Yakuza Kiwami: Gambling and Cheat Items
All right, let's deal with the gambling tables, because Kiwami gives you some very useful cheat items and then leaves you to figure out when using them is actually worthwhile.
I would not sell those items. I also wouldn't use the first one I found on the smallest possible bet just to see what happens. A little preparation can finish a completion requirement, help with Haruka's requests, and leave you with points for equipment afterward.
There are eight games here. Poker, blackjack, baccarat, and roulette use casino chips. Cee-lo, cho-han, koi-koi, and oicho-kabu use the Gambling Hall's wooden tags. Those are separate currencies, so a huge casino balance doesn't mean you already have the tags for a prize downstairs at the other place.
Where to play
Rune Casino is underneath Kyushu No. 1 Star. You can learn the password through The Price of an F-cup by refusing to let the men off at the end, or through The Yakuza's Apprentice II. Once you know it, speak to the restaurant's chef to enter. The other casino is in Purgatory.
The Gambling Hall opens through the Chapter 7 story. Its entrance is the lottery counter on Taihei Boulevard. Return there for the four Japanese gambling games. What the completion list wants
• Poker: 20,000 chips.
• Blackjack: 50,000 chips.
• Baccarat: 20,000 chips.
• Roulette: 50,000 chips.
• Cee-lo: 10,000 tags.
• Cho-han: 10,000 tags.
• Koi-koi: 10,000 tags.
• Oicho-kabu: 10,000 tags.
Buying chips or tags does not count as winning them. These are earnings requirements, not inventory-balance requirements. Leave the table to register a profitable session and check the list. Losing sessions don't subtract from completion progress you already banked, but continuing to gamble away a session's gains before leaving can waste the profit you were about to register. [Completion targets](https://neoseeker.com/yakuza-kiwami/walkthrough/CompletionList) [How gambling progress is counted](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/gambling-games)
Save before using a rare item. After a good result, leave the activity and save again. If you reload, you're restoring the whole save, including its completion progress and inventory. You are not keeping the win while magically getting the item back.
Blackjack
Start here if you want a useful supply of casino chips.
The aim is to beat the dealer without going over 21. Face cards count as ten. An ace can count as one or eleven. A two-card ace-and-ten-value hand is blackjack; reaching 21 with several cards is not the same opening hand.
Hit takes another card. Stand keeps what you have. Double Down increases the bet but commits you to one more card. Split separates a matching pair into two hands. Don't press those options just because they're available, especially while an item is doing the useful work for you.
Use the high-stakes table. Its normal maximum is 1,000 chips, but a winning streak raises that to 3,000, then 5,000, then 10,000. Losing drops the limit back down. That is why the timing of the cheat item matters. [Blackjack rules and rising bet limits](https://kouryakutsushin.com/ryu-kiwami/%E3%83%96%E3%83%A9%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A3%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF)
The two items are:
• Bust Amulet, locker G4. Helps force the dealer to bust over the next five hands.
• Blackjack Amulet, locker G3. Gives you blackjack over the next five hands.
Use the Bust Amulet while building the winning streak, then use the Blackjack Amulet once the larger bets are available. Bet up to the available limit while the blackjack effect is active and you have the chips to cover it.
There is an important catch with Bust Amulet: the dealer can start with 17 or better and stand without drawing. The amulet doesn't make a standing dealer take a card just so it can lose. It also doesn't protect you if you bust first. Don't turn a helpful item into an unnecessary loss by drawing recklessly.
If the setup goes badly, reload the save from before the items. If it works, finish the five-hand effect, leave the table, and bank the result. This can comfortably cover the 50,000-chip requirement without treating ordinary blackjack as an endless grind. Roulette
The Zero Jewel is the big one. Locker I1 gives you one, and Haruka gives another at rank SS. It makes the result either 0 or 00. It does not guarantee whichever of those two you personally prefer.
You have two sensible ways to use it.
Put a 1,000-chip split bet on the line between 0 and 00 for the safe version. That covers both outcomes. The return is 18,000 including the original stake, so the actual gain is 17,000.
Or save first and put 1,000 on just 0 or just 00. A correct straight bet returns 36,000 including the stake, which is 35,000 profit. If the jewel gives the other zero, reload and try again. Two successful straight-bet uses clear the 50,000 requirement.
Check where the chip is sitting before confirming. On a number means one number. On the shared border means a split. A badly placed chip can waste the whole attempt. [Zero Jewel sources and roulette payouts](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/playspot/roulette.html)
The Black Jewel from H2 makes black win. Red Jewels come from The Yakuza Hater and Haruka's rank B reward. Those are straightforward color bets, with a smaller return than a successful zero bet.
