**Kingdom Come: Deliverance — The Monastery, the Quick Way and the Full Way** All right, so I got near the end of the game and ended up at the monastery sequence. And it was the most annoying part of the game for me. I was still hooked on the game. I just wasn't enjoying how slow everything had become, especially after losing access to all the gear I'd worked so hard to get. So I decided to put together a walkthrough of this whole section. There's the quick way, where you get to Pious and get out, and there's the long way, where you work through the monastery, the other novices, the missing pages, and everything going on around you. Pious is **Antonius**. If you wanted the answer without spending several days pretending to be a monk, there it is. Killing him and leaving means skipping the monastery's side quests and a good bit of story. The longer route below is for getting that content before you leave. I've worked the investigation around the daily routine, because you still have duties, and the game absolutely expects you to do them. I got kicked out twice while trying to rush around and find the pages. Eventually I had to slow down. That's what I want this to help with: knowing what to do next without getting halfway across the monastery when you're supposed to be somewhere else. **Spoilers throughout. This is the monastery in the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance, not the sequel.** This is a flexible multi-day plan, not a timed speedrun. Give yourself another day when a conversation or patrol gets in the way. **Before picking a route** Make a separate save before joining or breaking in, and keep it until you're outside with the outcome you wanted. Your equipment normally goes into storage when you take the novice's clothes. Remember the room where you changed near Brother Porter: that's where you return for your belongings. If you're pursuing **Merciful**, don't use the killing route. Knocking someone unconscious and killing them are different actions. Don't kill Antonius before the story sends you after Pious. Have **Poverty, Chastity and Obedience** or **A Needle in a Haystack** active. The strange die is quest-dependent, so an early murder isn't a reliable shortcut. **Route one: get in, kill Pious, get out** This can be quick once you know the building. Getting access, finding the right person, and leaving without trouble are why I wouldn't promise everyone a ninety-second run. **1. Prepare the exit first** **Already a novice:** from the dining room, go through the kitchen and its back storerooms into the final small pantry. Look high on the right-hand side of the shelving at the back for the **Monastery Key**. Backtrack one room and unlock its exterior door into the outer courtyard. That gives you a way out and access to the room holding your equipment. [Pantry key](https://t.co/CjihmpTu0t). **Breaking in instead of joining:** use the exterior wooden stairs on the left after entering the outer compound, then go through the Overseer's office and its adjoining sleeping rooms toward the Prior's quarters. Steal the Monastery Key from the Prior, ideally while he sleeps. Return outside and use it on an exterior cloister entrance. The key does **not** open the internal door between those private quarters and the cloister. Don't get the key and assume you can just keep walking straight through. Picking an exterior Very Hard lock is another option if Henry has the skill, but that's not a useful instruction for a character who can't attempt it. Joining as a novice and taking the pantry key is a practical alternative without doing the full investigation. If you became a novice and your dagger is stored with your equipment, retrieve it before returning to Antonius. Siskin’s hidden dagger is another option, described below. Don’t wear your recovered armour back inside if you still need to pass as a novice. Whichever approach you choose, know which door you're leaving through before attacking anyone. [Entry and quest access](https://t.co/btkJI1nit3), [courtyard exit](https://t.co/BgtyvcqTTd). **2. Find Antonius in the dormitory** Use the stairwell beside the chapel: upstairs leads to the dormitory; downstairs leads to the cellar. After approximately 21:00, the monks go to their communal sleeping quarters. Identify **Antonius** by name before acting. If you're already inside, following him to bed beforehand is easier than guessing among sleeping men in identical robes. Save before the attempt. Nearby sleepers can wake, and even an apparently unwitnessed monastery murder can trigger investigating guards. **3. Don't confuse choking him out with killing him** The choke-out action leaves someone unconscious. For the direct dagger stealth-kill interaction, you need a dagger, **Stealth level 5**, and the purchased **Stealth Kill** perk. If you knock Antonius out instead, this route still requires a separate lethal