SCP-187 sees the present and the future at the same time. If she's looking at someone, she can also see a significant change that's going to happen to them. That can mean an injury, a death, or something much smaller that still represents a major change in their life.
She notices that a researcher isn't wearing her wedding ring, even though the ring is right there. The researcher's husband files for divorce the next day. Because she'd worn it for nineteen years, not wearing the ring counts as a big enough departure from normal for SCP-187 to see it.
There are some strange limits to this. She has to be looking at the person or object. She can't just answer questions about anything that might happen in the future. An ordinary change of clothes doesn't register, but a person getting shot does.
The written tests create another problem. She gets every answer right, even on tests in languages she doesn't understand, because she can see the answers she's going to write. A computerized test produces an ordinary result. Nobody can explain where the correct answers on the paper originally come from. She's copying her own future work without knowing the answers herself.
That sounds useful until it gets into what she has to live with. Someone who's alive in front of her can also appear as a corpse. Food appears alongside what it will become after digestion. Water can look like urine. She becomes severely malnourished because she can't bring herself to eat, and the Foundation has to arrange blindfolded meals.
Her warnings can help. She sees a containment door already destroyed, and seventeen hours later something breaks through it. Security is ready because she said something. But another warning may help cause the death she sees. A prisoner hears her panic about his future injury, later tries to escape, and is shot. The entry leaves that connection uncertain.
The Foundation keeps finding reasons to use her ability, including a proposal to have her look at supposedly indestructible SCPs and describe their destruction. For her, though, being able to see what's coming means seeing terrible things whenever she opens her eyes, without necessarily being able to prevent them.
