I was reading Robyn Hood last night, and I started thinking about Red Riding Hood. I’ve seen all of her appearances up to this point, but there was something about her in this run that stood out to me.
Visually, this is probably the best version of her I’ve seen so far in the entire Grimm Fairy Tales universe. The hairstyle, the outfit, the facial expressions, everything came together so well. The way she looked also matched the writer’s take on her personality.
I did some research and found that the artist was Tony Brescini. I’m talking about her appearances around Robyn Hood #4, “City Lights,” and #5, “Grudge Match,” including the storyline where she and Robyn are put into a ring and made to fight.
All of the characters look good, but she was the one who stood out to me. That version of Red Riding Hood is one of my favorite character visuals I’ve seen in the whole Grimm universe. The artist did an absolutely amazing job with her.
On top of the visuals, they did such a beautiful job with her personality and her dialogue. The visuals mixed with her writing made this one of my favorite reads in the entire Grimm Fairy Tales universe to date. I wish there was a lot more with this combination.
From what I found looking ahead, I don’t think they keep that same visual style for her future appearances. That’s a shame, because I would have loved to see more comics with her looking like that.