action. Read the interaction rather than assuming the animation did what you wanted. [Stealth Kill](https://t.co/clkgDUQv11). **4. Loot the proof and leave** Take the **strange die** from his corpse while the relevant quest is active. Check your inventory before leaving. Knocking him unconscious alone doesn't produce the same proof. Use your prepared exit, recover your equipment if you became a novice, and continue through **The Die Is Cast**. Don't finish the murder and then expect to return for the full monastery side-quest experience. For a nonlethal resolution with the die, use the staged escape later in this guide and release him. Arrest does not automatically award the same proof. [Strange die and its quest conditions](https://t.co/WBxjp9Xg63). **Route two: get the monastery content before leaving** There are six optional quests alongside the **In the Cloister** daily routine: **Scattered Pages, Libri Prohibiti, The Abbot's List, Nasty Habits, The Trials of a Novice, and Worldly Goods**. Keep Antonius alive, don't accuse random novices, and leave the final confrontation until your side-quest journal is where you want it. Some decisions close other branches, so getting the content doesn't mean every mutually exclusive outcome happens in one run. **The daily routine** - **Before 04:00:** Wake in time; move to church as the duty changes. - **04:00–06:00:** Morning prayer. - **06:00–08:00:** Breakfast period in the refectory. - **08:00–12:00:** Work with Nevlas in the fratery. - **12:00–16:00:** Copying in the library. - **16:00–18:00:** Evening prayer; wait for the objective change. - **18:00–19:00:** Supper period. - **19:00–21:00:** Your useful evening investigation window. - **21:00 onward:** Curfew and sleep; sneaking now is a risk. The written duty book mentions 17:30 around supper, while the usual meal objective begins at 18:00. Follow your active objective at the transition. Don't leave prayer just because another monk starts moving. [Everyday Labours](https://t.co/VfwsZ5U4iW). Use the meal periods for food and conversation, staying alert to the next duty. Finishing a potion early doesn't authorize spending the rest of the work block in the dormitory. **Arrival: take the tour** Let Antonius show you the building. Learn the church, dormitory, dining room, workrooms, and library before trying to sneak between them. The **refectory** is the dining room. The **fratery** is the work area associated with Nevlas. Getting those names straight makes the page hunt easier. Talk to Lucas, Siskin, and Jodok when you have an opening. Leave telling Antonius about your hunt for Pious until you've finished the side content. You know who he is; you don't need to advance his story immediately. If arrival has eaten most of the day, attend the next duty and start the proper plan tomorrow. Don't try to squeeze an entire day into the last twenty minutes before curfew. **First full day: start the investigation around your duties** **Morning prayer and breakfast, 04:00–08:00** Attend prayer, then breakfast. Use an available conversation window to ask Lucas about his trouble with the circators, John and Stibor. That leads into **The Trials of a Novice**. You can also learn about the situation through the circators' nighttime drinking. If an early persuasion attempt fails, keep the quest open and return after helping them. Don't assume one failed conversation ends Lucas's story. **Nevlas's work, 08:00–12:00** Ask for the day's assignment and take the supplied ingredients from the chest by the alchemy bench. Also ask Nevlas about the abbot and offer to help: accept his forbidden-book request to start **Libri Prohibiti**. Make the **two requested potions** using the matching recipe, then hand them over before work ends. The potion can change, so read today's request rather than brewing yesterday's pair. Stay in the work area for the block. Locate the page on the main fratery's lectern and the one on the adjoining alchemy-room table. Being assigned to the room doesn't mean nobody can notice you taking things. **Library work, 12:00–16:00** Read the passage and choose the matching line from the three options, repeating for all three selections. The text can vary; this isn't a fixed three-button solution. **Submit the finished work to the librarian before the work block ends.