I got done with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 yesterday and I posted a lot of stuff about it already, like walkthroughs and little guides and stuff that I had in mind. Now I just want to talk a little bit about my thoughts on it.
The game itself turned out to be amazing. The first time I tried to play it I didn't play it for long because I got stuck. When I say stuck I mean I tried a couple of times, got pissed off, and quit. When you are escaping the city for the first time, I got stuck there. I tried it and I didn't connect with it the way that I wanted to so I just didn't play it. I put it down.
I picked it back up a week later and tried again and I still kept getting killed. I got pissed off and quit again. I just couldn't get into it. I couldn't connect with it the way that I wanted to.
I started it up again and I was really determined to force myself to put in 5 or 10 hours just to see if it connected. Everybody kept telling me it was an amazing game and I was missing out. Part of me was going to skip the first one and jump straight to the second one. Again I've been gaming for a long time. I can play anything. It just wasn't connecting with me, right?
I jumped into it and I really started putting some good time into it. When I did that I got through that area. I saved the girl on my way down and then the story just started unfolding pretty quick. I started doing all these story elements with hands and rotate and all these things started falling into place. I just started getting into it and then I ended up getting into a conversation with Teresa, which of course led into her DLC. I didn't know that was going to happen. Right after I started getting into it I got locked into her DLC.
I was annoyed by that and I was about to stop playing it again because I wasn't even playing his story. I got locked into some really long and complicated DLC that I didn't really plan on starting so I forced myself to play a little bit further. I started getting really into her story. At first it was annoying but then I started getting into her story with her dad and with her family. It started getting into the whole silver situation and it just unfolded into this 7- to 10-hour escapade with her.
So then I just continued playing and I finally got through her storyline. Then I went back to playing Henry and the first thing I do is I get stuck with a mission trying to steal a ring from a dead guy. I didn't even know where to start because I'm very familiar with open-world games. Normally when I get involved in one, I kind of go with the flow but with this one I had no idea where to start.
I just started doing shit and combat was a bitch because I kept dying every time I got into combat. It's just one thing: everything I tried to do, I sucked at it.
As I started playing it more, I started realizing it's almost like a realism simulator. The more time you put into it, the more you learn the skills that you need to play the game and those skills then make it easier to do stuff in the game. It was absolutely crazy.
After a good number of hours I started getting really into it. Before I knew it I was sitting here doing all these Miller quests, farming Belladonna to make Savior snaps, and leveling up my fighting. It just branched out from there and I got addicted as hell.
220 hours later I finally finished it and I had done almost every single side quest, activity, and mission that there was to do. The only quest that I didn't do, just because I got tired of messing with it, is one of the last hunt missions: you had to get a whole bunch of food. It would have only taken me like a half hour. I was just done with it at that point. I'd already put a lot of time into it.
I can say now, after getting through it and seeing the ending, because of how big the game is, there are a few parts of it where I wouldn't necessarily say I got bored.
