Van Helsing has a whole run of miniseries that take her through the classic horror monsters. Dracula, Frankenstein, a mummy, a werewolf. Then Robyn Hood ends up on the other side of the fight too, which creates a different problem when the person you're fighting is already your friend.
Helsing: The Darkness and the Light gives her an early story of her own. Her father's journal arrives at her home in New York, and a clue in it sends her looking for answers about what happened to him. She's an inventor as well as a vampire hunter, and both sides of her come from Abraham.
Van Helsing vs. Dracula follows her as she's trying to build a life of her own. She's found love and established herself in New York, but friends asking for help draw her back into a fight with Dracula. Having a life outside the hunting doesn't mean the hunting is going to leave her alone.
Frankenstein changes the situation again. She works with another hunter, then ends up being hunted herself. Surviving means working with creatures she would normally be fighting. She's used to being the person who understands the threat and knows how to stop it. Here she has to figure things out while something that seems unstoppable is coming after her.
The Mummy of Amun-Ra brings an old enemy into present-day New York while Liesel is dealing with a major personal loss. The threat reaches into the city's crime families, so it spreads beyond a fight between her and one monster.
The Werewolf takes her much farther from home. She's searching for the Sword of Heaven, and the story gets into a heist in the Forbidden City, a vampire fight on a plane, and a crash in the Himalayas. By the time she's stranded in the mountains, the search for a weapon has become a struggle to survive.
Then Van Helsing vs. Robyn Hood starts with the two of them investigating the same crime boss and a dangerous new drug. They have a reason to work together and a friendship behind them, which makes the fight promised by the title more complicated than meeting another monster.
There's a lot of room for different stories in that group. Her family history keeps following her, but so do her friendships, the people she's lost, and the life she's trying to have between hunts.