** Ask about the missing pages to start **Scattered Pages**. Locate the library's loose page and its separate chest page, but don't pick the chest in front of a witness just because you're supposed to be in the library. [Daily job objectives](https://t.co/sVSzGjkEmF), [copying and work-area restrictions](https://t.co/k1qTLVzHPC). **Prayer and supper, 16:00–19:00** Go back to church, then eat once the objective changes. Don't try to fit one more lockpick attempt into the beginning of prayer. That is exactly the sort of rushing that makes this section drag on longer. **Siskin and preparations, 19:00–21:00** Ask Siskin about his background. His hidden belongings lead to **Worldly Goods**. From the dormitory, take the northern door onto the balcony overlooking the church. Check the loose floor slab on the right. The stash contains money and an ornamented dagger; a forbidden book is associated with it too, though it can be on Siskin instead. Finding the cache can start and complete the quest. Talk to Siskin about it before deciding what to do with his things. Once he knows you've found it, he can move the contents. You can explore the conversation without stealing everything or reporting him. Carrying the dagger risks expulsion if you are searched. [Worldly Goods](https://t.co/yHxT7JuXk5). For a free lockpick, check behind the chapel altar at its back-left corner, behind the triptych. Cellarius is another option if you persuade or intimidate him into trading; food can be useful barter. The money in Siskin's stash is not the same thing as a guaranteed stash of lockpicks. **After curfew: meet the circators** Find John and Stibor drinking in the cellar after 21:00. Join the conversation to start **Nasty Habits** and ask about Lucas. Settle his problem through the available dialogue if you can; otherwise, try again after the wine errand. **Return to Lucas** afterward. Resolving things with the circators without telling him leaves part of the quest unfinished. His information also gives you another reason to question Antonius. [The Trials of a Novice](https://t.co/3grcBDbLzm). The circators want wine. Speak to Jodok during a normal conversation window to arrange the supply run. Don't report their drinking to the Prior while trying to complete it. And don't mistake a little leniency for permanent immunity from the rules. **Second day: finish collecting the pages** Repeat the morning routine, potion work, and copying. Use work periods for the nearby pages, and the evening window for accessible rooms. Suspicious chests and private quarters need a discreet opportunity, not a missed shift. **All ten pages** 1. **Northwest cloister corridor:** Very Easy locked cupboard. 2. **Cellar:** table facing the main-room entrance. 3. **Main fratery:** east-wall lectern. 4. **Alchemy room:** east-wall table by the window. 5. **Dormitory, northeast:** Easy chest by the bookcases. 6. **Dormitory, southeast:** loose atop the furniture beside the raised bed. 7. **Dining hall, northwest:** locked chest. 8. **Library, south wall:** table behind the copying monk. 9. **Library, east wall near the entrance:** Easy chest. 10. **Private bedroom west of the library:** small round table behind the large canopy bed, beside Treasure Map II. That last bedroom is not the study containing the novice records. The loose library page and its chest page are also two separate locations. [Ten-page location checklist](https://t.co/lOxnHZaZNG). If you're stuck at nine and collected a page before becoming a novice, check your stored equipment. It may have been put away with your belongings. [Early-collected page warning](https://t.co/W6PQAFrdsz). The private rooms deserve their own trip. From the outer compound, the stairs by the Overseer's side lead to a small bedroll room and adjoining private chambers. The larger bedroom and study are along that approach. It is trespassing, and reaching them doesn't make the door into the inner monastery unlocked. Don't assume the kitchen key bypasses every internal lock. [Private-room approach](https://t.co/7LHuto7c2k). If you can't do this discreetly before the next duty, use another evening. An extra day is better than losing your place in the monastery over the last page. **Return the pages, then get the right forbidden book** Bring all ten to the librarian for the forbidden-collection key and permission. This is a different key from the Monastery Key. For **Libri Prohibiti**, Nevlas wants **Avicenna – Sufficientia**, not the Necronomicon. Take the correct book from the forbidden collection and deliver it. Doing the pages first avoids depending on the cupboard's Very Hard lock or stealing its key. Siskin may speak to you at night in the library. His response about the forbidden book doesn't make every other theft or lockpick attempt safe. [Libri Prohibiti](https://t.co/d0LcEX4JwC). After delivering the book, ask Nevlas about the novices for **The Abbot's List**. Read the novice records in the private study. They provide background on the men you're investigating and inconsistencies worth pursuing in Antonius's story. Finding the loose page in the bedroom does not mean you've read this book. [The Abbot's List](https://t.co/hKbl24pUrY). **Second night: the wine errand** Arrange the run with Jodok and meet him late in the evening; around 23:00 is a useful target within his nighttime availability. Have a way to open the outside door first. Wait for Jodok’s conversation at the unlocked exit before running