Yakuza Kiwami: Platinum and Achievement Guide
All right, let's get into the platinum and achievements for Yakuza Kiwami. If you've just finished doing this in Yakuza 0, there are a few things I want to clear up before you start planning another run. Kiwami has its own requirements, and carrying over the wrong advice from 0 can create a lot of unnecessary work.
The good news is that there are no permanently missable trophies in Kiwami's standard trophy list. You can finish the story and clean up the side content in Premium Adventure. The other big difference is that you can use New Game+ for Legend difficulty. You do not have to rebuild Kiryu from nothing for that run. [Missable-trophy clarification](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/181171-yakuza-kiwami/76190769) [Legend and clear-data options](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/new-game-and-premium-adventure)
There are 55 trophies on the PlayStation list, including KIWAMI for earning everything else. This guide covers those requirements and the corresponding achievements. Trophy names and substory titles appear below, but I'm keeping the main story explanations out of it. [Full trophy list](https://exophase.com/game/yakuza-kiwami-psn/trophies/)
The order I would use
Play the story on a difficulty you're comfortable with. Work on substories, Majima Everywhere, Komaki, and some minigames as they open up. That gives you experience and useful abilities while you still have story fights ahead of you.
After the credits, create your clear data and start Premium Adventure using that data. Choosing a fresh Premium Adventure without importing your clear data is not the same thing as continuing your progress.
Use that file for the rest of the completion list, substories, hostess stories, Haruka's requests, and Amon. Keep it in a separate save slot. When you're ready for Legend, create updated clear data at Serena so the abilities and equipment earned during cleanup come with you. Then use that data for New Game+ on Legend. Climax Battles are a separate main-menu mode, so you can tackle those after the story whenever you want a break from the city. [Premium Adventure and updated clear data](https://neoseeker.com/yakuza-kiwami/walkthrough/System)
I would finish the completion work before starting Legend. Story and substory progress reset in New Game+, even though a lot of your character development carries over. There is no reason to turn an almost-finished cleanup file into another story run when you can keep both.
The story trophies
These take care of themselves as you finish the game:
• When You Don't Pay Your Debts... comes from collecting the opening debt.
• Things Will Never Be the Same, Turmoil In the Tojo Clan, Funeral For the Old Ways, and Mother and Child cover Chapters 1 through 4.
• The Price of Life, Sins of the Father, The Dragon and the Koi, and Puppet Masters cover Chapters 5 through 8.
• A Man's Conviction, The Dragon Roars, Ashes to Ashes, and Legends Never Die cover Chapters 9 through 12.
• Thank You! is for finishing the finale.
You don't need a special dialogue answer or an extra chapter-specific action for those. Dragon of Legend is the separate trophy for completing the game on Legend. [Story trophy requirements](https://yakuza.fandom.com/wiki/Yakuza_Kiwami/Trophies_and_Achievements)
Build Kiryu while you're doing the rest
Take Back Those Ten Years! is the early ability-purchase milestone in Soul, Technique, and Body. Master of Body and Soul requires every ability in those three sections. Buy upgrades as you earn experience instead of sitting on it while fights keep getting harder.
Dragon of Dojima has a different progression system. Its abilities come through Majima Everywhere and Komaki's training, so finishing the three experience-based sections doesn't finish Dragon.
Komaki Style Master requires all of Komaki's training. His later lessons use images bought with Coliseum points, and the lessons have to be completed in order. If the Hannya-man lesson isn't available, check Majima's current situation as well as your training progress. A story-related break in Majima Everywhere can hold that lesson up. [Ability progression](https://strategywiki.org/wiki/Yakuza_Kiwami/Abilities) [Komaki progression checks](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/faq)
The Strongest Fighter means winning every different Coliseum tournament. That is separate from the completion-list targets of 50 tournament wins and 25 different opponents defeated. Repeating an easy tournament can increase the win counter without finishing the trophy or giving you all the opponents you need. Rotate through the available tournaments and keep checking what you've actually cleared. [Coliseum requirements](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/coliseum)
Majima has more requirements than reaching a rank
Kiryu-chan! comes from being chased by Majima. It's Not Over Yet! requires Rank B. The Dragon of Dojima Returns! requires all the Majima Everywhere abilities, so getting a high rank is only part of that job.
There are four trophies for Majima interrupting a street fight:
• Let's Fight! is the Thug-style interruption.
• Swing For the Fences! is Slugger.
• Break it Down! is Breaker.
