Yakuza 0: Pocket Circuit, all races and rival challenges
All right, let's get into Pocket Circuit. I'm covering the full run here, including the regular races, the rival races, the parts you need, and the order to do it in. There are a few places where following a list of parts without knowing where those parts come from will send you in circles. I want to get those out of the way first.
This is for the original Yakuza 0. These are recommended community builds, not a promise that every attempt will win. Pocket Circuit can still throw you off the track with the right setup. Check the exact parts, pay attention to the recovery prompts, and don't assume a failed attempt means you need to replace the whole car.
Before you start spending money
Kiryu can enter Pocket Circuit Stadium at the west end of Shichifuku Street during Chapter 2, after returning to his apartment and going back out the following day. Speak to Fighter and do the tutorial. That also starts his friendship.
The expensive part of this is the components. If you are early in the game, you can come back when Real Estate Royale has given you more money to work with. For the route below, the motor and the car that supplies your bumper alone cost ¥60 million.
The car drives itself. Your main jobs during the race are keeping it on the track and deciding whether to boost. Start these setups without boosting. When the camera zooms in and the stabilization prompt appears, tap enough to settle the car. Don't empty the entire recovery meter on one wobble. Slow down and watch a troublesome section instead of fast-forwarding through another failure. The parts to get outside the stadium
- High Torque Motor 2.0: ¥10 million from the Kamuro Dealer unlocked through substory #8, Password Protected. The dealer is in the Kamuro Shopping Area. This is specifically the 2.0 motor.
- Bumper Plate: buy the Killer Bee car at Ebisu Pawn for ¥50 million. The plate comes with it.
- High Speed Battery and High Capacity Battery: Don Quijote, ¥500 each.
- Boost Gears: reward from Mika's substory #38, Gift of Love.
- Heavy Suspension: reward from Harumi's substory #41, The Woman They Call Professor.
Keep those last two in mind. Mika comes before the Pro-Am setup below, and Harumi comes before King of Speed. You do not need to hunt random Dream Machine prizes for this route. Component locations: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/816306-yakuza-0/faqs/74451/pocket-circuit-components
Race builds
I'm putting the parts in the same order each time: tires, frame, motor, gears, battery, then attachments. Leave the Side Stabilizer slot empty for these builds. An attachment not listed is not supposed to be equipped. Don't leave something on from the previous race without checking it.
1. Introductory Race
- Tires: Slim Tires
- Frame: Balanced Frame
- Motor: High Torque Motor 2.0
- Gears: Balanced Gears
- Battery: High Speed Battery
- Suspension: none
- Bumper: none
2. Little Racers' Cup
- Tires: Slim Tires Plus
- Frame: Balanced Frame
- Motor: High Torque Motor 2.0
- Gears: Balanced Gears Plus
- Battery: High Speed Battery
- Suspension: none
- Bumper: none
3. Rookies' Race
- Tires: Soft Tires Plus
- Frame: Balanced Frame Plus
- Motor: High Torque Motor 2.0
- Gears: Balanced Gears Plus
- Battery: High Capacity Battery
- Suspension: none
- Bumper: Bumper Plate
The battery changes here. Copy the whole setup instead of just upgrading the tires and frame. Early-race build reference: https://trueachievements.com/game/Yakuza-0/walkthrough/19
4. Pro-Am Race
- Tires: Extra Spiked Tires
- Frame: Extra Balanced Frame
- Motor: High Torque Motor 2.0
- Gears: Boost Gears
- Battery: High Speed Battery
- Suspension: none
- Bumper: Bumper Plate
Finish Mika's race first for those Boost Gears.
5. Expert's Race
- Tires: Super Soft Tires
- Frame: Super Balanced Frame
- Motor: High Torque Motor 2.0
- Gears: Godspeed Gears Plus
- Battery: High Speed Battery
- Suspension: none
- Bumper: Bumper Plate
6. Champions' Cup
- Tires: Super Spiked Tires
- Frame: Super Balanced Frame
- Motor: High Torque Motor 2.0

7. King of Speed Cup
- Tires: Ultra Slim Tires
- Frame: Ultra Metal Frame
- Motor: Godspeed Motor
- Gears: Extra Godspeed Gears
- Battery: High Capacity Battery
- Suspension: Heavy Suspension
- Bumper: Bumper Plate
This uses the regular Godspeed Motor, not the Dream Machine's Mark II. Get the Heavy Suspension from Harumi before attempting this particular build. Later-race build reference: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/816306-yakuza-0/faqs/74451/pocket-circuit
Buying parts without getting ahead of yourself
Return to the stadium shop as you win races. Winning Introductory unlocks the Plus parts used for the early races. Rookies opens the Extra parts used for Pro-Am. Pro-Am opens the Super components used for Expert's and Champions'. Champions' opens the Ultra components and Godspeed Motor used for King of Speed.