off. He can refuse to accompany you; then collect the wine alone. Go to the Custodian's building in the outer complex and enter its lower cellar. The quest cask is in the left corner. Take the wine specifically intended for the circators. Return to the monastery cellar and use the table's placement prompt before 04:00. Check that delivery registers, then follow up with the circators and Lucas as needed. Reporting the drinking to the Prior while this quest is active can shut it down. Helping can buy limited leniency, not unrestricted wandering. If the safe window closes, do your morning duties and finish the errand another night. [Nasty Habits](https://t.co/9spUe3Z91M), [wine run](https://t.co/qhFH4Pq9at). **Before confronting Antonius** Check the journal: - Ten pages **returned**, not just collected. - Avicenna delivered to Nevlas. - Novice records read. - Siskin's cache discovered and conversation explored. - Wine delivered and Nasty Habits resolved. - Lucas spoken to after dealing with the circators. For the optional election conversations, ask Nevlas about helping his candidacy and accept his request to investigate wrongdoing; John can ask you to investigate his rival. After finishing the relevant errands, return to Nevlas with what you learned about the circators or Siskin. These are additional dialogue branches, not a promise that you get to decide the election. If seeing the quests is your priority, don't denounce someone halfway through the activity you're trying to finish. Keep a save before choosing sides. You might finish this in a few days or need an extra one. The point is to leave with the content done, not hit an arbitrary bedtime on day two. **Finish the main quest: Pious and the staged escape** Once you're satisfied, talk to Antonius about searching for Pious. The established route includes him poisoning you at a meal and making a deal after you collapse. Agree to the escape if that's the ending you want. If you expose him through direct confrontation and reach the bargain without being poisoned, continue from the blood-and-key tasks instead. If you were poisoned, **drink the antidote Antonius gives you before doing anything else** and check your health. Waking up and finishing the conversation does not mean the poison has stopped. [Poison recovery step](https://t.co/2m5EvFMRAi). He needs blood and a way out. Use the order sheet in the kitchen's back area to request blood, then return the following morning or next day to collect the goatskin once it arrives. If it's already present in your quest state, take it. Get the pantry key if you haven't already. Tell Antonius when you have everything. Meet after evening prayer in the upstairs dormitory/balcony area, following the current marker. Let the staged death play out and follow him outside. [Escape sequence](https://t.co/CLfWlFu45p). Don't start this before your side quests are done. While waiting for delivery or the meeting, keep doing the routine: prayer, food, work, copying, prayer. Being almost finished doesn't stop the circators noticing you. **Your ending choices** **Release him:** the nonlethal resolution that provides the die as agreed proof. Confirm you've received it before moving on. **Hand him over:** choose the bailiff dialogue outside. The fistfight and subsequent handover take you through the arrest sequence. Don't assume you automatically receive the die; you don't. Follow the resulting quest objectives. **Kill him:** if you want the murder route and its proof, use the earlier direct-kill instructions while the relevant quest is active. I wouldn't promise the same die reward from killing him after the staged escape; sources disagree on that branch. Recover your belongings from the original changing/storage room if your outcome hasn't already restored them. Check your equipment before moving on to **The Die Is Cast**. **If you get caught** The rules are not simply two free mistakes followed by automatic expulsion. Being late, stealing, carrying a weapon, and being seen leaving can bring different consequences. Some trouble can be talked away; some can't. Confinement can interrupt the schedule and cost you items you picked up. [Punishments and quest branches](https://t.co/vqF8JB4MrS). After punishment, check your current objective and inventory before carrying on with yesterday's plan. If you're expelled and wanted the full novice route, reload the separate save rather than assuming breaking back in restores your status. Most importantly, don't keep rushing because you're annoyed. That's what kept getting me into trouble. Finish the duty you're supposed to be doing, use the next window, and save the risky stuff for when you're ready. If you just want out, take the quick route and move on. If you want the monastery's story, slow down enough to get it. Having a plan is a lot less aggravating than wandering around with nine pages and another warning.