• Are Ya Havin' Fun Yet? is Mad Dog of Shimano.
Fighting those styles in an ordinary encounter is not enough for these four. You need the version where another street fight starts and Majima forces his way into it. Watch for the lone, stationary troublemakers who speak to Kiryu before the fight, rather than assuming every roaming group can produce the event.
Majima From Above and Majima From Below require the rooftop and manhole ambushes. Goromi the Hostess, Majima On the Beat, and Majima of the End cover Goromi, Officer Majima, and Zombie Majima.
Read Nishida's messages and the locked Dragon abilities. They tell you which special encounters still matter. Some rank events wait on story progress, while other abilities need minigame wins or particular versions of Majima. If the game has told you he's taking a break, running the same block repeatedly will not move that story limit. [Majima progression](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/majima-everywhere-system) [Special encounter requirements](https://neoseeker.com/yakuza-kiwami/walkthrough/MajimaEverywhere2)
Substories and Amon
Tell Me a Story requires 10 completed substories, Hero of the Story requires 30, and Story of My Life requires all 78.
Seven individual substories also have their own trophies:
• You'll Only Get Burned: The Price of an F-Cup.
• That's a Man!: My Baby's a Showgirl.
• Sonic Right Hook: Bet On a Champ.
• An Answer Owed: The Yakuza's Wife, called Wife of a Yakuza in the trophy description.
• Kidney Stones: A Doctor's Duty.
• A Bad Business: The Fake Mizuki's Truth.
• She's Worth It?: Man on a Ledge.
Some stories need an earlier substory, a specific companion, a particular time, or more main-story progress. Missing the initial appearance does not mean you've lost the trophy. Check the condition before deciding a substory is broken. [Substory list and conditions](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/substories)
Amon Defeated requires beating Jo Amon. His challenge needs the other 77 substories completed and every ability unlocked, including Dragon. Once those conditions are met in the finale or Premium Adventure, his message sends you to Theater Square. Don't stop at 77 and wait for a text while Dragon still has locked abilities. Bring a full supply of recovery items and equipment you actually want to use in a difficult fight. [Amon's unlock requirements](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/finale-substories)
Yui, Rina, and the date trophies
Yui is at Jewel and Rina is at Shine. Both have relationship progression, a substory, and a final event. Yui the Hostess and Rina the Hostess require their respective final scenes, so don't leave as soon as you've completed a substory or filled a rank meter.
Can I Call You? requires successfully asking a hostess on a date. When dates become available, arrange one and choose mahjong for Sexy Ron. You need to play mahjong with her; you don't need to win the match for that trophy. This is an easy one to combine with the relationship work instead of making another trip later. What 100% actually means
Half the Battle is 50% of the Completion List, and Perfectionist is 100%. Use the list in your pause menu as your checklist. The Play Log tracks additional things, so filling every Play Log entry is not the requirement.
A few examples matter here. The completion-list locker target is 30 opened lockers, although there are 50 to find. Its substory target ends at 40, but Story of My Life still needs all 78. MesuKing's card target is 45, while the last part of its substory chain requires 50 cards. You can finish one counter and still have work left for another trophy. [Completion List versus Play Log](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/completion) [Locker target](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1670634257) [MesuKing progression](https://gamerbase.net/guias/mesuking-guia-completa-paso-a-paso-yakuza-kiwami-691)
The larger collection targets are 100 different weapons and 70 different gear items. Buying another copy of something you've already owned doesn't add a new entry. Check the Play Log before spending money, and look at weapon shops, Ebisu Pawn, locker rewards, substories, the Coliseum, and gambling prizes for missing items. There isn't a Dragon & Tiger search-and-crafting business to repeat from 0. [Weapon sources](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/weapons) [Gear sources](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/gear)
Work on the ordinary counters while traveling: different restaurant orders, taxis, street fights, helping attack victims, weapon kills, and different Heat Actions. Pronto has day and night menus, so one visit at one time of day doesn't finish it. Restaurant meals and food items used from your inventory are also different counters. The combat targets eventually include 200 enemies defeated in each style, 300 Heat Actions used, and 40 different Heat Actions. [Completion requirements](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/completion-list)
The minigames you actually have to finish
What a Player requires trying every minigame. Cover batting, bowling, darts, pool, karaoke, mahjong, shogi, UFO Catcher, the photo booth, Pocket Circuit, MesuKing, poker, blackjack, baccarat, roulette, cho-han, cee-lo, koi-koi, and oicho-kabu. Also pay for and watch the show at Asia. Visiting Asia for a story or Majima event doesn't substitute for watching the show. [What a Player checklist](https://playstationtrophies.org/game/yakuza-kiwami/trophy/189637-what-a-player.html)
The Dragon of Pocket Circuit Reborn! requires winning all the tournament races, through the 2005 King of Speed Cup. Throne of the MesuKing! requires defeating all its rivals. Their related substories and Majima challenges still matter for the other parts of the platinum.