For the final Fighter setup, Super Boost Gears cost ¥15 million and are available after Champions'. Don't confuse those with Boost Gears, Godspeed Gears, or Extra Godspeed Gears. The names are similar enough that this is an easy place to buy the wrong thing. Parts progression: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/816306-yakuza-0/faqs/74451/pocket-circuit-components
The rivals, in order
The rival chain runs from substory #36 through #43. Work through it alongside the cups. When another scene does not trigger, leave the stadium and return, then check the people near the parts counter.
1. Takuma, #36, I am Kazuma-kun. His challenge appears as you progress Fighter's friendship through racing. Use the Introductory build, but change Slim Tires to Slick Tires. The reward is the Blue Bolt decal.
2. Hideki, #37, The Rocky Road of Romance. After Takuma, visit Children's Park for the next scene, then return to the stadium. Use the Little Racers' build. Finish this before moving to Mika.
3. Mika, #38, Gift of Love. Use the Rookies' setup. Winning gives you DRAG-ON and Boost Gears. Now you have the gears needed for the Pro-Am build.
4. Satoru, #39, Suspicion of Perversion. Leave and re-enter after Mika, then approach the parts-shop area. Use the Pro-Am setup.
5. Sena, #40, The Prodigious Racer. Use the Expert's setup. Her reward includes the Sunshine decal.
6. Harumi, #41, The Woman They Call Professor. Visit Earth Angel in the Champion District after Sena, then return to race her. Use the Champions' setup. Winning gives you Cool Striker and Heavy Suspension.
7. Kazuyoshi, #42, The Greatest Glory. After Harumi, use the King of Speed setup. Win for the Dark Purple decal.
8. Pocket Circuit Fighter, #43, The Fighter's Crown. Finish the previous rivals, all seven cups, and his friendship events. Then take his challenge with the separate build below.

Pocket Circuit Fighter's final race
- Tires: Ultra Spiked Tires
- Frame: Ultra Metal Frame
- Motor: Godspeed Motor
- Gears: Super Boost Gears
- Battery: High Capacity Battery
- Side Stabilizer: none
- Suspension: Heavy Suspension
- Bumper: Bumper Plate
Watch the opening laps carefully. If you burn through the recovery meter at the first bad corner, you can leave yourself with nothing for the next jump. Get the car settled, release the button, and be ready for the next prompt. I would leave boost alone on the first attempt so you can see where the setup needs help. Final-race parts cross-check: https://yakuzathai.com/game/y0/guide/
If you keep losing with that setup, here is a different published combination to try rather than changing random parts:
- Tires: Ultra Spiked Tires
- Frame: Ultra Speed Frame
- Motor: High Torque Motor 2.0
- Gears: Super Godspeed Gears
- Battery: High Speed Battery
- Side Stabilizer: Side Stabilizer 3.0
- Suspension: Heavy Suspension
- Bumper: Bumper Plate
Super Godspeed Gears are sold after King of Speed. Side Stabilizer 3.0 is ¥10 million at the same Kamuro Dealer that sells High Torque Motor 2.0. This is a separate build, so replace every listed part rather than mixing half of each setup. When Fighter disappears
Fighter has his own story running alongside the races. After Rookies, find him on the east side of Nakamichi Street and encourage him to return for the kids. After Champions', find him at Public Park 3. Follow those conversations through. Maxing his friendship awards Devil Killer and opens custom track creation. His friendship reward and his final rival race are separate things to finish. Fighter friendship events: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/816306-yakuza-0/faqs/74451/chapter-2-substories
If the car still won't cooperate
Before spending more money, check these:
- Are you racing the cup or a rival? Match the setup to the actual event.
- Did you select High Torque Motor 2.0 instead of the plain High Torque Motor?
- Did you leave a stabilizer, suspension, or bumper equipped from another race?
- Does the battery match the build?
- Are you boosting into the section where you keep flying out?
- Are you using all your recovery on the first wobble?
I would try the exact setup again without boost before changing it. If you still want to experiment, change one thing at a time and note what happens. Changing the tires, frame, motor, and battery together makes it much harder to tell what actually helped. Published setups vary, and repeated attempts can have different outcomes; a build being listed in a guide does not make it an automatic win. Completion cleanup
Winning the seven cups earns The Dragon of Pocket Circuit. For the broader completion list, also enter at least ten races and collect enough different components: 20 tires, 15 motors, 20 gears, and 20 frames. Check the smaller milestones as you work toward those totals. Buying one expensive part does not replace collecting different ones.
Finish the rival chain and Fighter's friendship too if you are clearing the game's substories and friendships. Don't stop just because the cup achievement appeared. Completion requirements: https://dswiipspwikips3.jp/yakuza0/pocket-circuit.html