Without a jewel, a previous result doesn't make the opposite color “due.” Save a profitable session rather than assuming the next spin has to correct the last few. [Roulette cheat-item list](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/other-items)
Baccarat
Baccarat looks more involved than the decision you actually make. You bet on Player, Banker, or Tie, then the game deals according to its drawing rules. “Player” is the name of a hand, not a promise that Kiryu controls its cards.
The total uses the last digit. A hand adding up to seventeen is worth seven. Tens and face cards are zero, and an ace is one. The hand closest to nine wins.
The Player's Piece is in G2, and the Banker's Piece is in F4. Use the matching item and bet on its named side. The item secures that side's win; it does not also guarantee a Tie, Pair, or Super 6 side bet.
These items help, but one use of each does not finish the 20,000-chip requirement by itself. Don't read a big payout number and mistake your returned stake for pure profit. Banker also has its own payout reduction. [Baccarat rules and items](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/playspot/baccarat.html)
For the remaining earnings, save, play a short session, and leave when ahead. A Tie bet has a bigger payout but is much less likely to land. If you use it as a reload strategy, understand that you're trading attempts and loading time for a larger individual win. There isn't a reliable sequence of Player and Banker bets that guarantees a normal-table result.
Don't keep raising the bet just to recover a bad session. In a single-player game with a save available, you already have a cleaner way to protect the progress. [Baccarat completion advice](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/answers/472554-is-there-a-trick-to-baccarat)
Poker
Poker asks for 20,000 chips, and Kiwami offers Texas, Pineapple, and Omaha Hold 'Em.
Texas gives you two private cards and up to five shared cards. Pineapple starts with three private cards, then makes you discard one. Omaha gives you four private cards, but the finished hand must use exactly two of them and exactly three shared cards.
That Omaha rule catches people. Four hearts on the table and one heart in your hand do not make an Omaha flush. You need two hearts in your private cards and three on the board.
The basic hand order, weakest to strongest, is high card, pair, two pair, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, four of a kind, straight flush, and royal flush. A full house is three matching ranks plus a pair. A flush beats a straight. [Poker variants](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/poker)
Fold when your hand has no useful prospect and the price to continue keeps rising. A strong-looking private pair isn't automatically good against a board that makes obvious straights or flushes available.
With a good hand, you want opponents to contribute to the pot. Raising aggressively at the first opportunity can make everyone fold and leave you with a small win. Letting the hand develop before building the bet can produce more useful completion progress.
The Royal Joker Card is in H3. Use it on a promising hand rather than treating it as an automatic royal flush from any starting cards. Watch the shared cards, use the item when it can improve a worthwhile hand, and then play the resulting hand sensibly. Leave and save after a meaningful gain. [Poker betting and Royal Joker](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/playspot/poker.html)
Cee-lo
Three dice, one banker, and three other players. For an ordinary result, two dice match and the third sets the score. Rolling 4-4-6 gives a six, not fourteen. A larger ordinary score beats a smaller one.
Special results change the payout. Triple ones are the strongest result and pay five times the relevant bet. Other triples pay three times. A 4-5-6 pays double. A 1-2-3 is a losing result. Failing to make a valid hand after the allowed rolls or throwing a die out of the bowl can also lose the round.
You can bet up to 1,000 tags from the start. The single-roll option trades your extra attempts for a larger payout, so it pairs well with an item that controls your roll. [Cee-lo rules and multipliers](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/playspot/chinchirorin.html)
The items are All Ones Charm from B4, Trips Yokan from C4, 1-2-3 Gum from C3, and Piss Mountain Stone from E3.
For a simple large win, wait until Kiryu is banker, then use All Ones Charm. That lets the strong result collect against the other players rather than only one banker. Check how many tags they can actually pay before expecting an enormous return.
Trips Yokan gives a triple. The Gum and Stone sabotage the opposition, but you activate them when you get to roll. If the banker wins immediately and you never get a turn, you can't use one afterward to reverse the result.
Once everyone has had a banker turn and you can leave, register the profit. Save before trying another expensive round. [Cee-lo item behavior](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/cee-lo)
Cho-han
Cho means even. Han means odd. You're predicting whether the two dice add up to an even or odd number, not whether each individual die is even.
The starting maximum is 200 tags. It rises to 500 after ten games, 800 after twenty, and 1,000 after thirty. Leave the table and sit back down when you've reached a threshold so the higher limit becomes available. Small bets are enough while you're opening those limits.
Additional options unlock as you play: guessing an individual die, guessing both dice, and a head-to-head challenge after a win. In the head-to-head run, each successful continuation doubles the amount at risk, but one failed continuation loses that run's stake. Cashing out is a legitimate choice. [Cho-han limits and unlocks](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/playspot/cho-han.html)
Even Goro's Beads from E4 force an even result. Use them when the stake is worth protecting, not on a one-tag practice bet. The Lopsided Cigarette from F3 influences how the other gamblers distribute their bets. It doesn't simply make your chosen side win.
