Yakuza 0: Catfight Club, tournament wins, and the money requirements All right, this one is for the Japan Catfight Club in Yakuza 0. If you're trying to finish the achievements and the completion list, there are two different goals here, and I want to keep those separate so you don't spend a bunch of time working toward the wrong thing. I'm covering the original Yakuza 0 here. What you actually need Cat Scratch Fever requires ten successful bets on full three-round tournaments. Your fighter needs to get through all three opponents for one tournament victory to count. Ten individual fights won't do it. Those ten tournament victories don't have to be consecutive, so a failed tournament isn't a reason to start your count over. Trophy requirement: https://playstationtrophies.org/game/yakuza-zero/trophy/166664-cat-scratch-fever.html · Tournament clarification: https://reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/comments/103r2by/yakuza_0_catfightcat_scratch_fever_achievement/ The completion list has its own money milestones: ¥1 million, ¥10 million, and ¥100 million. Keep going until the final one is checked. Finishing the money requirement doesn't automatically finish Cat Scratch Fever, and getting the trophy doesn't mean you've earned enough for every money milestone. Completion requirements: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/816306-yakuza-0/faqs/74451/completion-metrics Getting started Kiryu gets access during Chapter 6, after the story introduces Mr. Moneybags. The JCC is at Theater Square in Kamurocho. The fights use rock, paper, scissors. Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, and paper beats rock. Winning an exchange lets your fighter attack. Matching the opponent leads to a button-mashing contest. Attack strength runs through white, blue, green, red, and rainbow. Rainbow attacks have an extra mashing opportunity, so pay attention instead of skipping them. Use your platform's displayed button prompts. Location and mechanics: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/816306-yakuza-0/faqs/74451/catfights Choosing a fighter Jennifer is a sensible starting choice for tournament attempts because her attack ratings are strong across the board. Momoko is another option. Read the scrolling information before committing: tiredness or soreness is a reason to reconsider. These are clues rather than a promise about the result. Fighter selection: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2831303827 Here are the attack ratings in rock / scissors / paper order: - Jennifer: 5 / 5 / 4. Can get an opening attack. - Momoko: 3 / 5 / 4. Can recover health when weakened. - Francisca: 3 / 3 / 4. Can recover after being knocked down. - Yurie: 2 / 2 / 4. Can turn a defeat into a comeback victory. - Maria: 1 / 2 / 4. Also has a comeback ability. - Sayuri: 5 / 1 / 3. Can get an opening attack. - Yuiko: 3 / 4 / 1. Can recover health when weakened. - Rei: 3 / 3 / 1. Can recover after being knocked down. Those special abilities are chance-based. Don't build a plan that depends on yours activating, and don't assume the fight is settled before the result actually appears. Fighter data and abilities: https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza0/cat-fight.html Picking your moves Look at the opponent's ratings rather than just repeating your own strongest move. One useful approach is to choose a hand that can only lose to their weakest attack. For example, if their paper attack is weak, using rock means a losing exchange exposes you to that weaker move. It still doesn't guarantee survival because attack strength can increase. Conservative move selection: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/816306-yakuza-0/faqs/74451/catfights Using that idea, these are reasonable starting choices against the fighters with a clear one-star weakness: - Against Yuiko or Rei: rock. Their paper is weak. - Against Sayuri: paper. Her scissors are weak. - Against Maria: scissors. Her rock is weak. That's damage management, not a prediction that the computer will always choose a particular hand. Against a more balanced opponent, there's less of an obvious weakness to exploit. You can watch for repeated choices, but a streak isn't proof that the next move will be the same. The button-mashing part Give the prompts a reasonable effort, but don't wreck your hands trying to force a result. Players report losing ties even while mashing quickly. There isn't a verified button rhythm here that I can tell you will win every time. You'll see suggestions to delay your input, switch hands at the last second, or use particular equipment. Some players swear by them. Others get different results. I wouldn't turn any of those into a required step or tell someone their controller is the problem because a trick didn't work. Community strategies and conflicting reports: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2831303827 A practical route for the ten tournament wins 1. Save before starting a session. 2. Pick a fighter and read the current information. 3. Use a small bet if your immediate goal is tournament victories. 4. Stay through all three fights. Leaving after an earlier win doesn't complete a tournament. 5. Count the victory after the final result, then save your progress. 6. Repeat until you have ten recorded tournament wins. The small bet is to limit how much money you lose during failed attempts. I'm not claiming it makes the game easier. If you reload, load the save containing your latest victories. Going back to an older save also takes you back to its earlier progress. Saving after successful runs prevents that avoidable mistake. Player reports on saving and tournament progress: https://reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/comments/103r2by/yakuza_0_catfightcat_scratch_fever_achievement/ Handling the money milestones For the money side, look at the payout before accepting a bet. A larger multiplier can make an underdog worth considering, but it also comes with the risk of losing your stake. Players commonly use Maria for money attempts because her payouts can be much higher than Jennifer's. Another approach is to take an available profitable cash-out after an early round rather than risk that money on the entire bracket. That can help the earnings goal, but it won't add a full tournament victory. Treat it as a separate route, especially if you already have Cat Scratch Fever. Community money strategy: https://reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/comments/19b86f4/everyone_acts_like_jcc_sucks_but_i_dont_get/ Don't confuse the payout with profit. If you stake ¥10 million and receive ¥15 million back, your gain is ¥5 million. Leave the minigame and check your completion counter after a profitable session instead of assuming every displayed payout has moved it by that entire amount. How earnings are recorded: https://playstationtrophies.org/forum/topic/282285-yakuza-zero-road-map-amp-trophy-guide/ I would work on the tournament count first, check how much money progress came along with it, and then finish whatever is left. If you already have plenty of in-game money and want to combine both goals, you can use larger stakes, but save first and expect failed attempts. There's no need to keep risking large bets once the money milestones are done. Keep two checks beside each other: ten tournament victories, and every Catfight money milestone completed. Once both are finished, you've covered this part of the achievement and completion grind.
