands, but it affects the dealer's draws. If the dealer can stand on the first two cards, there may be no draw for it to ruin. You can still bust your own hand too.
Low-rate blackjack begins with a 100-chip cap. Successive wins raise it to 300, 500, then 1,000. High Rate in Sotenbori starts at 1,000, then rises through 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000. Losing resets the streak cap. [Amulets and bet caps](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/218734-yakuza-kiwami-2/faqs/76366/casino-blackjack)
For the ordinary 1,000-chip entry, a successful natural at a 1,000 wager produces 1,500 profit.
For Haruka, stay at Purgatory. Natural wins at bets of 100, 300, and 500 give 150, 450, and 750 profit, totaling 1,350 if there are no pushes or earlier losses. That clears her 800 target without searching for a different venue. Check the actual balance rather than assuming the third hand must have finished it.
**Koi-koi: match the month, then build a combination**
Hanafuda cards belong to twelve months, with four cards per month. Match a card from your hand with a field card from the same month to capture them. If there isn't a match, the played card stays on the field. A card is then revealed from the deck and matched if possible.
The point isn't to collect the most cards indiscriminately. You're building scoring combinations. Use the Hand Guide and the highlighted legal matches while learning. [Turn sequence](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami2/play-spot/koikoi.html)
Useful combinations to recognize:
- Moon and sake cup: five points.
- Blossom curtain and sake cup: five.
- The three written red ribbons: five.
- The three blue ribbons: five.
- Boar, deer, and butterfly: five.
- Ten junk cards: one, then another point per extra junk card.
- Five ribbons: one, then another per extra ribbon.
- Five animal/variety cards: one, then another per extra.
- Three lights without Rainman: six.
- Rainman plus three other lights: seven.
- Four lights without Rainman: eight.
- All five lights: ten.
[Combination values](https://darage.com/guide/ryukiwami2/mini09.html)
The sake cup is especially useful because it can work with either the moon or the blossom curtain for a quick scoring hand. Don't stare at one difficult combination while giving away those opportunities.
**When to call Koi**
When you make a scoring combination, you can stop and bank the round or call Koi to continue. Continuing may increase your score, but the opponent can finish first and take the round away.
The final point lead is multiplied by the wager. At a 200 wager, a five-point lead pays 1,000 tags, and a three-point lead pays 600. Count the final lead, not the number of captured cards. [Payout rules](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/218734-yakuza-kiwami-2/faqs/76366/gambling-hall-koi-koi)
A useful English-version setup is Expert, wager 200, three rounds, with Double Points for 7+, viewing combinations, Season, Junk Modifier, and Hand Guide enabled. Use a Lucky Hanafuda Card if you have one, but don't assume it hands you the target payout automatically. [Settings route](https://gamerbase.net/guias/guia-de-lista-de-completados-completion-list-yakuza-kiwami-2-698)
Some versions or guides show a lower wager cap. If your menu only offers 30, use 30 and adjust the target. A seventeen-point lead gives 510 for Haruka. For the cumulative 1,000-tag entry, thirty-four net points across successful results gives 1,020. The displayed wager is the one that matters. [Lower wager settings](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami2/play-spot/koikoi.html)
Once you have a sufficient result, stop when the game gives you the chance. Chasing a few more points can turn a finished request into another failed attempt.
**Oicho-kabu: the last digit is your score**
Ordinary hands use the ones digit of the card total. Seven plus eight makes five, not fifteen and not a bust. Nine is best, zero worst.
Players choose a starting card, bet, receive another card, and decide whether to take one more. You compare against the dealer, who wins ordinary ties. As dealer, you can settle against some opponents before taking a third card for the rest. [Oicho-kabu rules](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/218734-yakuza-kiwami-2/faqs/76366/gambling-hall-oicho-kabu)
Special hands override the normal total:
- Player 1 + 4: double wager.
- Dealer 1 + 9: double wager and beats that player special.
- Three identical numbers: triple wager.
- 10 + 10 + 1: twenty times the wager, with Ten-Ten-One enabled.
[Special hands](https://darage.com/guide/ryukiwami2/mini10.html)
Without cheats, protect a strong eight or nine instead of drawing automatically. Very low totals give you more reason to ask for another card. Neither choice guarantees a win, but it helps to make the decision based on the score you actually have.
**The quick oicho-kabu route**
Select Advanced and enable Ten-Ten-One. Save before starting, then use a 10-10-1 Charm or Trips Yokan.
Choose One More. Both cheats need the third card to form their special hand. Stopping at two tens isn't the same as completing 10-10-1.
The twenty-times payout can pass the completion target quickly, especially when you're dealer and several opponents pay. Check the result and end the session after clearing the target. [Cheat use](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/218734-yakuza-kiwami-2/faqs/76366/gambling-hall-oicho-kabu)
**Reliable locker copies of the cheats**
- Royal Joker Card: Kamurocho G5, Sotenbori A5.
- Blackjack Amulet: Kamurocho I2, Sotenbori E3.
- Bust Amulet: Kamurocho J2, Sotenbori E4.
- Lucky Hanafuda Card: Kamurocho H5, Sotenbori I5.
- 10-10-1 Charm: Kamurocho D4, Sotenbori E5.
- Trips Yokan: Kamurocho D1, Sotenbori B2.
Find the keys and open the lockers first. The Sotenbori Royal Joker is A5; don't follow the H3 typo found in one poker list. [Locker contents](https://neoseeker.com/yakuza-kiwami-2/walkthrough/LockerKeysContents)
**Useful extra pickups**
In Kamurocho, look for a Royal Joker at the end of the stairs north of the intersection east of Beam, a Blackjack Amulet in Debolah's DJ booth, a Bust Amulet on Serena's roof, and a 10-10-1 Charm in the southern dead end behind Cafe Alps.
In Sotenbori, the Royal Joker is outside the acupuncturist. A Blackjack Amulet is in the doorway west of Shofukucho Poppo, behind the taxi. A Lucky Hanafuda Card is near the patio furniture through the Celebrity Town arch east of Four Shine.
Yotsudera Kaikan also has Trips Yokan in the second-floor northern storage office. On the roof, look beside the small tree and hanging light for a 10-10-1 Charm, and behind the eastern desk for a Bust Amulet. [Hidden pickups](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/218734-yakuza-kiwami-2/faqs/76366/hidden-items)
Haruka adds a Lucky Hanafuda Card at B rank, a Blackjack Amulet at S, and a Royal Joker Card at SSS. Keep those rewards in mind before spending your last copy on an ordinary completion task. [Trust rewards](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/218734-yakuza-kiwami-2/faqs/76366/gambling-cheat-items)
These games aren't all asking for the same kind of win. Poker needs a hand somebody will pay you for. Blackjack needs you to respect the dealer and the actual profit. Koi-koi asks whether another round is worth the risk. Oicho-kabu asks you to remember that the third card is the whole point of the cheat you just used.
Keep the target written down, save the scarce items for the attempts that need them, and leave once you've earned what you came for.