For the ordinary minigame completion entries, these are the targets to keep beside you:
• Darts: 10 hat tricks.
• Pool: three combination shots and three carom shots.
• Batting: 10 two-panel knockouts and 1,600 points on each of the four courses.
• Bowling: 10 strikes and five split conversions in Split Game.
• Shogi: five wins without a takeback.
• UFO Catcher: 15 different prizes.
• Photo booth: 10 best shots.
• Karaoke: at least 900 on each of the six listed songs.
• Poker and baccarat: 20,000 earned in each.
• Blackjack and roulette: 50,000 earned in each.
• Cho-han, cee-lo, koi-koi, and oicho-kabu: 10,000 earned in each.
[Minigame completion targets](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/completion-list)
Mahjong needs 10 winning hands, five Mangan-or-better hands, a Haneman-or-better hand, Riichi Ippatsu, a Full Straight, and 100,000 sticks earned through match winnings. Don't mistake the starting sticks for profit. For a Full Straight, you need the 123, 456, and 789 sequences in the same suit, along with the rest of a legal winning hand. Having scattered numbers from all three suits isn't enough. [Mahjong scoring and completion](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/mahjong)
Save before using a gambling cheat item. Several are limited finds, and Haruka has separate gambling requests later. I would check those before using everything to finish an ordinary completion counter.
Haruka's requests are separate
Hand In Hand requires walking one kilometer while holding Haruka's hand in Premium Adventure. Ask her to accompany you, slow to a walk, and let her take Kiryu's hand. With the standard PlayStation controls, holding R1 lets you walk. Running around beside her doesn't count as hand-holding.
Mister Master requires EX Rank in her requests. Take her to the place she asks for and start the requested activity through the proper interaction. A purchase at a different branch or a normal minigame session isn't automatically credit for her request.
The late requests deserve their own preparation. She asks for 950 on Otometal MY LIFE, above the ordinary completion target of 900. There is also an expert Rotation pool match and three successful splits in a single bowling Split Game. Finishing the regular minigame completion list does not mean you've already met those conditions. [Haruka's requests](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2924279743) [Hand-holding requirement](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/trophies-achievements)
Climax Battles and Legend
Death By Climax requires all 30 Climax Battles. These unlock after finishing the story and use their own rules, character setups, time limits, and restrictions. Your fully upgraded story save doesn't turn every challenge into a fully upgraded Kiryu. Read the conditions before a run, especially if a battle restricts your style or gives you very little health. Back out through the mode's menus when you're done so its progress is saved. [Climax Battle rules](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/181171-yakuza-kiwami/faqs/75194/climax-battles)
For Dragon of Legend, take your upgraded clear data into New Game+ and keep making manual saves. Legend removes the usual retry safety net. A failed section can mean replaying everything since your last save, which makes preparation much more valuable than carrying one extra recovery drink.
Chapter 9's car chase is the part I would prepare for separately. Your combat upgrades don't aim the gun for you. Aim at the center of the enemy's colored targeting circle, prioritize enemies about to attack, use the aiming slowdown, and reload during gaps. Rockets need immediate attention. Take the last available manual save before the long sequence and expect a failure to send you back to that save. [Legend and car-chase advice](https://answersforgamers.com/how-difficult-is-yakuza-kiwamis-legend-difficulty/)
Before you call it finished
Check that you have the story and Legend clears, 100% Completion List, all 78 substories including Amon, every ability, all Komaki training, every Coliseum tournament type, the specific Majima encounters, both hostess endings and the mahjong date, all Pocket Circuit tournaments and MesuKing rivals, Haruka's EX Rank and hand-holding distance, and all 30 Climax Battles.
That's the whole trophy list accounted for. There is a lot to do, but you can make the different parts help each other. Majima builds Dragon and supplies experience. The Coliseum helps with Komaki and equipment. Substories fill out the city while opening more activities. Keep checking what is actually missing, and you can spend your time finishing those things instead of repeating something you've already done.