The ordinary pool payout depends on how the tags are divided between the two sides. That is why two correct bets of the same size may not pay the same amount. You can watch the other players' luck indicators, but don't confuse an indicator with a guaranteed result.
Save before committing a rare item or a big streak, then leave while the session is profitable. [Cho-han items](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/cho-han)
Koi-koi
This is the one I would take a few minutes to actually understand. You're matching flower-card suits and building scoring combinations, and that gives you more to work with than just guessing a random outcome.
On your turn, play a card from your hand. If its month matches a card on the table, capture the matching cards. Then the drawn card gets its own chance to match. When you complete a scoring set, you can stop and take the points or call koi-koi and try to improve the result.
Calling koi-koi keeps the hand alive for your opponent too. If they're one card away from a useful set, taking your current points can be the smarter move.
Use the on-screen matching and scoring assistance while learning the artwork. Match the plant or month, not just the background color. The Rain Man belongs to the willow suit, which can look quite different across its four cards. [Koi-koi rules and settings](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/playspot/koi-koi.html)
The most useful combinations to recognize are:
• Ten junk cards: one point, with more junk adding points.
• Five ribbons: one point, with additional ribbons adding points.
• Five animal or variety cards: one point, with additional ones adding points.
• Three red poetry ribbons: five points.
• Three blue ribbons: five points.
• Boar, deer, and butterflies: five points.
• Sake cup plus the moon: five points.
• Sake cup plus the cherry-blossom curtain: five points.
• Three bright cards without Rain Man: six points.
• Four brights including Rain Man: seven points.
• Four brights without Rain Man: eight points.
• All five brights: ten points.
Make sure the viewing combinations are enabled if you plan to use the sake cup combinations. They only need two particular cards, which makes the cup worth watching closely. [Scoring combinations](https://yakuza.fandom.com/wiki/Koi-koi)
For faster completion earnings, use Expert difficulty with the wager set to 200 and a short three-round match once you understand the game. Enable the seven-points-or-more doubling rule if you want stronger hands to pay more. Those settings also help the opponent, so keep saving successful sessions rather than pretending the higher wager is free money.
The Lucky Hanafuda Card is in H4. It improves your draws' ability to match the table during the opening round. It doesn't choose your captures intelligently or guarantee every round of a long match. Take the useful matches and build an actual set.
After a profitable match, leave, check the 10,000-tag counter, and save. [Practical high-wager setup](https://reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/comments/1630w00) [Lucky Hanafuda effect](https://yakuza.fandom.com/wiki/Koi-koi)
Oicho-kabu
Use the last digit of the card total and try to get close to nine. A total of eighteen is eight. A total of twenty is zero. You're comparing your hand with the banker, not trying to beat every other player's hand.
Ties favor the banker. Ordinary low totals are weak, but special hands can override the normal number comparison. That's why a hand that appears to add up badly can still win.
Beginner allows 100-tag bets. Ten beginner wins open Intermediate with 500-tag bets. Fifteen intermediate wins open Advanced with 1,000-tag bets. Banker wins against separate opponents count individually, so a good banker round can move the unlock along faster.
Use small player bets while opening the tiers, rather than risking the maximum just to qualify for the next table. [Oicho-kabu rules and progression](https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza-kiwami/playspot/oicho-kabu.html)
Trips Yokan from C4 creates the three-of-a-kind special hand. The 10-10-1 Charm is in I5 and creates the much larger-paying 10-10-1 hand. Make sure the 10-10-1 special-hand rule is enabled in the settings before spending its item.
Wait for a useful stake, preferably a banker turn, before using it. The special hand pays twenty times, so this is not something I would spend casually at the smallest bet. Get the profit, complete the session, and save.
If you're playing without an item, don't keep drawing on a strong eight or nine just because the game lets you. An extra card can turn a good last digit into a weak one. [Oicho-kabu special hands and cheat items](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/oicho-kabu)
Before you cash everything out
Look at the prize lists first. The casinos and Gambling Hall carry weapons and equipment that contribute to other completion requirements. Buying a new piece of gear may be more useful than exchanging everything for plates and realizing you need to earn the tags again later.
If Haruka currently wants a gambling result, make sure you're in the exact location she requested and start the session with that request active. Her target is its own job. A huge win from earlier in the story does not automatically satisfy a request she hasn't made yet.
That would be my approach to this whole section: unlock the useful stakes, bring the correct item, know what it actually changes, and save the successful result. Kiwami gives you enough help here. The main thing is not wasting it before you know what you're trying to accomplish.
